We were struggling this week. Crippled by a cold that was verging on deadly man-flu, I made a miracle recovery without the aid of placenta treatment to struggle into the studio to infect/accompany Mark on another podcast.

My ailments were not my only curse; only last weekend my extraordinary run of missing out on penalty saves continued when Tim Krul (no pun intended, but I’ll take it), palmed away Lampard’s effort. Inevitably, I’d left the Dutchman on my bench.

Mark refuses to buy the fact I’ve missed out on a penalty save for five years, diverting the discussion towards the mini-league gap, chatter on Van der Vaart and debate over United’s plight at both ends of the field.

The usual smattering of regulars are all present and semi-correct – if you can understand a word I’m saying, you might just enjoy it all.

Have a feeling Mata will have a good game on MNF whereas VDV will flatter to deceive at Stoke.

Worth a 4 pt hit knowing Mata's price will rise this weekend and almost certainly do so a couple of times again before Wigan the following week whilst VDV's will likely fall tonight as people switch to Nani? I'm short of funds (£0.2m in the bank) so can't really afford to lose out on both ends of the deal.

I'm not so sure. I think this will be a cagey affair with the teams playing a little more conservatively-wouldn't surprise me if both would be 'happy' for a draw.

2 weeks ago after looking at the record of all the cheaper strikers, Graham, Ba, Yakubu, etc. I chose Klasnic based on the facts that he seemed nailed on had scored his goals against all types of opposition. With the Yak exploding and Ba continuing to look good Morison 3 in 4 etc Klasnic now looks a poor decision and I am considering a -4 to ship him out.

To be fair he has been playing in a 10 man team in both matches so he will stay for at least one more week.

I shipped him out for a 4 point hit, just got sick of him escpecially with what I thought better options around for that price bracket- Sturridge, Ba even Long.

But if your gut is telling you Klasnic then don't hold back!

    Thinking of going:

Clichy > Jose Enrique: liverpool have great fixtures and good at home. Man City have Chelsea and Arsenal

Santos > Assou-Ekotto: tottenham have really only Chelsea to play in the next 5 weeks or so

Or should I keep clichy and make that change next week so that I don't get a 4pt hit

think you should wait to see how lucas' injury affects defensive returns for liverpool. BAE/walker should be decent replacements for santos, so that transfer looks good.

i'd say keep clichy and do santos>spurs

Shawcross is good for a goal and Stoke defence will be improved on past few weeks. I think they'll close Spurs down pretty well but probably not keep a clean sheet. Kompany rarely scores, Chelsea on the bounce with their CL qualification, Sturridge doing well and Drogba is starting to show some signs of his former self and they have a few more scoring options. The choice is yours!!!

I don't think it's changed since I rated it a few days ago, has it? good team, leave it alone. Not being rude, but stop asking for ratings on it because I don't think it could be bettered without spending points which would negate any benefit. I know from bitter experience that you will get half a dozen opinions, some of which will set you off on a train of thought, you'll end up tinkering and ending up worse off!

I remember 2009/2010 for Ajax he hit the woodwork something like 15 times in the season. He was also a lot more clinical generally for Ajax. I am surprised that his shots per goals ratio has gone up so much.

Maybe the way of defending is different in England or he needs more time to adapt. I don't get it really why this is happening. 15 times woodwork. Oh my oh my, somebody up there is against him, really don't know what to say.

    Enrique Brown Raylor Walker
    VDV Silva Arteta
    RVP Ba Adebayor

Now Vidic is crocked, it's a massive ask from here to try and win this league.
So which United CB to partner Rio? There are no short term measures now for SAF, he's got to start forming a partnership to last the season. My hunch is Smalling.

Szczczczczney is a little dear for a keeper particularly as part of a leaky ARS defence.
Evans - will he get starts?
BAE - not keen on any TOT defender.
Ramsay, for whatever reason, hasn't really delivered the ff pts.
Nice forward line although I'd like to see Adebayor in there.
For 4 cs, Bad K is poor value.

      Rating: 5/10

Silva, Vorm, Naylor would all be worthy additions to your team. Good luck 😉

Just think besides the QPR game Fulham have been poor in attack, especially away, only scoring against Arsenal (own goal) Wigan, and 1 against Newcastle in their 7 away games, mixed with Swansea's brilliant home form.

Fulham have kept clean sheets in three of their last five away matches. On top of this, The Liberty stadium has seen just 10 goals in 7 matches, meaning a 0-0 draw could well be on the cards

Newcastle also look likely to score in this game, with Norwich and Blackburn being the only teams yet to keep a clean sheet.

          Maybe this will help

    My defence:

    Vorm
    Enrique / Simpson / Naylor / Wilko / McAuley

Already used my FT. I know people say never use a 4ph for a defender, but I'm tempted by Wilko > Smalling (can't afford Jones). Obviously would be hoping for a CS to break even.... but it's one for the future as well. Thoughts?

Getting Jones would mean ditching one of VDV / SIlva / Bale / Nani / Ade / RVP, which I don't want to do... it would also be an 8ph. I'm going for Smalling to (hopefully) at least cover cleansheets, and just ride out Jones attacking points with a stronger midfield.

You're not going to let that go are you? 😉

I'll get you on the way back, don't worry.

So, what to do about United? My transfer plan for the past few weeks has been based on getting Nani this week and Baines next, but United are all over the place and Everton are hopeless at the moment.

My league guys are killing me with Jones, yet somehow I find Smalling more appealing, although the Man Utd fans say he has been poor recently.

Pilkman > Nani was the plan but suddenly he's up against a strange looking Newcastle defence and may well be lapping up the cream and the points, whereas Nani may struggle to do nowt for a frazzled United.

Meh. I'll probably do nothing until 8pm tomorrow, then panic and make a complete arse of it again.
