With clean sheets proving hard to come by for many teams, Goal Threat from the back is an ever-crucial facet when eyeing up Fantasy defensive options.

In this latest article for Members, we focus on defenders who have played four or more league games this season, selecting the top ten performers and, when applicable, compare their stats to last term’s in order to ascertain whether there’s been an improvement or a drop in their offensive threat…

I think you should be able to have more than 2 free transfers too. I don't see why not, it's not like it would be a hugely unfair strategy to make no transfers in the first 10 weeks and then 10 at a time.

I agree. If people don't wanna look at their team and save up transfers then let them. They won't do well if they don't change their captain, sub order etc. I reckon we should be allowed to have as many transfers as we can save up. For instance, I haven't needed a transfer really all season and only used them when I felt I had to but this week, while I'll probably use 2, I could to with 3 freebies

Any chance for some feedback? Got serious attacking problems and will want to do my transfers today I think as RVP will rise and Aguero fall. I think.

    Vorm, Ruddy
Kompany, Bosingwa, S Taylor, (Ward, De Laet)
    Nani, Mata, Silva, Petrov, (Dyer)
    Aguero, Odemwingie, Adebayor

Aguero->RVP is what I want to do but I'm 0.1 away so will need to do another transfer to fund it. Currently looking at Ward -> Wilkinson (Stoke), with Dyer able to replace Adebayor if he doesnt start. Got any better ideas? DO YOU?

Wow, 9 replies. Thanks a lot everybody.

A problem I forgot to mention is that if I don't sell either Aguero or Adebayor I'll have a crap player coming on for them if they're both rested, which I think they will be.

The big problem with getting Woodgate instead of Wilkinson is that I will not be able to get Suarez in for the next weeks if he looks good. If I go with a 4m defender I can get him in much easier for Odem or Adebayor if I feel I need him.

Biggest reason why I want RVP is that I feel he'll give me a much better captaincy choice than the one I have. He might actually break my season record of 5 points for captains.

96 yes, the others no. The cold facts are we are a quarter final / 1st knock out round quality team meaning we are essentially between the 5th and 16th best team since pretty much 1990. How we can ever be looked at as higher is beyond me. I know people who have kept the faith for longer than me but all mine has gone at only 26! If we get out the group in the Euros we will have done well and anything more than that is a bonus.

98 we were excellent, we won le tournoi the year before and were only knocked out by the bloody pens after the beckham argie business. 02 we were fresh off whipping the germans 5-1 and played some excellent football. I watched the Eng/Argentina 02 match again recently and we played some beautiful football. Lost to a excellent Brazil team, no shame there.

And what's more, England managed that in the stifling heat.

              Sven was an excellent manager.

Le Tournoi might have had good teams in but it was a nothing tournament. Theirs always an excuse tho, someone getting injured, pens etc. Maybe we should have learned to take a decent penalty and prepare better mentally. Their was no shame losing to Brazil but they were a man down and we were leading at one point. The fact is we were no where near winning those tournaments, we did well tho getting where we got to. We just need to adjust expectations and as I said be glad when we get to a quarter final.

              🙂

It's true though, an awful Greek side won it. Any side reaching the quarter finals had a great shot of the title. It's the best chance Sweden has had since 94 too, we were unlucky as fook to go out to Holland on penalties. Then we had Czech who were my favourites but had an injury to Nedved and collapsed.

England also had Rooney making his international breakthrough, which is a great great thing. Looking through the history you can find loads and loads of winning teams that have been hugely helped by a youngster bursting onto the scene that the other teams can handle. Somebody should write an article about that. It's a great bonus.

Oh and don't expect things from me, I'm much more stupid than most people believe.

I think it's a huuuuge problem for England. The Welbeck/Sturridge combo failed to light up the u21 euro this summer and should struggle greatly against proper players. A form topped Carroll could be good, but my faith in him is, well, limited.

Cheers guys. I've got no spurs coverage, but that doesn't bug me too much as they face a tight Newcastle defense this week. Also, Mata has better fixtures for the next couple of weeks. Thinking of dropping mata for Adebayor, RVP to Aguero, and dropping Sturridge to...someone cheap to fuel either Bale (need spurs cover) in the next couple of gameweeks for a 2 point hit...hope that sounds reasonable.

Bale is deserving of love, this weekend certainly. If I remember correctly(ish), Toon have conceded a far higher % of goals from their right flank (alongside Fulham, Etherington owners/watchers take note) than most other sides in the league, which could play into Bale's hands....

Hey guys, on a WC, so would appreciate your thoughts on this effort:

    Begovic Hennessy
Bosingwa Kompany Simpson N Taylor Boyata
    Silva Nani Ramsey Petrov Dyer
    Rooney Van Persie Sturridge

Playing it fairly safe with this I know, but I wouldn't be averse to a risky differential suggestion or two!

Same forward line and most of the Mids that I have in my W/C team, but different defence.

The goalkeeper rotation looks good, but how many clean sheets is Hennessy going to keep?

Vorm doesn't rotate quite as well with Bego but Swansea at home look very solid and Vorm is an International class G/K.

        That's my thinking, anyway.
