Football managers will tell you – once you’re in the groove and have momentum, the last thing you need is a break. Here on the “Fantasy Flutter”, we’ve been cashing in on Paddy’s prices week in and week out – most recently bagging a tidy sum from Jamie O’Hara’s anytime goal contribution in gameweek 11. With the international break now over, we have to hope that we can rekindle our form and sting our bookmaker friends once more…

Normally at this stage in the Flutter, I begin to dissect play and performance of a few of the Scout picks, suggesting some nice safe odds for our pennies in an attempt to grind some profit out. But pennies only buy pennies, and the taste of victory is never that sweet when the return can’t even buy you a pint. So this week, let’s see if we can make some decent wedge.

We’re looking to turn a £6 stake into a healthy £102 courtesy of Paddy’s Leighton Baines market. Paddy are posting a 16/1 market for Baines to score from a free-kick against Wolves, and we’re going take it with bells on. Baines is a Fantasy favourite after last season’s returns, and although he’s failed to live up to his billing so far this term, he’ll be a key man as Everton look to climb back up the table with a win over Wolves this weekend.

That punt leaves us with just £4 from our tenner stake, and with four markets left to go, it better be a £1 on each.

Up first is another Scout Pick from the Everton ranks, the firecracker that is Royston Drenthe. Eased into the starting lineup by David Moyes, he’s now established on the scene, having made a real impact in recent weeks. We’re backing a few goals in the Goodison encounter, so we’ll go with Drenthe to score and assist at 20/1.

West Brom haven’t had much to cheer about this campaign, having been heavily disrupted by injuries up front. Chris Brunt has had to lead the charge from the middle, and although he’s only netted once, he will be key for the Baggies as they look to climb the table. With Bolton at the Hawthorns this weekend, we’ll back Brunt to score and avoid a booking at 4/1 for our quid.

Nicklas Bendtner might get some rough treatment for his delusions of grandeur, but his performances so far for the Black Cats, have given Fantasy managers room for optimism. He’s cheap, threatens goals and assists, and can even pick up a few bonus points in a Sunderland side bereft of big starts. With two goals during the international break, the Dane should be brimming with confidence when he lines up against Fulham this weekend – the first of several decent fixtures for Steve Bruce’s side. Paddy have Bendtner at 9/2 to score a header, but they’ve gone two points better on him to score two or more goals at 16/1. That’s better odds than the other bookies, and enough to claim a pound of our pot.

And finally… in our “who will score the most goals special”, we’ve included Robin Van Persie, Sergio Aguero and Luis Suarez – all big name strikers who will be heavily backed by Fantasy managers this weekend. With Van Persie and Aguero near even money, and with only a single nugget left, we’ll take 9/2 on Suarez to net against Chelsea as the final punt in this week’s Flutter.

Money Back Specials

No doubt where the big Money Back Special can be found this week – down at Stamford Bridge. With Fernando Torres set to face his former club, Paddy are promising that, if Torres scores a goal at anytime in the match, they will refund all losing 1st/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match.

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly

Only one answer surely? You can gamble but the form book would have to be upset if United go to Swansea and score more than a couple. You can't really say the same for Arsenal at Norwich - should be an open game which will surely see the Gunners get at least a couple of goals.

You'd think so. Valencia is his only real competition, and he had 2 international games as well+a more intense journey.

Having said that, if you need the cash from Nani to Drenthe to fund Rooney, it might not be a bad move. I think Rooney is going to be explosive in a couple of weeks.

I think Nani will start but there's definitely a chance that Ferguson could go with Park and Young, with Valencia also an option. No doubt then, the competition for places on the flank is hotting up and Nani has hardly shown form for United to justify automatic selection of late. Having said that, he got that goal for Portugal and that might just be enough for Ferguson to give him the nod. Enough for me anyway. That doesn't mean he'll return any points for you though - unless Swansea freeze, it's hard to see United cut loose at the Liberty.

'That' goal is what's making me hesitate... that and the fact that I don't know whether Drenthe will start either. If he does though he seems more likely to bring in the points at home to Wolves than Nani away to Swansea. Plus I'm playing Vorm!

I'd double up on Stoke as they are usually very tight at home, I'd probably go for Bendtner but that's a toss up to be honest as they both have the potential to do well

Depends on cash. I'd rather trust the Stoke defence with Shawcross expected back but the Westwood/Brown option is cheaper and certainly not bad over the next four. Ramsey the safe option - a steady points scorer who may only notch every week in three but is well worth having in an Arsenal side firing goals. Bendtner is definitely more risky but I'd find a way to start him today to be honest, particularly if I needed to close a lead.

        Brown, Evans, BAE (Wilko, Figueroa)
        VDV, Silva, Ramsey, Walters, Drenthe
        RVP (C), Aguero (Welbeck)

So long story short...Should i get in Bendy for Welbeck and bench Ramsey or jus let this team be….and I think I am going with 2 Stoke at the back though fulham are shite on thier travels....

    Vorm
    Wilkinson, Richards, Brown
    VDV(VC), Silva, Drenthe, Walters
    RVP(C), Sturridge, Adebayor
    Subs: Given, Sinclair, Enrique, S.Taylor

Correct starting 11 and order of subs?

Also, I am thinking of transferring out Given for Ruddy before the next price change so I will have 3.9M in the bank to help towards getting necessary funds to be able to get in Nani or Rooney if they start scoring big, but this will cause me problems if any players get injured in the Sunday or Monday games (VDV, Ade, Sturridge, Enrique). Should I take the risk?

Can anyone enlighten me as to why Bendtner has so much negativity-what has happened in previous years? Am tempted to bring him in for Suarez, with a view to swapping him out again for Rooney (hoping utd and Rooney's form have improved by then)... But am I right in thinking Bendtner has failed to deliver in fantasy football terms before? Also slightly concerned Suarez has a point to prove and may go wild. Any insight/advice appreciated, thanks!

Basically, his PR statements declaring him one of the biggest talents in the game. He got too big for his pink boots at Arsenal and, when he did get opportunities, he missed chances that really should have been converted by a striker of such "talent".

I've always felt he had the tools to do a job though - he's raw, but effective and, in a side like Sunderland, can become the focal point. His start under Bruce has been encouraging and, with the fixtures he's got, I can see him notching a couple of goals and assists in the next month, which would justify his price tag.

Like you - I just fancy Suarez against Chelsea - big game, big stage and Suarez has done everything but score of late. Unless Ivanovic starts with Terry, I don't see Chelsea handling his movement with Carroll occupying them too. Much depends on whether Dalglish goes for the win though who contains Chelsea and look to break on them.

yes, but apart from the bolton game, united havent been freely scoring away from home this year. 1 goal in every other game, except WBA. I think United will score, but wont run away.

Yeah, I might agree with you if United were flying, but, in attacking terms, they've been pretty miserable of late. We'd need a shift in form for both teams I reckon. Moving Rooney back up front might just be what's needed.

Talking of Paddy Power, odds for Arsenal win at probably too tempting:

    Arsenal Win - 1.72
    Arsenal (-1) Win - 2.70
    Arsenal (-2) Win - 5.00

I've got Jones & Evans don't know how I ended up with both probably listening to certain people on this site.. Should I start them both today??

Long term I really need to get rid of Evans.

Ha, don't try blaming people on the site.
It was your fault for getting Evans in the first place!

I think you start Kompany, jones and evans. The chances are if evans doesn't start he won play at all.

That is my current defensive starting line up... If he doesnt play I will always have Enrique coming off the bench

Evans wont start every game but he has moved up the pecking order and Ferguson has a lot of faith in him (misplaced or not).

It's interesting that Rio was moved onto the left hand side of central defence against Sunderland as opposed to the right hand position which he has occupied since joining United. That is where Evans would play and could mean that is the position that will be rotated.

    Hi Guys,

Have money to get a mid up to 8.9mil. Who should I get? Some names that come to mind:

Arteta, Ramsey, Walcott, Drenthe, Bale, Walters, Sessegnon, etc..

    Ideas?

I have RVP, VDV, Adebayor, Silva, Bentner, Nani.

    Thanks

If your planning to close a lead then Walcott could be a very good buy....

No danger. He's overpriced, injury prone and goes through long periods getting low scores. Any of the other mids mentioned are better picks imo.
