United. Chelsea. City. Arsenal. Spurs. Liverpool. Everton.

Last season’s top seven have all already played and soaked up most of the action for Fantasy Managers. However we’ve still got games and we’ve still got Fantasy points on the line this afternoon. We start off by opening the Dugout Discussion for Norwich vs. West Brom…

The visiting side are able to partner up Shane Long and Peter Odemwingie for the first time while captain Chris Brunt and James Morrison drop to the bench with Graham Dorrans and Jerome Thomas coming in. The home side meanwhile continue with the regular bouts of rotation as the likes of Andrew Surman and Elliott Bennett return and Wes Hoolahan has to make do with a place on the bench. Teams in full are…

Norwich XI: Rudd, Naughton, Barnett, De Laet, Tierney, Bennett, Crofts, Bradley Johnson, Surman, Holt, Chris Martin

West Brom XI: Foster; Reid, Tamas, Olsson, Shorey; Dorrans, Scharner, Mulumbu, Thomas; Long, Odemwingie.

Sunday Premier League football will then close out with Fulham playing host to Blackburn as both sides look to fight their way out of the early relegation spots.

The Dugout Discussion will be here for both of these fixtures.

I know I am getting ahead of myself but any thoughts on the United-Chelsea game Sun?

United have been devastating and Chelsea have been flattering to deceive. Which will prevail in the most important fixture of the new season?

Personally I think United will edge it, anyone else care to offer a prediction?

Chelsea didn't flatter to deceive yesterday. Totally outclassed Sunderland, and could have scored more if we didn't complete step of the pace in the last half an hour, presumably with the intention of resting players for Tuesday.

Desperately need David Luiz to return to the side, hopefully he'll get a start in the week, as United could easily exploit our high defensive line with Terry and Ivanovic (slow!) at the back. Luiz will make a huge difference.

Genuinely think that United are flattering to deceive though. We'll see what happens when they come up against a side that can actually defend. Still, I'd be delighted with a draw.

Im not, i just think people are going a tad overboard saying this is the best Utd team in a while. You conceded 2 goals in the Community Shield! You conceded 2 against us and it could have been more.

Anderson and Cleverley in midfield is too weak, in my opinion.

I agree. Don't get me wrong, Utd are playing well but they played Tottenahm with Kaboul at CB and Modric nowhere to be seen. They played us with Traore, Coquelin, Jenkinson etc and Bolton who are conceding goals for fun.

You were the better team, no denying that. And you have better depth so you can cover those injuries. Fact remains, you played Spurs with Kranjcar and Livermore in CM. You played us with half our team missing. I don't think you have been tested yet, and if TC and Anderson remained your combo for the Chelsea or Liverpool match, i think you would have got exposed.

How is it a "retardo" prediction. Yes you are scoring goals, but my point is, you re conceding a lot and letting teams play. Yes you won the CS but City were leading 2-0. It was one of them results. You conceded 2 against a weakened Arsenal team at Old Trafford. We had something like 19 shots on goal. As that nutritional biscuit DB would say, you are arguing with facts.

Of course 2008 > 2011, bloody obvious. 2008 won the 'big' double, 2011 hasn't won anything yet. Currently it's just a young team playing excellent football.

For all those that chose RVP over Rooney, do not be rash to change.
You have given up points this week, do not give up more by changing ideas. Over next 5 gameweeks RVP will be facing Blackburn(A), Bolton(H), Tottenham(A), Sunderland(H), Stoke(H). Rooney will be facing Chelsea(H), Stoke(A), Norwich (H), Liverpool(A), Man City(H). Over these 5 gameweeks Rooney Should score about 4 ppg avg. RVP will be closer to 10, or about 30 points more than Rooney over the coming Gw's. That will negate Rooneys 17 pts from Yesterday and RVP will be up by 13 points over Gw's 4-9.

Here we go again, the form vs. fixtures debate.

RVP was playing Swansea at home and scored 2pts, Rooney away at Bolton and scored 14+bonus. Yes Man utd have harder fixtures than Arsenal, but they're the better team so will still do well as they're the champions, the best team in the country.

I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal go to Blackburn and finish 0-0 tbh, and Rooney scores vs. Chelsea.

Also wouldnt be surprised to see Rooney Draw blanks in 4 of those 5 fixtures. And RVP scoring in all of his with some assists thrown in. Neither case would surpirse me, my point is dont change strategy. Anyone can blank in any one game, but over these 6 gameweeks(including this one) I wouldnt be surprised to see RVP outscore Rooney, even knowing yesterdays hauls.

Its not debate, its choice. If you have been betting on fixtures, then dont change just because you have gone down. At least you went down with some discipline playing a strategy. Fixtures and form go hand in hand. Form can be lost with difficult fixtures, and gained with easier ones. Man U played an Arsenal and Tottenham team in disarray and a bolton team that cant defend. Arsenal will have some key players coming back, and a decent schedule. Take it as you will.

I understand your point about not kneejerking and changing strategy.

I disagree about RVP outscoring Rooney. RVP may score more goals, but Rooney will get more assists. He has the better team and better players around him. Not convinced about Arshavin, Walcott, Arteta & Ramsey. However, Gervinho could help - RVP's goal at Udinese a prime example.

Point taken, but still think that if thats what you are playing, to switch strategy now is futile. Youre already 100 points or more behind, and now you want to pick up the difference by breaking your budget and bringing in Rooney and having to sacrifice elsewhere. By doing that you are just dying a slow death. Why bring him in now?

And then you read about people bringing him in and not captaining him. If form over fixture, then why not captain him? Im chasing a lead because im playing my strategy and I believe in the strategy. If I believed in youre strategy then I wouldnt bring in Rooney only not to captain him.

I agree that Van Persie is one of the best finishers in the game....I think Arsenal's biggest worry isn't whether Van persie will take his chances, I think ther biggest worry is whether the rest of the team can give him the platform to do so.

Therefore I am sticking with the striker who's scored 8 goals in 1 week.

      hi comeonspurs,
i'm exactly the same mate, i won all my leagues last two years running and comfortably.
I'm trailing the leader by 120 points already.
It seems many of the regulars on here are struggling, mainly because we use the same players/tactics.
I'm sure (and hope!) all comes good by the end of the season.
I'm losing to a guy who has had S Taylor, Simpson, Agbonlahor, Shawcross etc and even this week he had Terry who scored!

Not sure I'm in the same boat (as I was only 288th ;)) but yes tough start, had RVP GW1 and switched to Rooney after that... I know he was tempting but considering Arsenal's display + major changes (Nasri & Cesc out with the newcomers settling in), it was too big a risk for me.
On paper team usually looks good and disappoints... I have Lamps (to have Chelsea "coverage") while it seems I should go Silva like everyone else. Mid-range mids keep doing "almost" smth but never score (Taarabt, O'Hara, Sinclair...).
I'm on 230 atm, but I do feel your pain & will just remind you it's a long season (I know everyone says so but it is) and things can still turn around (many times).

It has been a crazy few weeks to be fair...hat-trick galore, extra wc, international break and therefore people activating another wc. I think the dust will settle and patterns will form, you'll recover...plenty of time.

On the up side having Van Persie could prove to be a surprise differential with the Rooney band wagon ever increasing. I went for Rooney...never know he may dry up....hope not.

Basically this year is proving to be a nightmare for most people.
Unless you've had Rooney, Aguero,Dzeko and possibly Young none of the real regulars have scored well.
Gone are the days of picking a Ronaldo, Fabregas, Lampard or Gerrard and being able to relax.
The pricing of the players this year has been steep to say the least and the sub-6million players are doing naff-all.
Chelsea and Man.City rotation is a nightmare, gone are the days of Drogba/Anelka.
Arsenal continue to let people down for those who put faith in them, and then there was the Torres scenario!
N'Zogbia is doing nothing, and the top teams aren't even keeping clean sheets, so then people are picking points up off Newcastle defenders etc!!!

        Good point Villian.
I tend to think us guys on here maybe study it all too much, with regards to all the variables in rest'rotation etc.
The guys above me in my league have had Rooney as captain all the way through.

Assuming you rotate between sess and dyer, would go with Wright-Phillips - rotates well with dyer and same cost, see how he does tomorrow. Had a great preseason and will be given a free role.

Another choice that rotates well is any mid from newcastle. If Ben Arfa was back would be the perfect choice.

Whatever you do, dont pick Ramsey even though rotates well, he will have gametime limited
