It’s a pared-down Scribbles on the menu this morning, ahead of today’s press conferences. More on the Carlos Tevez saga, Kenny Dalglish continues to urge caution over Steven Gerrard and Arsene Wenger reckons he has plenty of options for the Arsenal right-back spot…

Reports in the Guardian suggest Roberto Mancini and Carlos Tevez held peace talks at the Man City manager’s house late Wednesday evening. Tevez, however, refused to apologise for his behaviour at the Allianz Arena over a fortnight ago and as a result, was forced to train alone yesterday after his two-week club ban was served.

Tony Pulis has some selection problems ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Fulham. Stoke face a run of seven games over twenty days and Pulis is sweating over the fitness of Matt Etherington, Jermaine Pennant, Marc Wilson and Kenwyne Jones as the Cottagers make their way to the Britannia. Speaking to the club’s official website, Pulis acknowledged:

All the lads are training and in with a shout of returning, but it’s a massive call because of all the games we have coming up. We don’t want to rush players back too quickly and then find they have to miss a couple of weeks because they have a reaction.

Despite Bacary Sagna’s absence with a broken ankle, Arsenal have plenty of alternatives for the right-back role, according to Arsene Wenger. The Gunners boss was speaking to Arsenal Player yesterday and feels he has several strong options available, ahead of Sunday’s home game with Sunderland:

We have Jenkinson, we have Koscielny – who has been educated as a right-back – we have Djourou who can play right-back. Koscielny was always a right-back, so he can play there. Even Andre Santos can play there, I think, so we have plenty of possibilities.

Kenny Dalglish remained coy over the possibility of Steven Gerrard starting against Man United in Saturday’s early kick-off at Anfield. While the papers are full of stories suggesting the Reds skipper is a nailed-on starter, Dalglish was a little more cautious yesterday when discussing Gerrard’s long-term groin problem and insisted his skipper’s star performances in previous campaigns will have no bearing on his thinking:

We’ll continue to manage it as well as we have done. We’re not in any position to sit here and disclose our team for two days’ time. But we’re delighted with the progress he’s made and the way he’s been looked after, and we’ll just continue to do that. When we think he’s ready to play, he’ll be the first to answer the call….It’s not to do with what he’s done against Manchester United before. We don’t look back into history and see what he’s done to Manchester United.

Nemanja Vidic’s return to action last Tuesday for Serbia looks set to hand Sir Alex Ferguson a major boost for the Liverpool game. Plagued with a calf problem, the Man United skipper has failed to feature since the opening day of the season but Fergie hinted he’ll leave it to the player himself to decide whether he’s ready for the Anfield showdown:

The big question mark is whether Vidic is ready for the game. Nemanja came in yesterday and felt okay, but a Liverpool game is such an intense, draining affair, you want everybody to be 100 per cent. It may be down to how he feels himself, we’ll have to see.

Gabby Agbonlahor is looking likely to be passed fit for Aston Villa’s testing trip to Man City. Alex McLeish’s side put their unbeaten record on the line at the Emirates and according to the Villa boss, Agbonlahor’s back problem came through an intensive training session unscathed yesterday:

Gabby has trained. We are very pleased with the way he has trained. Today was the most intense session for him. We put him through it a wee bit and he came through with flying colours. We expect him, barring a nightmare in training tomorrow, to be okay for the game at City.

Leon Britton is set to feature for Swansea this weekend, after missing the previous game against Stoke. While the Swans defence and the likes of Scott Sinclair have been the focus of most of the attention, Brendan Rodgers has hailed the midfielder as integral to his first-team and is delighted to welcome him back ahead of the trip to Carrow Road.

He’s been fantastic for us this season. Leon offers the team so much balance and control and it’s good to have him available for selection.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Bit of a quandry ... I WC'd to;

    Vorm
    Kompany, Bosingwa, Jones
    Silva, Nasri, Murphy, Ramsey
    Rooney, Suarez, Adebayor
    (Enrique, Simpson, Ferguson)

but due to injury and rotation news I'm in a pickle over Nasri & Adebayor. Considering swapping them for Sturridge & VdV for a 1 week safety and bringing Adebayour back the week after. Thoughts much appreciated!

Will I'm doing the same thing... Except I would have Sturridge and vdv for a couple of weeks, then make the transfers to avoid a hit. I think Sturridge has two good fixtures ahead without a rotation risk and vdv will work for a couple of weeks with spurs...

      Hi, I'm anyone.
First, let's simplify it to SWP & Dzeko or Sinclair & Suarez.
Second, SWP is a good shout this week but an bad choice long-term. Sinclair & Suarez is a bit riskier this week but definitely a better shout later on.

Dunne has sort of something to prove too. And City's strikers are either injured, back from being injured, tired after internationals, or suspended by the club. And something irrational tells me that it's time for City to unexpectedly lose points.
But it's definitely still a madness, yes.

First post so don't bite. Only second season doing FPL.

Here is where I`m at -

    Vorm (Ruddy)
Ward Enrique Kompany (Simpson, De Laet)
Mata Silva (C) Young Dyer (Obertan)
    Adbayor Suarez Van Persie

355 points chasing 405 leader (after his 12 point hit this week). 0.8 in bank.

Gonna stick this week but considering Van Persie to Sturridge and Obertan to Gerrard next week.
Would need to do it tomorrow to avoid Sturridge rising again (I think).

    Opinions please.

Not worth it whatsoever. No sense in getting rid of RVP before a home game with Stoke, especially when you're doing so to get Gerrard!

I'd just look at something like Obertan > Petrov this week, and then bench Dyer.

Cheers, just not convinced by VP this season had him 4 weeks and only produced 2 goals. for that price I expect more.
I was planning to keep him if he scores this weekend but may not be able to do the transfers I want if sturridge goes up again. Could always just wait I suppose.

I agree he is not worth the price this season. Not because he isn't a quality striker, he is. But he is not getting the same service from his midfield as he did last season with Fabregas/Nasri.

I have him but if he doesn't perform in the next couple at home then he is probably out.

I can see why you would be getting unsettled by RVP's form and returns of late, but the fact of the matter is he is Arsenal's main goal threat and goal getter, he can score in a game without even thinking about it most games, I would try and hold him, but I guess if he doesn't grab some points this weekend, taking him out would be a calculated risk, particularly where you are getting young Sturridge.

Gerrard I would not go near for a while, who knows where he will fit into the team, Suarez will now take away a lot of the guile and creativity Gerrard once sparked, after such a long time out, where he is effectively playing for a new team (Downing/Adam hogging set pieces too) I would give it a few weeks at the very least.

Solid team. I wouldn't jump too early on the Gerrard train until you see what happens - plus, Arse won't play until Sunday ... so trading out RVP on Saturday seems fraught with danger and tears.

Obertan out will never be a bad choice, though.

Heartattack, I see little upside in RvP > Sturridge, the Gooners have good fix and Sturridge still isn't guaranteed to start week in/out.

Outing Obe-One is judgement call, but again, not sure I see much sense in Gerrard, at least not until he's proved fitness/ and shows some form. Wait and see on that, I'd say.

Your forwards look sound for the long-term I'd say, key Mids too. If it's my team, I'd use £0.5m this week to witch DeLaet (not paying, propb) to Woody, Stoke have 4 of next 6 at home and are strong at Britannia.

      Hope that helps.

          Calculated risk.

Do you need Young->Mata to finance Aguero->RVP?

Will Mata score 4pts more than Young? I doubt it personally.
Will RVP score 4pts more than Aguero, given Aguero won't play I'd say this is a fairly safe bet.

Yes I do need to the Young -> Mata to finance Aguero -> RVP. If I don't do a midfield downgrade, then I have 11.6mil to spend on an Aguero replacement.

Please RMT. Want to increase my money league lead =)

    1 free transfer, 2.8 m extra available.

    Corm Ruddy

Bosingwa Ward R.Taylor Kompany (Wes Brown)

Silva (C) Nani Sinclair Sessegnon (Ferguson)

    Rooneh Suarez (Agbonlahor)

Been thinking of Sessegnong -> Ramsey all break. But checking odds for Ramsey scorin @ paddypower made me unsure. Ramsey is @ 5 to score, walcott is at 2.,5, chamberlain 3.3, and SESSEGNON is even better @ 4.3.. So not sure anymore O.o

That only tells you about scoring. Ramsey is more likely to come back with a couple of assists than goals I think. You could always do Ferguson->Ramsey and bench another defender. Newcastles fixtures aren't great and then you can play Sess & Ramsey.

You could always stick as you are and put a couple of quid on Ramsey with Paddy?

Elsewhere Sessegnon is 9/2 (4.5) with Unibet

Djourou's points tally of -3 is pretty impressive considering he's featured in three separate matches, and hasn't been sent off, unlike all the others with a negative points tally.

Arsenal are conceding a goal every 10.75 minutes with him in the side this season. I remember when he was a clean sheet machine last season, what the hell has happened?!

Umm ... Arse had a semblance of a team last season?

I'd wager that Arse is possessing the ball significantly less this season than during Djorou's good stretch last season ... add to it the mighty cornerstone Clichy gone ... as well as a Black Hole of morale at the club = sad days for the backline.

The 8 scored by United alone will leave a bruise ...

Huh, not as bad a drop as I imagined. Still, I wonder what the specifics of the possession is/were during the pertinent fixtures we're referencing (Dj's patch last year vs. his 3 games this year). Also: their opponents during those stretches.

But, to be blunt, was Dj ever really as good as that stretch last year made him out to be? Admittedly, I don't watch Arse fanatically, but he seems Bramble-ish to me.

Great stat JP. Quite laughable really, Djourou was a real bargain last year.

For balance we should acknowledge that Arsenal have had a pretty tough start fixtures wise.

The team is undoubtedly inferior this season but I doubt they will have much trouble scoring goals in the coming games. Clean sheets would still seem unlikely though.

I do rate him. He is quality, great ball player and in particular I thought he was one of the few shining lights in the Gunners side that faced Barca last year. Had Bendtner put away that chance Wilshere had put on a plate for him at the end, they could have won.

It's just him as a person. I just don't like the look of him.

This is really pointless input, I apologize.
