Last night’s international round-up was typically fraught with panic for Fantasy managers. Most Premier League players survived relatively unscathed, though the prognosis on the odd one or two is still awaited. A few more days till Tuesday’s matches then we can start planning again…

France coach Laurent Blanc is sweating over the availability of Yohan Cabaye and Patrice Evra. At a post-match press conference last night, Blanc confirmed the pair have suffered ankle and thigh injuries respectively but admitted he’s uncertain as to whether they’ll be fit for Tuesday’s game with Bosnia:

It is too soon to tell. We will assess the situation tomorrow and we will likely decide on Sunday if they can play.

While Newcastle and Man United anxiously await the prognosis for both, reports suggest Cabaye is positive over the knock. French football writer Matt Spiro tweeted after the 3-0 win over Albania:

Had a chat with Cabaye after France game. Doesn’t seem to worry about ankle injury. Can’t stop saying positive things about Newcastle!

Ashley Young also gave Man United cause for concern last night. Having scored then assisted England’s two goals in Moldova, the winger was withdrawn just after an hour and subsequently held an ice pack to his knee.

Switzerland’s game with Wales saw Philippe Senderos tweak a muscle in the warm-up. The centre half has been out of favour at Fulham over the last few weeks, though, and has failed to see any game time since Gameweek four, despite Aaron Hughes’ knock.

Michael Dawson has suffered a setback in his recovery from an Achilles injury. The centre half hasn’t featured for Spurs since Gameweek three, though luckily for Harry Redknapp, Ledley King has been able to defy his own knee problems and fill in alongside Younes Kaboul for four games on the spin now. Redknapp had hoped Dawson would be back earlier than the initial two month prognosis, but the centre half revealed he’s had to slow down his rehabilitation:

I was outside running earlier in the week but the Achilles was still a little sore, so I’ve had to take a step back and concentrate on working in the gym.

Spurs received more bad news on the injury front yesterday. Tom Huddlestone has undergone surgery on his recurring ankle problem and is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks. The midfielder hasn’t featured since last August, though the recent acquisition of Scott Parker has more than lessened the blow.

Reports suggest Nemanja Vidic is on course to fit for Man United’s match with Liverpool a week today. The Serbian has been sidelined since the opening day of the season with a calf injury but has been given permission to join up with his international squad this week. If he starts and subsequently comes through Tuesday’s game with Slovenia, Vidic looks likely to play some part in next weekend’s showdown.

Liverpool’s Glen Johnson has also penciled in the Anfield match as his comeback game. The right-back aggravated his hamstring in last month’s away loss at Stoke but speaking to liverpoolfc.tv yesterday, feels confident of being available:

I’m feeling good at the moment and I’ve been doing plenty of running. I’ve just started doing ball work outside in training so I reckon it won’t be too long now. I’m working hard and it would be nice to be back in the squad for the Man United game. Hopefully I can make the bench anyway, so fingers crossed.

Leon Osman has been talking of his new role at Everton in light of Mikel Arteta’s departure to Arsenal. In an interview with the club’s official website, he was asked if he’d taken on more responsibility since the Spaniard’s departure and Osman replied:

Most probably, yes. I have found myself playing a bit more centrally, which has been good for me and hopefully I can continue to do so. The more I can get on the ball, the better. I am sure any footballer will tell you they want to be on the ball and I like to get on it and make things happen.

Injury-jinxed Kieron Dyer faces further time on the sidelines at QPR. The midfielder lasted just six minutes of the season opener before limping out with a foot injury but has suffered a serious setback and is unlikely to be available for selection before Christmas.

Not too stupid, Aguero [at least currently] carries a lot of doubt still while playing a fairly good at the back Villa and Rooney is away at Liverpool - their captaincy credentials aren't the highest, which is a big help.

Quite likely I won't have either this week and while it'd be nice, I don't see it as a demonic move not to.

      De Laet to Saylor/ Schawcross/ Gabbidon/ Enrigue.

Other is good, next upgrade Ferguson but this week all your front 7 are ok so he could sit still one more GW. On the other hand Gabby could be benched this week. Hmmmmm... Its up to you, its either De Laet or Ferguson.

P.S. That Steven lad is waste of space in defense

I'm in a similar boat: looking at binning SWP or Larsson for Ramsey (already have Sinclair) and getting Kompany in for Jones.

Taraabt may not even play after his antics last week. Ramsey has two good fixtures upcoming, whilst Norwich are also good for giving away a penalty, so Sinclair has some appeal. I'd go with Ramsey. QPR too unpredictable and not full of goals at present.

On form, he will easily be ahead of Rio.
I think he will play 90% of games, rotating with Rio and Smalling at CB and RB.
Chelsea are a better team than Liverpool, and look what he did to them.

It's never been the way I look at it Jack, though it has merit in the case. I plan my teams over longer periods and often need that following transfer anyway so it would be a hit at some point. I have been very lucky with my hits particularly this year, so perhaps I look at them differently.

Not worth a hit, take him out next week.
Even if Ramsey scores 4 points more you'll only break even, never worth the gamble in my opinion.

Get Rooney or Aguero (if passed fit)
Its too big a risk without both, they'll score massively this season.
If you want to keep Young and Nani then bring in Aguero.
If you bring Rooney in then Young to Nasri is an option - keeps you with two attackers from City and United.
Best is a gamble - I prefer sturridge if you can manage it.
Dont like Cahill, Bolton are shipping goals.

Nani was the best player last season and seems to have picked up where he left off. Mata will not out score him.

Ideally it would be Ramsey and Nani but if you cant afford that then Petrov seems to be playing well and his fixtures look good.

Whats the opinion of the Spurs fans in here, will VDV start before Defoe? Harry has said he will have to choose between them...

Personally I'd be amazed if Defoe started, even with VDV's comments. I think he's twice the player of Defoe who is hugely overrated but just wondering what Spurs fans reckon before I look to bring him in.

defoe has played well this season, the only thing that has changed since last week is VDV was so bad defensively that he's almost played himself out of the right mid position. nothing has changed defoe's end. i thought half the reason vdv was on the right was because tottenham didn't really have another option there, lennon isn't 100% fit, kranjcar is injured and in the bigger games 'arry wants modric in the middle. until lennon can sort his life out or 'arry can persuade modric to play out on the right (or left with bale and him swapping sides during matches, also allows sandro to come into the side) then i don't see why VDV is an automatic choice to push defoe out the side.

I always thought VDV was nailed on when fit so this has come as a surprise to me cos I was always thinking of getting him in for this run of games but not so sure now....

Was reading Spurs forum earlier as I am also interested in this.
      They seem to think 4-4-1-1 is by far their better option when Lennon is back, however until then it is either;
      Bale Parker Modric Vdv
      Defoe Adebayor
      or
      Sandro Parker
      Bale VdV Modric
      Adebayor
So i think VdV is safe either way as well, they don't really have anyone that can play on the right at the moment do they?

            I haven't got him so I don't care.
I'm just saying it from a footballing perspective. VdV hasn't been dropped (yet?) and they haven't had a full team to decide on so it is too hard to tell, but i'd think VdV would be in most clubs starting 11, especially considering Defoe's inconsistency (I know VdV is inconsistent too, but even when he plays shit he scores goals or assists)

I tend to disagree a little.
He has dominated Arsenal for 2 years running now, and I don't think anybody in the Spurs team would have been able to do that.
He looked sluggish last week, yet was still able to score, and set up 2-3 goal scoring chances when he played o.o.p
Not saying he isnt more of an individual, which he obviously is, but he does bring more to them then Defoe does, in the end, it is all about scoring goals, and VdV was their main source last year and is proving it again that he is this year.

take last game for example, he scored a goal which should have been disallowed, then was at fault for the arsenal equaliser.then he went off and they scored the winner.
last season he scored a penalty and a very well taken goal on top of that. other than that his lack of anything defensive allowed fabregas and nasri to get more of a foot hold in the game and for arsenal to score their goals.
he's a vacuum which is great for FPL (i'm likely buying him next gw) but not necessarily for tottenham who got into the top 4 without himt, fell out the top four with him. this season he wasn't part of tottenham at their most rampant against liverpool and wolves, but was there when they got completely overrun by man utd and man city. putting all this down to VDV would be foolish but i think eventually 'arry will eventually get a better idea of what real madrid and the netherlands have already realised and find VDV is an individually very gifted luxury. great to have if you can get him the ball but you need to get him the ball and win it back for him too

That is exactly why he isnt a right winger, which he said so himself.
Plus, you cannot blame the majority of that on him. Last week, a substitution was needed, I have no doubt that if Defoe or even Adebayor went off for Sandro and VdV went to that supporting striker role, that they would have done just as good.
Liverpool were down to 9 men, and Wolves have been useless lately. Both Manchesters are in tremendous form, I highly doubt that VdV's absence or presence would have dramatically changed either of those results.

VDV was on when liverpool had 9 men, the side without vdv dominated the 11 man liverpool. the manchester losses just show how little he offers when part of a struggling team who can't do the work for him.

        Really, Defoe before VDV, interesting.
VDV always looks so dangerous to me...

On another note I really dont rate Lennon at all, I think he has no business in a top 4 team. A top 4 squad maybe but team no. I can see him starting because he's the only right sided player spurs seem to have...

        Cheers

As I said, Spurs fans seem to have VdV in any situation, with the two formations I said depending on who they play..but I guess we will find out later.
I see Rafa being dropped this week, for being unproffessional in a way, and then returning to starting team after a brief 1 week stint on the bench.

Maybe I'll keep that transfer for another week and see what Harry is up to but if VDV is starting then I'll defo be bringing him in...
Seems perfect to have him playing off a great target man like Ade....
      Cheers all

I dont like your midfield tbh (apart from Silva). Murphy shouldn't be in there and I'm not convinced on Ramsey yet. Petrov has been alright but can he keep it up? And Bale is extremely overrated - will get 2's and 3's for weeks then score really high one week then back to 2's and 3's etc..

Also I would do Bosingwa to Kompany - more nailed on and MC have been better defensively than Chelski.

      Nice
IF Vorms form continues I cant see any real problems there but I feel Swansea will eventually be found wanting at the back so Given or Begovic would be my choices.
In the long run I'd have Aguero before RVP because Arsenal are playing so poorly and he has far less chances this season without Fabregas and Nasri - but hat all depends on Aguero's fitness.
Otherwise RVP is a good bet for the next two weeks...

Might do Brown --> Woodgate. Already got a Sunderland player in the form of the mighty Bendtner, and Woodgate seems a good price at 4.5 + Stokes fixtures are alright. Thoughts? Dont want to waste it, but dont think this week has high scores written all over it.l

Vorm, Bos, Komp, VDV, Silva, Arteta, Rooney, Suarez - 8 good starters (assuming VDV does start) so its not looking too bad.
Taarabt is a wildcard, leave him in V Blackburn tho, they're rubbish.
Maybe next week look at Martin Petrov - good fixtures, free's up some cash and Klasnic will be back to help Bolton.

I'd do Bendtner out, Sturridge in this week

Who are people captaining next week? I'm going for RVP against Sun (h) because everyone else has a hard game.

If you've got RVP it has to be him

Fixture wise he is the obvious choice but I don't like to pick by fixtures, it would help to know the likely Gunners line-up. My thinking is that it will be:

        Chesney (could be Fabianski/Almunia)
        Jenkinson Mertesacker Song Gibbs
        Ramsey Frimpong
        Walcott Arteta Gervinho
        RVP

and that doesn't look like a strong team.
