Arsene Wenger confirms Robin Van Persie will be fit for next weekend. Royston Drenthe admits there’s much much to come from him, now he’s match-fit, while Rafael Van der Vaart reckons his hamstring problems are now behind him. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

Arsene Wenger’s post-match press conference comments will be reassuring to Fantasy owners of Robin Van Persie. The Dutchman was, of course, named amongst the substitutes for the game against Stoke and came off the bench to score twice. The Gunners boss commented on his skipper’s omission, saying it was nothing more than a rest:

Muscular tightness. I took nineteen players because I wasn’t even sure to involve him on the team sheet. We made a check and he was medically alright to be on the bench. I looked at the number of games he played and the history he has- you have to be cautious. He played two full games for Holland then he played the whole game against Sunderland- he had to dig deep, he played up front alone against Marseille…

When asked if Van Persie would be fully fit for this weekend’s game with Chelsea, Wenger confirmed:

Yes. He was not injured (against Stoke), it was just tight muscular- he will be fit.

Adel Taarabt still pines for a move to PSG. The Moroccan almost left QPR in the summer after being linked with the big-spending French giants for months but the transfer ultimately failed to materialise. According to Taarabt, this was down to sporting director Leonardo having doubts about his temperament and admits that while the club promised him they’d reassess the situation in the new year, he’s not getting his hopes up.

The Qatar officials told me ‘do another great six months and in January we will be back’. However, I am under no illusion. I know I am not Leonardo’s priority.

Kolo Toure has also thrown his hat into the ring for a move to Paris. The centre-half has struggled for game time at Man City since coming back from a six month ban and, speaking to RMC Sport admitted:

If the name of Paris comes, it will not be like previous years.I would be interested because of the competition there currently is at City. Now if they call me, I would listen to what they say. Given the very good players there are there, it really makes you want to go there, it’s clear.

Shane Long could be sidelined for up to six weeks after a challenge from Alan Hutton forced him out last weekend’s Midlands derby. A scan on his knee revealed the West Brom forward has severe bone bruising and a small bone chip inside the right knee. This would enhance the Fantasy prospects of Somen Tchoyi over the next few gameweeks then, with the Cameroonian a strong favourite to see more game time in a forward role alongside Peter Odemwingie.

Rafael Van der Vaart admits he has sympathy for Jermain Defoe as the two battle for a place alongside Emmanuel Adebayor up front for Tottenham. The Dutchman is clearly winning the tussle, despite a strong start to the domestic season for Defoe, who has scored 3 goals already, just 1 less than last season’s tally. Van der Vaart also spoke of his problematic hamstring, declaring he is completely injury-free right now:

I feel that I am a starting player so I am not worried about starting, but of course I feel sorry for Jermain. I feel also that we can play together, so we will have to see what happens throughout the season…I am now 100 per cent fit. I am playing and I am scoring goals – I can’t do any more than that. Every day I am feeling better. I do not have to manage the injury, now I can do whatever I need to do on the pitch. In the beginning you have to be quite careful and you feel scared a little bit but now I hope it stays like this.

Steve Bruce has set Nicklas Bendtner a target of 15 league goals for Sunderland this season. The big Dane has had an immediate impact since his loan move to Wearside, returning 2 goals, 3 assist and 5 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in five matches and, wiith a favourable run of fixtures on the horizon, looks set for Fantasy investment. His boss talked up Bendtner’s goalscoring abilities

Nick is a good finisher – a very good finisher – and there’s no reason why he cannot get 15 goals a season. I think Nick has found it difficult because Arsenal play one up front, which is Robin Van Persie, so he has not had the opportunity to play where he wants to play.I think he suffered because he was not playing regularly at Arsenal. I don’t care how good you are or which club you are at, if you do not play regularly it becomes very difficult. He is getting that now…I think there is a lot more to come from Nicklas.

Kenny Dalglish has praised Craig Bellamy after the Welshman grabbed a goal in his first league start for Liverpool since returning to the club. Bellamy was handed a role out wide in the 1-1 draw against Norwich but, while Luis Suarez spurned chance after chance, managed to find the net and his manager has been delighted with his approach:

He has been brilliant. He just loves playing football and wants to play all the time.He would certainly be much happier if he was playing more but he understands the situation maybe more than when he was younger. He will make a contribution for us.

With a goal and two assists in his first league start for Everton, Royston Drenthe underlined his capabilities to David Moyes last Sunday. The Dutchman reckons there’s plenty more to come from him and admits his manager’s training regime has helped him improve his fitness considerably:

Before I started to play, the manager killed me in training. He made me run a lot and now I feel really fit and great. That’s what I wanted – to be sharp. I don’t want not to be fit and then come into a game and not be able to handle the pressure. I feel good now. The fans can expect more.

Aston Villa have appealed the red card handed to Chris Herd on Saturday afternoon against West Brom. The player was dismissed for an alleged stamp on Jonas Olsson but Alex McLeish is confident the ban will be rescinded, after tv replays suggested the linesman got it wrong:

We think we’ve got a good cause to lodge the appeal. He (Cann) made a guess, he’s seen something and guessed that Chris stamped. We’ve spoken through official channels and I’ve got to keep that private but am sure they’ll agree there has been a mistake.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Well on the radar after Man U is out the way.
When he was transferred wasn't there talk that he's a modified left back and might not play far forward enough or am I making that up?

He can technically play anywhere on the left, but he isn't a left back. Moyes will be playing him on the right as an inside out winger. Hopefully Coleman will get a game at full back behind him, but unlikely considering how attacking Baines is on the left.

I don't believe Man Utd is a concern over his selection personally, they're not exactly looking solid at the back. We scored 3 against them last year - it could be another high scoring game

I answered previous post, but Ward for Stoke Def was my advice. But agree on getting Ramsey, perhaps you'll have to sell 2 from Cab, Pet, Wal, bring in Dyer and Ramsey.

          It's an idea.

who would be the better choice for Sunderlands tasty fixtures coming up..?

Bedtner: BP magnet every time he scores and is well priced.

Seesegnon: Was last week the making of him out wide and cutting in or was it actually just a flash in the pan..?

Depends if you have a spare striker slot that needs filling if so I'd go for the big confident Dane but there are many good striker options.

Sessegnon was a good shout late last season and recently as he's been OOP - I think Bendtner will outscore him over the next few gameweeks now he's replaced him as the frontman...

            Not worth it IMO
I dont understand this Nani out (especially for 4 points) love..
Okay, I got rid last week, but that was a huge gamble that im now regretting
He is still a proven FPL gun and got 9 goals/18 assists last season and his fixtures coming up are brilliant.
I guess saying him and Rooney are too much could make sense, but dont forget 2-3 weeks ago they were both must haves, it is more likely (in my opinion) that Nani and Rooney will go back to being must-haves rather than continuing to flop.

He copped a knock to his shoulder and was taking off as a precaution + the fact they needed Malouda who tracks back more so im not too worried yet.

That is one hell of a strike force. Good defence too. Like Yesot says, I would down grade Kompany and upgrade Dyer.

Get rid of your Newcastle defence as they have tough fixtures. I would also downgrade Aguero as he is a big rotation threat, I think Silver is a better city cover. Kompany should also get downgraded. This will free up enough cash to seriously upgrade Dyer.

Most fittingly-named goalscorer of the week? A Heerenveen striker who claimed the opener against Utrecht when a defender whacked a clearance into his erm... crown jewels only for the (match-)ball to loop up into the net for a 'Snikkelgoal'. Ouch.

Noice. I caught someone rotten at 7-a-side on Friday, volleyed it into his balls from about four yards. Poor bastard was retching and everything. Horrific (but still sort of funny)

Don't laugh - it really isn't funny. I remember exactly the same thing happening to me at school - I was throwing up for ages. My balls disappeared so far up inside my body that they took half an hour before they could be coaxed out again.

Aye we're getting the wins together which is the main thing. Off to Pittodrie this weekend that will be a test. It's off the field that worries me.

I think with the players you have you's should be doing alot better. Lennon will get the sack if he doesnt deliver the league.

    2009/10 Results in next game after a win - W1 D3 L7

Also, how many flavours do they want to offer? How the hell am i meant to pick one? Is the plain one nice enough? I remember reading somewhere that flavoured ones sacrifice a bit of the good stuff for flavour.

Didnt he get like 88 minutes or something this week?
Read his quote above, says he is 100% fit now so may get more gametime.
Looked fit (not in that way you sicko) against Blackburn and actually covered alot of ground

Got a small favour to ask to Rooney owners. Can you please ditch him this week. I'm 0.1 away from getting him in next week and keen to get him for gwk 11. He's on 42 per cent to fall....c'mon everyone, nearly half way there. If we can get him nice and cheap by the weekend that puddin faced boy is all mine.

All good, he will likely get rested/benched for the Everton game. A huge sell-off will ensue naturally

        good man...keep em coming.

To those that think there will be a massive rooney goal explosion against everton - I urge you to check his history of playing at Everton for Man Utd. It's woeful.

Good for Nani owners, amount of people trading him out for VDV means he'll turn into a nice differential in the next week

I bought VDV against City earlier in the season, and he got an assist and injured. I sold him. He then missed a game, and has scored massive points ever since.

        Finally I bought him back.

I am not happy that I missed out on all those points, all because he was injured for 6 weeks and then made this miraculous recovery 2 weeks later...

Well exactly he can't go on scoring every other week.He will hit a plateau probably the moment he meets up with a potential top six side, which doesn't come until a lot of GWs are elapsed.Hence he is his only foe.

Just went against my my two main rules of fantasy football and made an early transfer and also took a 4point hit to get VDV in. VDV price is going to rise and rise and the players I wanted to get rid of price would more than likley drop.

    Given (Ruddy)
    Kompany – Enrique – Walker – (Simpson) – (Boyata)
    Silva – VDV – Ramsey – Walters – (Ferguson)
    Rooney – Adebayor – Suarez

All I need now is RVP but can’t see how I can afford him, because I’d have to make at least £2.6 if I was to swap him for Suerez. And RVP price will more than likely rise. I could get in a cheap defender for Kompany & make some money but is it worth it?

Yeah he is a good long term prospect. Bit of a process to get him in though, wait for Kompany's price to rise then sell him for a 4m defender and that might give you enough to swap Suarez for RVP

Ramsey is a keeper for me at that price. I also thought Kompany would be a keeper to, but I really badly want Van Persie, wish I got him in weeks ago though.

yeh i agree i would prefer to have both kompany and ramsey, but for a balanced side you cant have a bench of all cheapys.

    Would you rather?
Nani + Adebayor + Dyer (Dyer being bench-fodder every week in case of rotation/injury)
    or
Pilkington + Rooney + Bannan (Pilkington rotating with Bannan most weeks for the last spot)
