Hallelujah – it’s business as usual in the Premier League. More to the point, it’s deadline day for fantasy football, and the Matchday Surgery chatroom is here to see you through it.

If you’ve left it late to make your transfers, or are just toying with final Fantasy Premier League wildcard adjustments, then one final sanity check is an absolute must. Come in and your comrades will attempt to deter you from any last-minute howlers (insert standard disclaimer).

Besides from the player market, there’s also the matter of selecting your double-scoring captain. With monster individual scores still burning in the memory, it’s a decision that cannot be taken lightly. A glance over at our poll sees Robin van Persie leading the way over two of those players with exceptional recent tallies in Wayne Rooney and Edin Dzeko.

May gameweek four treat us (especially me) well.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

"people who brought him in on their wildcard don’t expect him to play", Unfortunatley (or furtunately for my mini leagues) alot of people dont play the long game and just switch players at the drop of a hat. Walking into work on monday after dzeko doesnt play and RVP scores me some serious points will be priceless.

        2. A person who is never ever in media in anyway so you couldnt even make a judgement either way
        3. A person who's only fault as a human in your life was that he had the moral corage not to shake a former friends hand who slept with his ex repeately and thus made his life a living hell.

Understandably he is annoyed that Bridge can earn £90,000 a week for doing absolutely nothing at all.

And footballers get booed for nothing at all, the booing was more in support of Terry than criticising Bridge as weird as that may sound. But it shoundn't have happened but "one terrible day for football" bit over the top maybe Db

What!? If it was a choice between earning thousands of pounds a week and being a professional footballer, training every day and playing matches in the Premier League, I'd chose the latter, seeing as the thousands of pounds earned would just be spent going to football matches anway.

Well done, I haven't, unsure what that has to do with anything though, should he be bored now? Is it okay to run down a contract he signed saying he'd give his best but not actually follow through?

I wrote the words: "He's a pr*ck" thereby voicing my opnion he is a pr*ck, or put more simply a person who I regard as being less than pleasant, and whose company I assume I would not enjoy. Bit like you actually. I don't have to know somebody to get an impression of them. This site would be close to perfect were it not for your mindless angry ranting and AP's ridicluous whining. Wayne Bridge is a pr*ck, but you are on another planet, well done, you should be very proud.

I know as much as you do, why are you right? Of course its my opinion, I assumed you'd figure that out, you know, being as it was me saying it and all? Most of the information made public about him and what I have observed leads me to believe he's a pr*ck. Ergo, I am well within my right to thinkof him as such. Now be quiet and go bully some other person.

Yes im aware its your opinion, you said it in manner in which it meant something to the conversation - it doesnt, nor does it defend your stance

Im not right - i never offered an opinion on him. For you to be wrong which you are doesnt imply i am correct

It implies your ill informed to make such a judgement on a person you know nothing off ouside the convulted contrived world of the media where everything is overblown.

You dont know him. I am not saying you not within your right not to have an opinion - your just foolish knowing so little.

He's won trophies, he's got England caps, he's played in the world cup.

His career is now in rapid decline, so if he wants to milk it for what its worth and keep his ridiculously attractive (albeit rather simple) girlfriend happy, let him do it.

Celtic as you may learn when your out of the Irish media which gives their results bizarrely every week is a backwater of epic proportions

Akin to playing in league 2 or worse.

They'll be playing in Europe, he could've played 90 minutes in front of a full house every week and still earned the same amount of money. No reason to stay sitting at home watching soccer saturday instead of that.

Their playing in Europe by ultra default.
              The standard is dire
              the league is dire
he has nothing to play for
What would be the motivation for going to play in front of 6000 people with nothing to play for and then getting mixed up in secterian hate for the rest of your life

The league shouldnt even be covered on mainstream tv anymore - its gets very false impression

The lowers teams in mid ranking leagues in europe have shown they are of a higher standard.

He probably should have moved, but moving to Celtic would be beyond dire. Irish media and people have an obession with them that needs to be removed.

Its a backwater league of epic proportions and then theirs the violence and hate. Yet their results are shown every week like they somehow mean something

Why would anyone want to play for a Scottish league title?
Its as meaningless as a ring inside a halloween cake.

He played and won the league before in England and played at International level and the CL

Going to play for Celtic is akin to dropping league 2 now - Just look at the players who are in the league

Even the "stars" wouldnt get in the team.

Playing 4 matches a year in a full stadium where everyone seems it ok to become a racist idiot doesnt make it anymore appealing.

Would be even more "fun" to move to Glasgow and have to live in this backward world where this outlandish behavior is approved

Which do you think is better Chegs.

Btw i think he is probably the best of the defenders there overall - but he still makes aload of errors which lead to goals.

Phil's reasoning for why you should buy him was so bad, as shown below. No mention of his defensive ability, besides that he has pace.

Anyone watching Soccer Saturday? Phil Brown on why Arsenal should have bought Cahill.

He has pace, enthusiasm, and scores goals, oh and he's english.

There was me thinking he was a defender.

Sky pundits are such mugs. I remember when we were linked with M'Vila and Hazard, Paul Walsh said, with no hint of irony, something along the lines of: "I've never heard of them, so they can't be that good."

He is a little overrated but would still definitely improved them, and is young so has a lot of time to get even better, I reckon he would be a good signing for them.

Vermalen, Kos and Djourou when all fit (and playing at normal level) are experienced defenders with Champions league experience and international experience.

They also formed very solid defence last year which kept a hell of a lot of clean sheets despite aluminia and clichy in the backline and Song going walk about

Then theres the whole fact which many seem to miss where Bolton keep more clean sheets when Golden boy Cahill (who is decent and prob top 7 defender level at best) plays

So yes if we deal in facts and basic defending it would lean towards him not being good enough.

Once Djourou regains his form (what the f*ck has happened to him btw?!), Cahill would have been the fourth best CB there.

Djourou has been completely useless since his injury vs. United in the FA cup.

I'm not sure why, but all confidence, and ability, has seemingly gone.

It's weird, because last season he was looking excellent. Him and Kos were keeping clean sheets in virtually every game they played together.

Up until that injury, we'd only conceded four goals all season while he was on the pitch.

Since then, he's been pub-team standard.

I think he would improve them too. One of those players that gets too much stick on here and too much praise in the media/pundits.

But sometimes the reasoning behind why he should have been signed is stupid.

Cahill has so much potential and I'd be surprised if in a few years time he isn't one of the best centre backs in the country. He has pace, good in the air, good in the tackle and is a born leader, I don't see how anyone can write him off, Villa fans say the worst thing MON did there was get rid of him on the cheap to Bolton.

Cahill is 26 in 3months. Not much more growing to do
Your description of him rings of a generalisation where you havent even watched him.

He is very poor in the tackle, easily turned and as so beautiful facts show....his team does worse and concede more when they play him.

Nobody is writing him off, merely saying he is an average work man like non top 4 defender

Jamsiep posted the stats last year- was something over 20 odd games with him playing and no cleansheets

and then he got suspended and they kept 2 in a row
