With just five games played out, Saturday satisfaction always looked unlikely. It’s fitting however, that with the big guns yet to be primed, we saw a handful of mid-price players come to the fore and deliver long overdue returns. Fitting and just little bit painful.

Jamie O’Hara started proceedings, blasting a dramatic equaliser to earn Wolves an unlikely point. Full of industry, creativity and threat, O’Hara has been an influential figure, without delivering returns for those brave enough to take a punt. Subject of our recent Members’ Monitor article and, just a couple of gameweek’s later, O’Hara has at last broke his duck. It was coming.

The start of something special? With City up next and three away games in four, it seems unlikely. Even so, O’Hara could yet figure on our radars should McCarthy get Wolves earning victories again.

A few hours later, Sunderland’s Stephane Sessegnon – another mid-price midfielder who has failed to live up to his pre-season billing, earned Steve Bruce three points with a victory at the Reebok.

Ironically, Sessegnon’s first goal of the season coincided with his shift back to the flank, as Bruce paired Connor Wickham and Nicklas Bendtner in his forward line. The Dane later converted a second for the Black Cats; Sessegnon providing the assist and fetching a belated 10-point return for the few thousand Fantasy managers who had kept the faith. Expect bonus points to follow on Monday morning and, with three home games in four to come, suddenly “Sess” is back in the game and blinking bright.

While Sunderland prevailed at Bolton, Yohan Cabaye also fired his first goal of the season to hand North East rivals Newcastle the points. The Frenchman is another Fantasy prospect that’s been touted as overdue returns. Having delivered just a couple of assists thus far, Cabaye gleefully converted to keep the Magpies buoyant and Wigan resigned to the relegation spots.

Unlike Sessegnon, Cabaye’s stock seems unlikely to rise from today’s success. Alan Pardew is now set to steer his happy ship through choppy waters, three away trips in four with Stoke, City and United presenting three of the toughest destinations around. Cabaye’s next significant return could be a good few weeks away.

Is anyone out there feeling smug? Is there really any Fantasy manager with O’Hara, Sessegnon and Cababye tucked away in their lineup? There can’t be many and yet, there will be plenty who have owned at least one of them previously, now pondering what might have been.

Having been threatening to return all season, the trio chose today to get off the mark – a day which seems set to see such modest scoring for many. That only fuels the frustration and makes their late delivery all the more difficult to accept.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

11 in other words all those players that got hat-tricks this season managed it with less shots. The guy is the most annoying player in the PL. Should have been a ridiculous score line then.

I'm sorry, but RVP > Suarez is the kind of moronic decision that would only happen on FFS. . this site just breeds retarded transfers. You've ditched the league's in form striker at home against a Stoke side who will be tired from a Euro game, for a striker who hasn't once scored double-figures all season.

I know, I know. My thinking was that given wengers comments about rotation, I can see RVP getting max half a game this GW. Then see him playing but not getting points next weekend. Stand by that. Don't think RVP will do much next 2 GWs. Jthen i can pick him back up fpr nice run of fixtures after that. ust brought in the wrong guy!

Don't try and be clever about rotation, when it's blindingly obvious that he'll start - he's captain and will get Arsenal's majority of goals.

Wenger can't afford another poor home performance vs. Stoke in front of their own fans, and are currently 11th - Arsenal 11th!!!

Wenger will rest him for the carling cup shortly and he can rest him for some of the champions league games too as they are as good as qualified now.

He will more than likely get a rest during the international break now too as holland are qualified so they will only be playing friendlies over that two week period.

I don't see RVP getting too much rest in the Premier league. They will be up against it this year to get fourth spot and that will be their priority over any other competition.

          But thats only my opinion

He was never playing in the CC so that game is not a window for rest, we also topped the CL group after 3 games last year, Wenger then rested players, got bad results, finished second and had to face Barcelona, its safe to say he will not disrespect that Cup until the group is won as he must win the group.

Stoke have a history of breaking Arsenal players, van Persie can not get injured or the season is over for Arsenal, Wenger will be aiming for 4th, he knows the league is out of reach, Liverpool dropped points today, sleep well van Persie owners that captained him.

It made me LOL when Suarez had a defender in a headlock and then appealed for a free kick when he was pushed away. Tool. He's only been in my team a week but never coming back in my team rest of season. Don't need tools like that in my team. Makes me feel dirty. Aguero?
