A favourable upcoming run of fixtures for Newcastle elevates Yohan Cabaye onto our updated Watchlist.

The summer signing from French champions Lille is starting to find his feet in the more frenetic Premier League and is becoming more integral to Newcastle’s style of play as the games go by. His burgeoning central midfield relationship with Cheik Tiote is beginning to click into place and while the Ivorian offers steel and solidity to the Newcastle centre, Cabaye’s passing ability and willingness to drive forward and take a shot is slowly but surely coming to fruition.

Last Saturday’s performance at Aston Villa is indicative of his growing influence – Cabaye hit the woodwork and had more attempts on goal than any player in Alan Pardew’s side in the 1-1 draw. In terms of creativity, he shone, too; only Juan Mata presented more goal scoring opportunities to his respective team mates in the Gameweek gone by.

Newcastle’s unbeaten start to the campaign and strong defensive displays mean Pardew’s side have conceded just two goals so far- the tightest defence in the top-flight- and Fantasy investment has resultantly been limited to their defence in the main. It’s understandable – with just four goals scored, they have yet to demonstrate a real cutting edge going forward but as Cabaye begins to pull the strings, an upturn in goal returns for the Toon Army faithful can surely be expected.

Joey Barton’s departure to QPR further stands the Frenchman in good stead- with set-piece duties in the bag, Cabaye will provide plenty threat with his impressive delivery.

With four home games in the next six (BLA, wol, TOT, WIG, stk, EVE) he should be afforded plenty opportunity to present himself as a strong mid-price option and coming in at just 6.0, he’s crept under the radar so far, with just 1.4% of Fantasy managers willing to take a punt.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

So, how did Gerrard look yesterday? Will he start this weekend, moving Henderson to the bench?

Think it's too soon for Gerrard to start, but expect an appearance of the bench - esp. if Liv are losing.

What are your thoughts on Dzeko vs. Aguero question? Aguero is in a hell of a form, but price difference of 2.4 is in my opinion enough to opt for Dzeko because if you have Rooney in your team, chances are your budget is in trouble and you need all the cuts you can get.

Agree, assuming that 2.4 is reinvested, the combination should make Dzeko + partner score better in the long run the Aguero + partner.....at least I hope so.

Also interested in Mata Vs Arteta....both have good game runs coming up but with Young and Silva also in my midfield I can't afford both.

Dzecko is likely to be played with Aguero so it could be either of them getting goals really.. They got Everton this weekend so wont be able to walk the ball into the net and will most likely need dzecko in the air....

      Its a tough one.

I for one have a forward line of Bent, Rooney and Dzecko and am likely to ship Bent out for Adebayor this week.. Not worth worrying about Aguero yet...

I am thinking the same thing. Adebayor is in good form and moderatly priced, and with Dzeko and Aguero both likely to score goals, ill be happy with 2.4 investing in middlefielder. Now there is just a question of whether to play RvP and Suarez sometimes in the future.

As for the Mata/Arteta dillema i think Mata will prove to be the most creative option for Chelsea. In Arsenal, midfield can be dominated from several players and i think Mata will have more dominating influence in Chelsea than Arteta in Arsenal. + Chelsea has a better goal run and i think slightly better fixtures.

Thank Yorick, I think the same. Arsenal have RVP, Walcott and Gervinho further up in the pecking order so they should hog most of the points. Chelsea look likely to rely quite heavily on Mata considering Torres is still not 100%, even if he does get into form I can see Mata being his main supplier.

Sorry for the repost, would really appreciate some help on this.

Can anyone suggest what to do with 2 free transfers and this team:

    Vorm (Krul)
Enrique, Bosingwa, Ward (De Leat, Hall)
    Young, Nasri, Arteta, Cabaye (Dyer)
    Rooney, Suarez, Dzeko

Obviously the defenders could do with upgrading (I’d love to put Kompany in long term) but I’m not sure where to get the funds from. Who, if anyone, should I consider downgrading to finance this? Failing this is there a straight swap worth doing? It seems sacrilege to waste transfers in this game…

Can you do de Laet to Simpson? I’d definitely do that if you can afford it.

If you really want Kompany, you could downgrade Cabaye to someone like Moses, and then do Enrique to Kompany, but I'd hate to recommend Moses, having had him since the start...

kompany - bosingwa - de laet - ward - simpson
    brunt - silva - a.young - moses - dyer

No way you want De Laet and Ruddy in your defence, Norwich won't keep many clean sheets and Ferguson really needs to be changed to someone who will at least play.

I've got Lescott, still waiting for his forward threat to pay off. And he's dropped to 6.4 🙁

Once de Jong is back, I think the clean sheets and bonus for Kompany will return.

ok, this is one of the weirder ones today

starting out with a double signing of aguero and adebayor
then following up later this week with nani and barnett
    thats -12

im thinking... this is as good a time as any to wildcard!

this is my current team. id love your feedback

    given, vorm
bosingwa, ward-brown, simpson-barnett (hyphen signify rotation)
    nani, silva, taarabt, jarvis, moses
    rooney, aguero, adebayor

At present it's looking likely that Valencia might see a lot of action at RB. Nani and Young don't look like they'll be dropped - but they'll miss the odd game when given a rest.

I'm going to wait on the match to see but may well do it. If they perform equally, Young 10.4, Nani 9.9, pocket 0.3 to invest elsewhere. I think it's good business.

Jarvis > Barton or Dzeko > Defoe? I have Rooney, Dzeko and Aguero, and part of me is happy to just keep it that way - Dzeko and Aguero will usually play, and almost always one of them at least, and on those days one is rotated, I can have Dyer as an automatic sub anyway... And how come no-one has Defoe??

The ultimate (and affordable) defence has to be Bosingwa Woodgate Warnock Bramble and Simpson
Am I the only one that doesnt see it? Surely 5.5/4.5/5/4.4/4 is cheap enough to fit in big guns elsewhere
You can play Bosingwa week in week out, and out of the other 4, there is ALWAYS 2 that play at home until seasons end...get on it
