The FA have this evening confirmed Luis Suarez has been found guilty of racial misconduct towards Patrice Evra and have handed the Liverpool forward an eight-match ban and a fine of £40,000, pending appeal.

The Independent Regulatory Commission announced the decision as follows:
1. Mr Suarez used insulting words towards Mr Evra during the match contrary to FA Rule E3(1);
2. the insulting words used by Mr Suarez included a reference to Mr Evra’s colour within the meaning of Rule E3(2);
3. Mr Suarez shall be warned as to his future conduct, be suspended for eight matches covering all first team competitive matches and fined the sum of £40,000;
4. the [penalty] is suspended pending the outcome of any appeal lodged by Mr Suarez against this decision.

The fourth point here is crucial- the Merseyside club have 14 days in which to contest the decision, which means that Suarez is available for selection over the next fortnight. The length of time until appeal takes in four Premier League games- (wig, BLA, NEW, mcy) – and with Kenny Dalglish’s side struggling for goals right now, there’s every chance that, for as long as the club feel he is in the right frame of mind, Suarez will take part in these games.

Liverpool have since released a strongly worded statement this evening and it’s pretty obvious, upon reading, that not only are they firmly behind their player, they will also be appealing this decision. The following excerpt sums up their thoughts:

It seems incredible to us that a player of mixed heritage should be accused and found guilty in the way he has based on the evidence presented. We do not recognise the way in which Luis Suarez has been characterised. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.

With the suspension on hold until after the outcome of any appeal, then, it’s impossible to speculate what games Suarez could potentially miss. Given that the FA have taken two months to reach this decision, it’s fair to say the likely appeal won’t be rapidly resolved.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      I´ll reply again:

      I have exactly that frontline – I´ve had it since GW8.
      Even if all three don´t normally score well the same GW, one or two of them do.

      With a strong defense I can only afford two expensive miss (Silva and Bale ATM), but so far it´s worked out pretty well.

    Vorm
    Naylor, Jones, Enrique, Verm
    Silva, Drenthe, Mata, Nani(vc)
    Ba, RVP(c)

    Subs: Krul, Yak, Eagles, Wilko

    0.5 ITB i could do Yak > Studge if i do Eagles > -4.9 for a 4 point hit,

          To me that attitude is perfectly fine. He's still very committed to his team, taking the car to an away game last season after just recovering from a flu etc, just to help the team out.

          Everyone doesn't have to pretend they have a deep love affair and a life long dream to play for their club, Robbie Keane style.

      Terry should get the same punishment if found guilty. But most likely won't considering how many times this campaign England have fuucked up regarding captaincy, and the FA wouldn't want to weaken your already slim chances of winning the tournament.

        I'm quite sure the Suarez ban will be contested and the ban greatly reduced. If not, the FA are arses (OK, they are arses anyway).

        I don't say this from a Liverpool bias at all, just that they have misinterpreted.

      Wonder if he'll also be retrospectively punished for calling Ledley King a 'lippy black monkey' in that Spurs game a bunch of years ago. Or well, I don't really wonder that but I always wondered at the time why nobody did anything when the video footage even showed the disgust of the black Chelsea players close to JT at the time.

      Yes you're wuming, but from the video it's pretty clear what EBJT said. So after the police investigation, yep he sure should get a long ban. Will he? Hmmm...

    HA HA HA no sure if this has been mentioned or not but has anyone clicked on the Highest Score of 44. The guy has obviously done it so that at the end of today he was top.
    Its ridiculous spendng 52 points to get 44 but fair play the guy got what he wanted, and its awesomely funny i really wanna shake his hand.

      Rodwell or Drenthe for sure and maybe, just maybe Jags.

        Currently have: Bale and Ade
        Almost surely getting VDV.

        Maybe getting Jagielka and Drenthe.
        A bit hesitant to get Everton players. After all, one of their games is away at Spurs (no clean sheet, I guess). Drenthe doesn´t seem like the most consistent player so far.

        I have been so utterly uninspired by everton that at the moment I'm having three Spurs and that is it. Howard would be a good shout if you had DVD and Ade in case Spurs get a pen I suppose but Evertons defense does not promise much, Baines is expensive and Drenthe isn't match fit. Yet.

        Drenthe. I was skeptical about all the buzz but jumped on the bandwagon just to have him injured for weeks on end. Was going to drop but after watching his 20 minute cameo last week its clear that if Everton are going to do anything he'll surely be a part of it
