The most anticipated showdown this weekend unquestionably comes at Old Trafford and Sir Alex Ferguson looks set to recall plenty big names after making eight changes to his midweek Champions League starting lineup for the trip to Benfica. Opposite number Andre Villas-Boas, will once again be without Didier Drogba but elsewhere has an almost fully-fit squad to choose from.

Rafael Van der Vaart is doubtful so Emmanuel Adebayor should continue up top with Jermain Defoe for the visit of Liverpool; Kenny Dalglish is without Glen Johnson and must decide whether to keep Andy Carroll benched. Arsene Wenger welcomes back Gervinho and Alex Song from suspension for the trip to Blackburn, whilst new signings Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun should keep their places- the Israeli played furthest forward of the Arsenal midfield trio in the midweek draw at Dortmund.

Roberto Mancini will likely rotate some of his side at Fulham after their efforts against Napoli on Wednesday. Mick McCarthy could be without key marksman Steven Fletcher and may push Stephen Ward up front from left-back as they face QPR. Emmerson Boyce is rated 50/50 for Wigan’s game at Goodison Park, which could see Ronnie Stam facing Leighton Baines on the flank.

It's so strange... I think if Vidic WAS playing I'd have more faith in keeping Torres.. I'm currently on 255 and have had Torres since GW2 - Am I stupid to keep faith in him?

I'm looking at Ward as a semi-long term option, not just for this weekend, should I bring in R.J. instead for the next 4-6GWs?

I understand Ward "may" be a a pseudo striker this weekend, but will he play in the D the next 4?

They will come good. Taarabt Moses and Sinclair have been incredibly unlucky but it happens. I hope this week it will turn around in our favour

keeping cole i have more pressing issues and im not in need of cash too much at the mo.

My only thoughts on that is that I am fielding 2 villa players in hope the score big (in turn simpson will not) and also cole is much more attacking and could get an assist for being tripped in the box ect. I think bosingwa could be the same

Well, since the mighty Hansen and Linker (was it lineacher in PES?)
started pontificating about the death of the strike pairing we now have:
    Rooney and Hernandez
    Adebayor and Defoe
    Long and Odemwingie
    Baines and Cahill 😉 LOL!!!!!

So with some of these new fandango strikey pairs that leaves no room for the mighty FPL prospects VanDV, Brunt etc...???

    RMT Please:

    Krul

    S Ward – Shorey – Boyota

    Silva – Jarvis – Young – M Petrov

    Rooney – Odemwinge – Dzeko

    Bench
    Vorm – Meireles – R Taylor – Bosingwa

I'm not certain on Ward & Jarvis both being included. I've got 1.6 left in the bank so a player up to 7.9 can come in. Any suggestions or other changes. Meireles & Bosingwa are staying in for next week.

I also have De Laet, Gabbidon and Simpson and am choosing to bench Simpson and De Laet. Wolves will be weaker upfront without Fletcher, and I expect Klasnic/Petrov to rip into Norwich.

Rest of the team is solid but I'll probably go with Rooney (c) over Silva.

0.5 in the bank, one free transfer. Fletcher only 25% chanse of playing. Do you think the subs are good enough to save the free transfer for next week? Would like Fletcher -> Odem, Cahill -> ? to GW 6. Better taking Long in for Fletcher this GW?

He's still possibly the most inconsistent player in the league. Can dominate one week then look dreadful the next.

To be fair, if he plays more centrally with someone who can slide through passes for him, he could be a top scorer.

think walcott is missing fabregas. lots of his assists last season came from fabregas freeing him so early and accurately that he had the relatively simple task of just rolling it across to rvp

For sure. Walcott rubbish when the ball is played to his feet. Awesome when the ball is 20 yards ahead of him.

ARGHHHHHHHH. Two huge dilemna's at the moment.

    Captain Baines or Rooney

Torres: Keep the faith against United who he usually destroys or get him out for someone 10.9 and under.

If you're chasing, captain Baines. If you're leading, captain Rooney.

It's just the fact that nearly everyone has Rooney so if he does well, you're just going to be making the same gains as everyone else. I'd say a tiny percentage will captain Baines this week so if he does do well you're laughing. Although, someone correct me if I'm wrong, Al-Habsi does have a habit of saving penalties.

Better to make the same gain there and hopefully catch up somewhere else, than to gamble on someone else and fall behind by another 30 points or so.

    Who'll your captain between:
    a)Aguero
    b)Silva
    c)Petrov
Though I have Rooney, I tempted not to give him the armband.
    what say you?

Got the captaincy on Jarvis at the moment, but think I might switch it to RvP. Arsenal scored more goals away from home than at home last season (one of only two teams to do so) and I expect Blackburn to sense weakness and attack a bit more than they might usually. Could be there for the taking for Arsenal who had such a good away record last season.

RVP's impressive goal scoring record comes from away games and he scored mid-week. Good shout IMO. If I had RVP I'd be captaining him but instead I'm debating between Rooney and Baines

Arsenal were more of a team last year and a better team, I fancy a snore fest here with maybe a goal in it.

I have RVP and the captaincy is between Jarvis and Rooney.

As an Arsenal fan, I wouldn't say we were more of a team last year. Nasri was very out of form second half of the season and Cesc was either injured, playing badly or had his mind in Barca. I think this season we'll prove to be better than last - plus we should have Vermaelen back soon and have finally ditched Clichy. Happy days.

villa have scored 2 in one game and 3 in another and fulham and wolves are both tough teams so 0-0's were not bad i think mcleish has done ok and they are playing as attacking as there players let him. i would say bent is not worth 10m with no young or downing not bent is being held back by the meanger

Depending where you are right now for points Baines could be worth captaining. If you are doing well tho, I'd say your safest option is Rooney. Dzeko and Walcott are too big of a rotation risk IMO.
