Petr Cech gives Chelsea some cheer and may be ready in time for this week’s trip to Sunderland. Sir Alex Ferguson lauds Anderson’s recent fine form and may have Danny Welbeck back sooner than expected. Everton’s new boys have their say at a press unveiling while Alex McLeish remains sceptical over Darren Bent’s availability ahead of Aston Villa’s game at Everton. Here we go, folks- this morning’s Scribbles:

Everton’s two new loan signings were in determined mood when introduced to the press yesterday. Royston Drenthe is clearly agitated that his time at Real Madrid didn’t quite pan out as expected and expressed his delight at a move to Goodison:

I have something to prove because my time at Real Madrid has ended already. It ended a year ago. After this year I am not a Real Madrid player any more because this is the last year of my contract. When my agent told me I could sign for Everton, I was like ‘thank you God’. I am really happy I can make this step in my future.

Denis Stracqualursi, the Toffees new centre forward, knows what is expected of him from a footballing and domestic perspective and reckons he won’t suffer from the same issues that have affected compatriot Carlos Tevez in Manchester:

“I’ve seen Everton play and I’m aware that they like to have a big striker, who is good in the air and up for the physical battle. I like to think I am like that and I hope I can score some goals for them.”
I don’t think I will have any problems settling in here. My family are not here, but they will be joining me soon and I don’t expect they will have any problems either. The cold, I’m not so sure about.

Danny Welbeck is hoping to return to training next week. The Man United forward was expected to be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in the home game with Arsenal but has given Sir Alex Ferguson an unexpected boost by recovering well ahead of schedule.

Petr Cech is also in line for a quick comeback. The Chelsea keeper was injured in a training ground accident last month and it’s no coincidence that his side have failed to record a clean sheet in his absence. Cech is reported to be in line for a shock comeback at Sunderland this weekend.

QPR owner Tony Fernandes yesterday hinted that the club’s reported interest in David Beckham is serious. Beckham is out of contract with LA Galaxy come November and it seems the club are mulling over an offer to bring him back to the Premier League. Fernandes tweeted yesterday:

‘I think having someone like David [Beckham] in the club would be great. Was always in my thoughts. Let’s see.’

Thomas Vermaelen also took to twitter to clarify his latest injury. It had been reported the Belgian could be out for at least two months with an Achilles problem but he explained the issue was with his ankle and expected to be out for half the time:

“Yesterday I had a small procedure to take out my plantaris tendon. Just to prevent it becomes a big problem. Back training in 4 weeks.”

Sir Alex Ferguson has been praising Anderson in an interview with Man United’s club magazine Inside United. The Brazilian’s stand-out start to the season suggest he’s finally living up to the expectations, four years after the club signed him from Porto:

He’s been tremendous, the boy. He’s had a couple of long-term injuries which haven’t helped him, but in the last year or so, he’s steered clear of injury. That means he’s training every day so his fitness levels are much better. And he’s maturing so you can see the consistency in his game.’

Alex McLeish is unsure of Darren Bent’s availability for this weekend’s trip to Everton. The forward withdrew from the England squad this week with a groin problem and Big Eck admits he’s dubious over his star striker’s availability:

It is touch and go. We will be working around the clock to try and get him fit for the Everton game. But at this moment he is injured and that is a fact. You never know by the weekend. We don’t think it is too serious and it is not going to keep him out for a while.

Neil Warnock has hinted he may hand Shaun Wright-Phillips a free role within the QPR system. After years of frustration at Chelsea and Man City, the deadline day signing looks set to be a key member of Warnock’s first XI and finally be given the game time to prove himself:

I think Shaun can play all over midfield really, within the system, so he’ll have a free role in the side. He can play on the right, the left, a little bit like Tommy Smith does, and also in the hole behind the striker. Adel Taarabt as well; he played on the left against Wigan and I thought he did well. It gives us options, which is crucial.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Ramsey isnt guaranteed anymore now Song is back from suspension and Arteta is in... Doubling up on Arsenal isn't the best idea anyway atm IMO, regardless of fixtures, yes I agree with RVP but not Ramsey aswell.

Ok, so tell me if this is plain nonsense, but I'm thinking of gambling on Torres out, Sturridge in. Will free up some cash for my mid, and I just have a feeling he's gonna play and do well now he's served his suspension. He was on fire pre-season, and will be sharp. Torres has been cack, and Drogba got that nasty concussion (and has been cack anyway). Any Chelsea fans know if this is likely?

real shame for him that he was suspended for the first 3 games of the season. The bonus for him is that in that time none of the strikers have been particurly good. I agree he should start this weekend but he will need to have a good game to hold onto his place. Waiting for AVB to make his mark on the chelsea side. So far it has looked like a poor Mourinho side.

When will AVB realise that Torres is sh*t?

Hopefully he will play Mata, Drogba, Sturridge this weekend.

You want AVB to make a mark on the team and then suggest playing Drogba instead of Torres?

IMO as bad as Torres has been, Drogba has been no better. Won't do any wonders for Torres's confidence if he's dropped. Next season Drogba probably won't be there, Torres will and he needs to start scoring soon, which won't happen if he's dropped.

Drogba offers something when he isnt scoring, he is our best header of the ball in either box.

Torres offers nothing. he is not the player we needed.

What sort of message does it send out to the other players in the squad when they see Torres playing each game when he has done nothing to deserve it.

people are desperate for chelsea attacking coverage and at the moment it is hard to know who to go for.

Sturridge and Mata are punts for sure but they could come off spectacularly.

It has to be better than people asking RMTs over and over again, or asking questions in such broken english that you cant even decipher what they are going on about?

The front line thsi weekend will be either

            Sturridge torres mata

            or Sturridge Drogba mata

AVB has a formula consisting of two attacking wing backs. Three in midfield and two pacy pincing wingers. With a big man up front. Remeber the old days of Duff, SWP and Robben. Mata and Sturridge are these players.

If AVB had been here last season he would not have purchased Torres, he does not fit this system. But at £50m it hard to not play him....

You really think Sturridge's inclusion is a joke? I think it's 50/50 whether he will start or not. I reckon even if he replaces Torres/Malouda after 60 mins, he could do some damage in 30 minutes. I might just do it - Torres out, Sturride in :S

.... and now watch Torres hit a hat trick!

Lots of people criticise Wildcarders yet look at the amount of injuries the internationals have thrown up. Add to that rotation caused by it and the fact that it's a great time to improve your team value which could make the difference if u want certain players.

    I'm pleased so far.

not sure what means about games called off? affects everyone when game called off and i wouldnt use a wildcard to load up with dgw players anyway.

next international break doesnt bother me as i will know which players are good for the season, in form, and have value.

Richards, Long & Jarvis injured. Riise's back meaning Briggs drops to the bench. Cech's back meaning I need to sell Hilario as my backup goalie. Santon's arrival also puts Simpson at risk. On Friday evening/ Saturday morning I'll decide which transfer to make I don't believe in point hits.

"Having entered the game a few minutes from the end of the match, Samir Nasri (24 years old, 25 appearances, 2 goals) had enough time to injure his left hand fairly seriously. The French international medical staff fear that he has fractured his fifth metatarsal. But the central midfielder will have to be treated in England as he boarded a plane for Manchester immediately after the match to go back to his club City. (By Pierre-Damien Lacourte)"

"had enough time to injure his left hand fairly seriously. The French international medical staff fear that he has fractured his fifth metatarsal"

So he's injured his left hand and also a bone in his foot. That must have been a pretty bad challenge to cause that.

Yeah, I thought that too. It's an error in the original French - it should have been métacarpe.

As regards Malbranque, the story has moved on again. Saint-Étienne have unsurprisingly said that they don't want him to stay with the club, having replaced him in the transfer window with Banel Nicolita and Max Gradel. He is therefore out of contract. Malbranque is now considering whether to join another team with Valenciennes and Glasgow Rangers apparently interested in his services.

Quick Q that I can't find an answer to in the rules or FAQ.

If I have already made 3 transfers this week, and a cost of -4, if I now play my wildcard, does that -4 disappear and all my transfers for the week are free?

This Nasri news would be so annoying. I got him in my wildcard team as a differential from Silva, now if he is injured, the only good replacements are Silva, who has gone up in price so I'll lose some of the value I've made and Mata, whose fixtures aren't the best.

In order to accommodate a BIG strikeforce and two big hitters in midfield I have identified the following six teams as good sources of budget defensive options in order to make up my goalkeepers and defence (To go alongside Bosingwa, who is definitely in)

These teams are: Villa, Newcastle, Wolves, Stoke, Swansea and Norwich.

I have a total of 26.5 to spend on these six players (one from each side)

    I am currently torn between:

    Ruddy, Vorm
    Warnock, Johnson, Woodgate, Simpson, Bosingwa

    OR:

    Given, Vorm
Johnson, Woodgate, Simpson, De Laet, Bosingwa

Any suggestions as to better combinations? Or preferences between these two options?

I think this is pretty much the way I'm going.

      - Newcastle & Swansea rotate pretty well, so Krul and Vorm are probably going to be my keepers.

      - Bosingwa in defence as a mainstay.

      - For a while Villa & Norwich have very favourable home games rotating, so De Laet & Warnock.

      - And, for the most part, Wolves & Stoke rotate very well until the second WC becomes available, so a defender from each there.
