A host of early morning press conferences gives us plenty to ponder ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. Ashley Young is a doubt for United, Luis Suarez is getting treatment for a knock sustained at Stoke, while Tottenham’s injury woes appear to be easing up:

Sir Alex Ferguson’s morning press conference brought the news that Ashley Young is a doubt for tomorrow’s game with Everton. With the game at Goodison a twelve o’clock kick-off, Fantasy managers should have the team sheets before tomorrow morning’s 11.30 deadline, though. According to the United boss:

Ashley Young has got a toe injury. It’s nothing serious … hopefully we have a strong enough squad for tomorrow.

Everton have confirmed both Tim Cahill and Phil Neville are out of tomorrow’s clash. David Moyes revealed he is weighing up whether to play Louis Saha after the Frenchman played from the start to the end of extra time in the Toffees midweek Carling Cup fixture with Chelsea:

I thought it was Louis’ best game. I think the goal against Fulham has given him confidence. I think the problem we have got now is that Louis has injuries he has to look after and he’s played 120 minutes which ideally we wouldn’t have liked him to do. So again that has an effect on team selection and what we do for this game.

Kenny Dalglish was non-committal on the availability of Luis Suarez ahead of tomorrow evening’s trip to the Hawthorns. The Uruguayan limped off at Stoke in midweek, having bagged a brace in the 2-1 win at the Britannia. When quizzed on his star striker’s availability for the game with West Brom, the Liverpool boss would only say:

He’s had a bit of treatment so we’ll see how is. He’s had a tough time recently, so we’ll see how he is tomorrow.

Harry Redknapp gave an update on the fitness situation at Tottenham this morning. Sandro, William Gallas, Ledley King and Steven Pienaar are all in the reckoning for Sunday’s home derby against QPR. Harry went on to say:

William trained all week and will train again tomorrow. He hasn’t played a game since last season and we have to see how he is. He could be involved. Ledley’s improving and we’ll wait to see how he is tomorrow. It doesn’t look like he’s far away. Sandro’s had another scan, it looks okay and he feels okay. Steven is on the way back, which is good. He feels a lot better.

Owen Coyle confirmed this morning that on-loan Man City defender Dedryk Boyata will sidelined for around six weeks with ankle ligament damage. Boyata had established himself as the regular right-back for Bolton in recent weeks but his absence should afford Gretar Steinsson another chance.

Alex McLeish has not ruled out extending Barry Bannan’s club suspension beyond this weekend. The young Scot has been banned from participation while the club investigates his arrest amid allegations of drink driving and, as Big Eck explained yesterday:

We are not pre-judging anything. We have to have discipline. We have to have a mutual respect, we’re in the professional world. And there have to be certain ground rules. We will have to wait and see with Barry but he’s not available this weekend.

Thomas Vermaelen will return to Arsenal’s squad tomorrow, though may have to be content with a bench role. Arsene Wenger admitted the Belgian’s fitness is still β€œlittle bit shortβ€œ with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker likely to keep their places at the heart of the Gunners back-four for the trip to Chelsea. Kieran Gibbs is still sidelined with a stomach muscle problem, while Carl Jenkinson has an outside chance of featuring.

Steven Taylor could be available for Newcastle’s trip to Stoke on Monday, despite suffering a broken nose. The centre half picked up the injury in last week’s match with Wigan and has since had an operation to alleviate the problem. He is expected to wear a protective mask for the Britannia clash, while Alan Pardew will make a late decision on the fitness of Cheik Tiote, with the Ivorian suffering a knee problem in the same game.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Oh this is agonising. Hate to be one of these Suarez questioners but, as an owner, if he were definitely injured then I'd do Suarez > Aguero today. With his injury status questionable, I'm more inclined to keep him and hope he plays tomorrow, keep him for Swansea, then get rid!

with gerrard and i think bellamy playing more we'll see easier chances for suarez.he's had so many shots cos he's been creating for himself rather than others setting him up.

a combination of confidence and our record v them should result in goals.cheers...early days yet.

    a) taarabt + suarez for bendtner vdv

It's only a 3 match ban for violent conduct - a red for a professional foul is a 1 match ban, which he served in the Carling Cup.

he's probably good for an assist or two, maybe even the odd goal. Just a darn decent price for a United mid who is most likely to be getting a fairly consistent 90 minutes in the coming weeks IMO.

It was only a 1 match ban and he served it during the week at the Carling Cup game. However he is supposedly not a nailed on starter and with Chelsea's fixtures not being great and them keeping only 1 clean sheet so far this season, it's probably best to get rid and bring in a Stoke defender.

Bit of a quandary as to the balance of my team - forward heavy or not?

    Options are:

    ------------------------

    A)

    3 x 4.0 defenders | Enrique | Kompany

    VDV | Silva | Pilkington | Ramsey | Walters

    Rooney | RVP | Aguero

    B)

    4 x 4.0 defenders | Kompany

    VDV | Silva | Pilkington | Ramsey | Dyer

    Rooney | RVP | Adebayor

    ------------------------

Basically, having Aguero alongside RVP and Rooney will cost me Enrique and Walters (or another 6.0 mid) and make me fill their slots with a budget option.

What do you guys think? Too many eggs in one basket, or point scoring machine?

Hey guys, I think Bosingwa got a red against QPR and so I was wondering why he's not flagged as suspended? It's only been one match, and we all know a red card is a three match ban. Thanks.

Bosingwa & Jonny Evans are NOT banned this GW. They both were red carded for a professional foul which only grants a 1 match ban. It wasn't violent conduct like Drogba who will serve 3 matches.

So to clarify, Bosingwa & Evans are available to play!

FFS, do you lot need a rule book thrown in your face!? It's a one match ban, play him or don't, but he is available. Just more confirmation from press quotes for you to hopefully realise this:

"Chelsea reached the League Cup quarter-finals with victory at Everton, which also allowed Jose Bosingwa and Ashley Cole to serve suspensions.

Didier Drogba, however, is still banned but Fernando Torres has completed his three-match ban after getting sent off in the win over Swansea."

    Need two keepers

I've just changed Given and Vorm to Mignolet and Vorm.

The second two are the better value as Mingolet is 0.5 less then Given and Sunderland have some decent fixutres coming up

How important is the ability to rotate your keepers, i.e. when one is at home the other is away.
