Hallelujah – it’s business as usual in the Premier League. More to the point, it’s deadline day for fantasy football, and the Matchday Surgery chatroom is here to see you through it.

If you’ve left it late to make your transfers, or are just toying with final Fantasy Premier League wildcard adjustments, then one final sanity check is an absolute must. Come in and your comrades will attempt to deter you from any last-minute howlers (insert standard disclaimer).

Besides from the player market, there’s also the matter of selecting your double-scoring captain. With monster individual scores still burning in the memory, it’s a decision that cannot be taken lightly. A glance over at our poll sees Robin van Persie leading the way over two of those players with exceptional recent tallies in Wayne Rooney and Edin Dzeko.

May gameweek four treat us (especially me) well.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

You must have a very sad existence if this is how you get your kicks. Anyone with half a brain know teams aren't announced until 50 minutes before kick-off.

My advice is to leave your bedroom in your parents house, go out and try meet actual human beings, it will do you the world of good.

Mihajlovic was (and probably still is) a better taker than Beckham.

Juninho wins it for inventing the knuckleball technique though.

Beckham was a sensational set piece taker, even Dbronaldo won't deny that. Juninho was too, I'd rate them the same in that aspect. Mihajlovic still the master though. Scored a hat trick of free kicks in the Serie A 8)

Disagree on Roberto Carlos though, one of the most overrated player I know. Scored THAT goal against France but that was about it.

By the way I think footballers should be generally better at set pieces. They do this all the time every day, and has done for the vast majority of their lives, STILL so many free kicks and especially corners are cleared by the first man.

I didn't make it up, don't shoot the messenger. Besides, who do united have to replace Rooney and Young? Whereas City can play Tevez, Aguero and Balotelli, none of whom played twice and they will also be looking at resting Dzeko for the Napoli fixture.

I can't see him starting personally.

Ryan Taylor is a massive liability defending. The only way he can play back there is if Gutierrez constantly back tracks to help him out, which means he has to play LB.

He would get slaughtered playing RB.

      A few reasons
      1) Don't know Santons level of fitness, will he come straight in? Long term yes, short term maybe wait and see
      2) 90% of people look at the scores to date, both Ryan Taylor and Simpson have scored quite well and are cheaper.
      3) People are a bit daft.

I will be annoyed if he is benched, but he will be .5 more expensive tomorrow, than last week anyway, so he will still be amazing value for the season

          I have two subs.

You might admit though that, of the 400k or so who transferred him in, many didn't do so due to 'value' or a long-view of 4-6 weeks.

Most, I'd bet, saw his goals last week and knee-jerked him in. For them, it will be hilarious if he doesn't play.

I think that he's defo going to get some time, if not start. You don't put a 'hot' striker on ice ...

I agree. Like everyone else I'll be gutted at the missed opportunity, but it's just one game.

If he doesn't start today then he's only going to get rotated more, and I have a feeling he's a confidence player. So it would mean a lot of dry spells.

      I'd move for Suarez then.

I don't think that's how it works tbh.

Right now he is the man in form, so it figures that he would be rested before a big mid-week game, especially for a game like Wigan at home. It's a great opportunity for rotation - this is a far cry from meaning he is second string.

If it becomes apparent that he is second string (which I doubt), then I will reconsider, but it would take more than him not featuring today to convince me of the fact.
