Petr Cech gives Chelsea some cheer and may be ready in time for this week’s trip to Sunderland. Sir Alex Ferguson lauds Anderson’s recent fine form and may have Danny Welbeck back sooner than expected. Everton’s new boys have their say at a press unveiling while Alex McLeish remains sceptical over Darren Bent’s availability ahead of Aston Villa’s game at Everton. Here we go, folks- this morning’s Scribbles:

Everton’s two new loan signings were in determined mood when introduced to the press yesterday. Royston Drenthe is clearly agitated that his time at Real Madrid didn’t quite pan out as expected and expressed his delight at a move to Goodison:

I have something to prove because my time at Real Madrid has ended already. It ended a year ago. After this year I am not a Real Madrid player any more because this is the last year of my contract. When my agent told me I could sign for Everton, I was like ‘thank you God’. I am really happy I can make this step in my future.

Denis Stracqualursi, the Toffees new centre forward, knows what is expected of him from a footballing and domestic perspective and reckons he won’t suffer from the same issues that have affected compatriot Carlos Tevez in Manchester:

“I’ve seen Everton play and I’m aware that they like to have a big striker, who is good in the air and up for the physical battle. I like to think I am like that and I hope I can score some goals for them.”
I don’t think I will have any problems settling in here. My family are not here, but they will be joining me soon and I don’t expect they will have any problems either. The cold, I’m not so sure about.

Danny Welbeck is hoping to return to training next week. The Man United forward was expected to be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in the home game with Arsenal but has given Sir Alex Ferguson an unexpected boost by recovering well ahead of schedule.

Petr Cech is also in line for a quick comeback. The Chelsea keeper was injured in a training ground accident last month and it’s no coincidence that his side have failed to record a clean sheet in his absence. Cech is reported to be in line for a shock comeback at Sunderland this weekend.

QPR owner Tony Fernandes yesterday hinted that the club’s reported interest in David Beckham is serious. Beckham is out of contract with LA Galaxy come November and it seems the club are mulling over an offer to bring him back to the Premier League. Fernandes tweeted yesterday:

‘I think having someone like David [Beckham] in the club would be great. Was always in my thoughts. Let’s see.’

Thomas Vermaelen also took to twitter to clarify his latest injury. It had been reported the Belgian could be out for at least two months with an Achilles problem but he explained the issue was with his ankle and expected to be out for half the time:

“Yesterday I had a small procedure to take out my plantaris tendon. Just to prevent it becomes a big problem. Back training in 4 weeks.”

Sir Alex Ferguson has been praising Anderson in an interview with Man United’s club magazine Inside United. The Brazilian’s stand-out start to the season suggest he’s finally living up to the expectations, four years after the club signed him from Porto:

He’s been tremendous, the boy. He’s had a couple of long-term injuries which haven’t helped him, but in the last year or so, he’s steered clear of injury. That means he’s training every day so his fitness levels are much better. And he’s maturing so you can see the consistency in his game.’

Alex McLeish is unsure of Darren Bent’s availability for this weekend’s trip to Everton. The forward withdrew from the England squad this week with a groin problem and Big Eck admits he’s dubious over his star striker’s availability:

It is touch and go. We will be working around the clock to try and get him fit for the Everton game. But at this moment he is injured and that is a fact. You never know by the weekend. We don’t think it is too serious and it is not going to keep him out for a while.

Neil Warnock has hinted he may hand Shaun Wright-Phillips a free role within the QPR system. After years of frustration at Chelsea and Man City, the deadline day signing looks set to be a key member of Warnock’s first XI and finally be given the game time to prove himself:

I think Shaun can play all over midfield really, within the system, so he’ll have a free role in the side. He can play on the right, the left, a little bit like Tommy Smith does, and also in the hole behind the striker. Adel Taarabt as well; he played on the left against Wigan and I thought he did well. It gives us options, which is crucial.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Good effort, but google translation made 2 small mistakes ; )

It's Erster! - if you wanted to say first. Erste is feminine and first (in german) is a maskulin word.

Unglaubliche Arbeit... if you wanted to say Awesome job you would rather say "gute Arbeit", as unglaublich is referred to unbelievable things like a scientist turning into a bulky monster.

yesot, I just don't know about Arsenal. I was considering Lampard and Suarez out and RVP and Walcott in for an 8 point hit because Arsenal's fixtures are incredible. Will they be fired up to win 4-0 or will they nervously grind their way to 1-0?

I done torres to RVP the other day, i think that should be the priority. I'm in the same boat having lamps and bent, but I dont think walcott is worth 9.0, maybe i'm just being stubborn but i dont think he is worth it. tevez is a good differential but his game time obviously will be limited with aguero and dzeko there. I appreciate this isnt much help just my 5ps worth.

There's some debate about whether Rooney's a better FPL option partnering Hernandez, than he is with Welbeck. I agree, no need to rush him back yet though.

Would be a brave move to take a punt on chicha, whilst every man and his dog has Rooney, but it could pay off big

A free role for SWP means that Taraabt won't have the freedom he did before. I don't have him so don't really care, but I'm sure it'll affect quite a few managers. Taraabt won't take kindly to being shackled.

Played my WC to get additional cash, sitting with 101.9M (but only .5M in increase if all cashed in) - what's the accepted wisdom on taking gains or leaving players in? Seems to me that keeping players you see as long term makes sense, any tips?

I would advise against holding anyone purely because there's a chance of another 0.1 rise over the next few weeks. PLayers like Klasnic, Andreson, Cleverley, Taylor, Suarez, both the keepers are unlikely to rise again soon unless they have a big week IMO.

I'm following the same price rise strategy and I'm probably going to hold on to these players for a bit longer, just to see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

R.Taylor, Anderson and Cleveley are the biggest doubts, but for some reason people are still trading them in. You might make 0.1 by Saturday / GW5 if you just hold on to them...

But Lamps has two difficult matches coming, while Nzog's and Sess' fixtures are more favourable. Besides, they may profit from the absence of Gyan and Bent...
I'm currently leaning towards Nzog, as he is more expensive than Sess and he didn't look well in the first two games, but I'm so not sure.

But to be fair, 8 points out of these 19 were due to one penalty shot (5 + 3 bonus as a result). There is always hope that more penalties will come but you can't rely on them...

Sess isn't delivering and Zog is playing too deep - but the thing that irritates me most about Zog is his price, he's in this weird little bracket all on his own whereas with Sess you've got lots of options around the same price.

sess and moses are bringing some really good performances and they always seem to be 2 inches from getting a goal/assist but its not happening. i still believe in them.

nzog is useless this year unless AV go to 4-5-1 (4-1-2-2-1)formation which suit him the most

Yeah, I think Nzog's price is an important factor, it's better to either downgrade him to some other player and use the money in defense/attack or directly upgrade him to someone like Walcott (as in my case)
I don't really like him but I have this feeling that he still might score soon, it's not like he didn't have chances at all in previous games... But he definitely doesn't look to me like a good long-term option at the moment

    A:

    Given/Vorm
    Ward/Enrique/Boswinga/Simpson/De Laet
    Nasri/Jarvis/Moses/Young/Brunt
    Rooney/Bent/Silva

    or

    B:

    Silva/Jarvis/Moses/Walcott/Young
    Rooney/Suarez/Klasnic (0.8 in bank)

I've ever had him when hes gotten a monster haul. Would like to buck that trend! Its only a thought at the minute, will do more reserach on the Fri when I have more time. If he played for the Yanks and has done a lot of travelling I may hold back for now. Plus we have not seen Ruiz yet and he may be have an effect on positioning etc.

Young vs Wayne. Wayne scored a pen and two free kicks last match. Against a poor, inexperienced Arsenal team, he didn't score from open play and was still coming quite deep. Both are in form and scoring well so with the extra 2m i would have from going for Young, is it not worth it?

Although Chelsea strikers have struggled with the price drops of Torres and Drogba especially at 10.2 its tempting (if we know who will start) Also with Carroll dropping to 9.8 and Suarez soon to be the most expensive striker at Liverpool, is any one considering these cheaper options?? We all know they are capable of scoring well but its just about the timing of the players and gettting them in before the bandwagon which is easier said than done. It must surely be a matter of time before a chelsea striker starts banging the goals in.

So Carroll at 9.8 anyone? Drogba at 10.2 or maybe even 10.0 in a few weeks? Anyone calmed down from Torres-rage of GW1, 2 and 3 to consider him?

I dont think you should WC tbh, you've got decent players just a few maybes, wait and see with Baines (I'm doing the same) and I guess the same should be said for Long and Bent. Nani isnt all of a sudden a bad prospect, he is a guaranteed starter and always capable of scoring/assisting, just because he hasnt been doing it doesnt mean he wont against Bolton.

It's just a waiting game with injuries, dont make transfers now... wait for the press conferences on Friday.

I am kind of thinking (hoping) Nani is due to come good and Rooney can also be flat after England games. Problem is, if Baines isn't to play this week is he worth keeping with Everton gutted and a bad run around the corner? If only switching him for an Arsenal defender was a good option, I might just settle for that.

I can't understand why people would get Ferguson.

If you play 3-4-3 it means you have 2 subs, both defenders.

As for Jarvis, not sure why you say carnage but think at the moment he's a viable purchase.

But if he misses this weekend it's realistic to expect him to drop .1 maybe .2 .. so can then get him back for the same price.

prefer to just keep him and upgrade elsewhere. I've still got a Toure - Silva move I've been promising myself.

Yeah, I've had the Ferguson debate on here a few times. And you're absolutely stuck with him - no one with Ferguson will keep 0.5 in the bank to upgrade him, they'll have invested it all. So it takes two transfers just to sort him. A total false economy- maybe worth it in GW34, but definitely not this early.

we did try and tell them...many, many times. Ferguson owners only have themselves to blame.

As a ferguson owner I think its a little early to be saying Ha and all that...

Baines Bent Adam all likely to play at the weekend
Jarvis is a doubt fair enough

Doesnt trouble me I will only have one of them and my sub is De Laet playing at home

You can keep laughing at Ferguson but my 3rd sub will not be needed - I can easily get the 2 points from one of those 4.5 or 5.0 mids from one of my budget defenders

as the injuries mount up you will soon learn to hate ferguson. A non playing player makes absolutely no sense. Dyer would have been better, but now he's gone up you can't even get him without further jiggery-pokery.

Wish more thought like you though. Do wonder's for my ranking if everyone were kind enough to play with 14 to my 15.

you may have to put your team link in your name rather than Rick Astley when the time comes to wave Ferguson's massive points haul back in my face. 😉

post again when the two sub defenders you've left yourself as your only fallback hit you with dual minus points. if u have cheap defenders it means smaller teams with weak defences and they will often be up against strong attacks ergo the benching. negative points from those two with no outfielder to act as a dam at the front of your bench will hurt you when your firstteamers fail to show. or something

Megatron x has certainly been able to prove it, the it in question being a fantasay foxhole.

Meh i have ferguson and 14 other fit players.

Dyer who was at 4.5 has of yet done nothing of note so im not concerned he has risen.

Il wait to find some bargains if any emerge and then move him on probably in a wildcard around week 10 or so.
