Chelsea’s kind run of upcoming fixtures bodes well for Andre Villas-Boas’ side as they look to recover from last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

While Villas-Boas’ quick passing game and personnel decisions rapidly lessen the importance of previous Fantasy favourites such as Frank Lampard and Florent Malouda, Juan Mata’s role in the new-look Chelsea side grows ever more crucial with each passing fixture.

It’s impossible to say just what effect the failed bid for Luka Modric has had on Villas-Boas’ thinking in terms of team set-up and structure but at present, it’s clear that Mata’s creative streak will be at the hub of Chelsea’s attacks. The somewhat unfortunate loss at the hands of Man United saw Mata involved throughout- he presented more goalscoring opportunities last week than any other player across the ten league fixtures.

Crucially, Mata even seems to have leapt ahead of Lampard in the queue for set-pieces; he took all of Chelsea’s corners in the first half at Old Trafford (ie, when Lampard was on the pitch) and it was his direct free-kick that eventually led to John Terry’s goal at Sunderland a couple of weeks back.

Two goals in four games are indicative of his eye for goal and quick integration to his new side and with (SWA, bol, EVE, qpr, ARS, bla) up next for the Blues, Mata will be key as Villas-Boas’s side look to step up their chase of the champions. While the Chelsea forwards also offer little form or certainty of game time, Mata -at 9.5 in FPL- is presenting quite a case for himself as the Blues attacking player of choice as the new campaign continues to unfold.

    Hi all,
First time RMT peeps so your help is appreciated! But questions remain between:

    a)
    Krul
    Evans | Simpson | Kompany | Bosingwa
    Mata | Silva | Young
    Best | Aguero (c) | Rooney

Subs: Vorm | Faurlin | Dyer | Ferdinand (Anton)

    And
    b)
    De Gea
    Evans | Simpson | Kompany | Bosingwa
    Barton | Silva | Young | Brunt
    Aguero (c) | Rooney

Subs: Vorm | Best | Dyer | Ferdinand (Anton)

Basically do I risk rotating 2 cut price keepers to bolster my midfield and to get Mata in, or do play it safe with a good keeper and have mid range midfield cover with Brunt and Barton?
    Cheers!

    Fixtures favour the brave...

was thinking utd have a strong defence so there's value in clean sheets, and with most teams still trying to test him out he's getting to have to make quite a lot of saves = extra bonus points

2 cut price keepers + mata. After Norwhich next gameweek, United have Liverpool @Anfield and then City. I would look to pick up De Gea after that.

You have to include your second keeper in that. Because of the nature of keepers you are basically spending extra on Cech to make your second keeper surplus to requirements. Its almost like picking Ferguson

Final post before I log off for the weekend.
    Here's my WC team;
Krul Vorm - Good rotation and cheap
Bosingwa Warnock Shawcross Bramble Simpson - Bosingwa + Perfect rotation, relatively cheap.
    Silva Mata Nani Petrov Dyer
Suarez Rooney Odemwingie - keeping the faith with Suarez and Odem.
0.2 in the bank, any last thoughts?

So I’ve already made my transfers for the week but I can’t fight the urge to tinker further. Please help me re-gain my sanity and talk me out of it :). I’m thinking of getting rid of Odem because WBA have been less than impressive to say the least but he does have good fixtures coming up. Surely not worth a hit right?! Possibly for Bendtner or Agbonlahor if Bent/Heskey are out? Have 0.8 in the bank and currently lined up like this:

    GK: Krul

DEF: Bosingwa – Hutton – De Laet (if he plays)

MID: Silva – Mata – Arteta – Taarabt

FWD: Rooney – Adebayor – Odemwingie

BENCH: Vorm – Sinclair – Hughes - Ward

Dont take the hit...Just w8 out 2 days...especially since Odemwingie aint been playing bad and returns aint confirmed on Bendtner...maybe Abonlahor but think about it, if he scores 10 points, you end up taking 6 from those and 4 go but if u keep Odemwingie and he scores 6 considering favourable fixtures then it would be worth it...anyway defo think u shuld keep it...plenty of points in the bag for u this week with silva, mata, arteta, bosingwa playing at home...not worth the hit...w8 a week and bring Abonglahor in

The question is who to captain:

Silva in form and great midfielder but against Everton. City are doing always bad against Everton and also he could go of early due to the CL game or

Suarez - haven't done much for a long time but Wolves seems like they are on down and I definitely see Liv scoring 2 - 3 goals. But Suarez has 3 blanks in a row, so I prefer having captains that are in form, nor someone due to a goal, or haven't exploded yet.

So please opinion who and why?

    Given
    Bos Enrique Kompany jones
    Petrov nani silva
    Roondog Suarez adebayor

    Subs: Simpson Moses tiote

Should I swap Simpson for petrov, will petrov manage anything against arsenal? I'm concerned and Newcastle have been so solid..

I've put Simpson in this week as I can't see Blackburn doing anything against Newcastle. I would gamble Moses in favour of Petrov as Wigan have lost their main striker Rodallega and may play Moses just off Di Santo. Their home form suggests that they might get a goal against Tottenham.
