[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

Having savoured the splendours of Spurs’ win over Bolton at first-hand yesterday, the suspension update comes with something of a personal touch this evening.

We’ll start then at my game and with the disciplinary talking point of Saturday’s match ups – Gary Cahill’s red card. The Bolton defender was given his marching orders by referee Stuart Atwell for a foul on Scott Parker after 17 mins that was deemed to be ‘denying a goal-scoring opportunity’. A 1 match ban will result, meaning Bolton will be without both Cahill and last week’s headliner, David Wheater, for the GW15 game hosting Aston Villa.

Most onlookers were in agreement that the decision was extremely harsh (or an ‘absolute disgrace’ as Bolton Chairman Phil Gartside put it), and when viewed in the context of a yellow card for Chelsea’s David Luiz four minutes into the Saturday lunchtime game for a much more clear cut ‘professional foul’, they may have a point.

In the other games, we saw another red card, this time for Swansea’s Joe Allen who picked up a first yellow for throwing the ball away and followed it with a second late on at Ewood park for a push on Junior Hoilett, to earn himself an early bath and a ban for GW15 (FUL).

Joining him as new entries to the ban list are the aforementioned David Luiz – that yellow card his fifth of the season, meaning he will miss next week’s Monday Night Football against the league leaders (mci) – and perennial offender, Lee Cattermole. The Sunderland midfielder also picked up his fifth booking in this afternoon’s live game, with his ban to be served against Blackburn.

As well as the suspensions, there were also a couple of additional inductees to the Suspension Tightrope this week. Arsenal’s Alex Song and Bolton right back Paul Robinson both picked up their fourth yellow cards of the season to join the merry balancing band one yellow card from a ban.

Gameweek 15 Bans

  • Stephen N’Zonzi (Blackburn) – FA Charge (Last of 3 matches)
  • Gary Cahill (Bolton) – 1 Red for a professional foul (1 match)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) – 1 Red for serious foul play (Second of 4 matches)
  • David Luiz (Chelsea) – 5 Yellows (1 match)
  • Lee Cattermole (Sunderland) – 5 Yellows (1 match)
  • Joe Allen (Swansea) – 1 Red for 2 bookings (1 match)

Suspension Tightrope – Four bookings

  • Alex Song (Arsenal)
  • Gabby Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Paul Robinson (Bolton)
  • Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)

I am very annoyed that I was 0.1 off getting Sturridge along with Walters a couple of weeks ago because I waited to be careful of injuries and Walters' price went up. But on the plus side, had I gone for Sturridge I would've sacrified Walters for Drenthe, the other bandwagon of the time xD

    RMT for gw15:

    Vorm
    Enrique Jones Naylor
    Silva Bale VDV Walters
    RVP Sturridge Ade

    (subs: Krul, Baines, Dyer, Simpson)

Is this team good to go? Not withstanding any injuries I was hoping to carry a free in to next week.

From previous page, would love some help:

    Vorm Given
    Kompany Enrique Brown Simpson Wilko
    Silva Bale Walters Brunt Dyer
    RVP Aguero Ade

Want to get Jones in and considering 2 options, both for 4 points:

    1. Wilko/Aguero – Jones/Yak
    2. Kompany/Aguero – Jones/Ba

Both leave me with enough cash to do Walters – Nani. Problem with the Yak is that he’s so cheap that I won’t be able to get Sturridge easily in a few weeks, whereas with Ba it’s easy. But should I really get rid of Kompany?

Adam at 8.8 could be a good punt with their fixtures. Or, if you can go to 8.9 Wallcott is looking good for a consistent 5/6 pt midfielder.

I'd say either find another 1.0 ish and get Mata, or get a 6ish mid and upgrade a defender.

I have been a Sunderland fan since the days of Gary Rowell, Nick Pickering and Stanley Cummins and that thirty years I have had my fair share of absolute heartache, agony, near misses and downright and utter gargage being played................
    ...however.....
having Sunderland players in your dream team just makes things a lot worse........one minute I am watching Sebastion Larsson step up to a penalty, 3 points in the bag, 9 points for my star midfielder and a lovely clean sheet for 'one point Wes'.............
.............the next minute and a half will go down in the long everlasting love affair I have with the Rokerites...........

I'd be surprised though. He already has Downing & Maxi at that position. Too much quality to replace.

I think Jones will be rested for the weekend against Wolves. He will surely play their crucial game in the UCL.

And also, lot of easy fixtures coming in for United. I see a lot of rotation at RB with Rafael looking to get some match fitness under his belt, specially during the festive period. Not the right time to get Jones, imo. (This from a Jones owner)

But the thing is he can play in midfield too. So he will start most of the times and if i get him i would have no problems with 1 odd game where he is rested seeing he is not rested too often this season.

Was always my plan regardless of what has happened with vdv, it's not a knee jerk.. I would have knee jerked him 2 weeks ago.. Planned trf and going to stick with it... I should have planned a little better so as not to take the big hit though

I could have both, but would mean having Yak instead of Ba, which I don't really want to do.

Thing is I'm not sure City defs are that great value apart from Richards, and he will prob be rotated over Christmas anyway.

Not sure about that one, Yak is fine until GW18 but then I'd want to get rid.

Helgi and Morrison both have tricky fixtures for the next 2 after that.

Be funny if Shelvey played tomorrow and scored a hattrick though - that would really piss him off

IM not so sure, I reckon they will be parts of the game they will have a real go. Chelsea even against Newcastle have in my opinion are average at the back.,The can only solve this by getting players in, and offloading a few.
