Steve Morison gets amongst the points yet again for Norwich. Wayne Hennessey’s heroics restrict the Canaries to a couple of goals at Molineux, while Chris Eagles’ Fantasy owners will be getting a little nervous as the winger is benched for the second match in a row:

Steve Morison
Once again, the Welshman produced the goods for his Fantasy owners last night. Morison provided an assist for Simeon Jackson’s goal to put Norwich 2-1 ahead at Molineux and, in terms of value, is the number one outfield player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. Morison’s consistency is so strong he gets an almost-weekly mention in the Scout Notes- last night’s contribution means that, since becoming a permanent fixture in Paul Lambert’s starting XI back in Gameweek 5, he has either scored or assisted in all but three games. In spite of his heroics, Morison remains at 5.0, his original price, though is proving to be one of the most reliable Fantasy acquisitions around.

Andrew Surman
The midfield was a peripheral figure in the Canaries set-up over the first twelve gameweeks, making just three appearances, but now seems to have established himself in Paul Lambert’s first XI. Surman has started every match since gameweek 13, failing to finish only one of those fixtures, and vindicated his manager’s decision by firing home the opener at Wolves last night. At 4.3, he looks decent value and has crept onto the radar, though second-guessing Lambert’s team selection at times can prove a tad too tricky.

Kyle Naughton
The full-back picked up his fifth booking of the season and will serve his one-match suspension in the Canaries next game, at home to Spurs. Initially, there was some confusion over this- given that Tottenham are his parent club, he would have been ineligible to play on the 27th December anyway, but this morning we’ve had it confirmed by the FA that he will be available for selection for the New Year’s Eve fixture at home to Fulham, having served his suspension.

Kevin Doyle
His omission from last night’s Wolves lineup was something of a rarity. Doyle dropped to the bench for the first time this season, with Sylvain Ebanks-Blake fielded alongside Steven Fletcher. Given his replacement found the net, Doyle’s owners may be a little wary going forward now, with his position as an automatic first-choice forward perhaps no longer as assured.

Wayne Hennessey
The Wolves stopper may have shipped a couple of goals but performed heroics between the posts to defy Norwich time and again. Hennessey made 9 saves at Molineux last night and has now recorded 84 saves this season- given that Brad Friedel is second best with 64, the Welshman’s importance to Mick McCarthy’s outfit is obvious. You’d have to go back to gameweek 3 for the last time Hennessey recorded a clean sheet but thanks to his save points, he’s the third-top scoring keeper in FPL so far this term.

Yakubu
The Nigerian’s goal was not enough to save Blackburn from defeat but his Fantasy owners will be smiling after he grabbed his tenth goal of the campaign. Rovers fans may be calling for the head of Steve Kean but they cannot deny his purchase of Yakubu was an inspired decision- his 10 goal haul has come from just eleven starts. With away trips to Liverpool and Man United next, his owners won’t be too optimistic over the festive period.

Chris Eagles
The winger’s place in Bolton’s starting XI had seemingly looked assured over the last few months. Eagles had started every one of the Trotters’ fixtures from gameweek 8-15 but he was afforded a forty-five minute sub appearance last week away to Fulham. Last night saw this situation worsen, much to the chagrin of Eagles’ 10.8% of Fantasy owners- not only was he benched, he failed to make an appearance in what was, arguably, Bolton’s most crucial game of the season. The win at bitter rivals Blackburn lifted Bolton off the bottom of the table and given that Martin Petrov, installed in Eagles’ place on the left wing, grabbed an assist, his owners will be anxiously reviewing the situation over the next couple of gameweeks, particularly with a couple of crucial home games up next.

Kevin Davies
Similar to Eagles, his omission from the Bolton side was significant, though Davies has just 4.1% of owners in comparison. Owen Coyle went with David N’Gog alongside Ivan Klasnic, with the latter seemingly an automatic starter when available this term. With a couple of goals all season, compared to Klasnic’s 7, Davies is clearly not the steady Fantasy force he was in seasons gone by and given that he, too, sat on the bench for the entirety of the derby, his game time looked less assured than ever- Davies has completed just six full appearances this season for the Trotters.

    Gents,

I'm interested to know everyone's strategy with regard to Spurs, Man U and Arsenal players over the upcoming Gameweeks (GW18-GW21). All have very tasty figures (not to mention Spurs' double gameweek) and have players currently in or coming into form.

Personally I'm looking at keeping VDV, Adebayor and RVP for the stretch. In an ideal world I'd love to have Rooney and/or Nani to add to that mix, but it would mean points hits and a significantly stretched budget.

What is everyone's coverage likely to be?

Same issue for me. I've got VDV and Adebayor, and am thinking of sacrificing one of them for the next few weeks to bring in a United player as I have no United attacking coverage. I'm leaning toward VDV as I think he might be rested for one of the matches over the Xmas period.......same goes for Nani though, who would be his likely replacement in my team!

this is my problem also.... i have bale/ade for spurs - vermmy and rvp for arsenal - but only jones for united..... i need an attacking threat from united to cover my arse if they wipe the floor with wigan and blackburn.....

this week i have 2 frees :- Which one is best

1 bale out nani IN. and one more free transfer (mayb sturidge in for ba or evens in for de laet)
2 Ade out rooney in - while also doing surman for dyer to afford roo.
3 or do i pray nani/rooney dont rape, and go for the punt of valencia in for brunt - this way i keep my spurs coverage....

Option 1looks real good with maybe the Sturridge move or the Evans move.

Option 2 is definatly one I've considred. I don't think I'll do it though. Ade has every chance of outscoring Rooney in his fixtures.

Option 3. Regrettably most likely the option I'll be taking - bar the valencia part.

    Dyer Drenthe Silva Nani Walters
    RVP Adebayor Ba

    2.9M in bank. 2FT.

I want another Utd player. Evans or Rooney. If I want Rooney I have to raise 0.1 to swap him for Adebayor (Ade back for DGW). Can do this by one of the following:

    Given—>Sorensen
    Dyer—>Gower
    Brown—>Gabbidon

Or should I keep Ade and get Evans and sort of Dyer/Drenthe (if he doesnt start)? Or is Rooney worth it over Ade for these 2 games?

You didnt hear Utd fans clamberning for Scholes, Neville and Giggs to retire and they are a lot older.

As much as I don't want to deter you from any big hauls he might get, he's said himself that his body won't take two games a week. If Suarez's ban is upheld, expect him to play a full ninety and a substitute cameo.

      Yep.

Unlike some teams, United actually have fairly decent breaks between their festive games, so Rooney should be safe to play in every game.

Nani however will be rested for one of Wigan or Blackburn at home I reckon.

        United game "breaks":

        Fulham - Wigan = 5 days
        Wigan - Blackburn = 5 days
Blackburn to Newcastle = 4 days

Not too bad for the festive period - some of the big teams have it worse, like Chelsea, City and Arsenal.

Besides being the rules, there's two important good things it does:

1: It gives you less profit from player transfers and thus makes it more important to get points instead of accumulate money.
2: It means that if you profit a lot from a player, you will also find it hard to get him back if you sell him so you can't just fool around.

Are you on the board or something? Your answers make total sense!!

            for intrest sake ...

            Player Prices

Player prices change during the season dependent on the popularity of the player in the transfer market. Player prices do not change until the season starts.

The price shown on your transfers page is a player's selling price. This selling price may be less than the player's current purchase price as a sell-on fee of 50% (rounded up to the nearest £0.1m) will be applied on any profits made on that player.

For example, if you buy a player for £8.3m and when you transfer him his price is £9.0m, his selling price will be £8.6m.

is this the biggest dilema EVER?…. i have bale/ade for spurs – vermmy and rvp for arsenal – but only jones for united….. i need an attacking threat from united to cover my arse if they wipe the floor with wigan and blackburn…..

this week i have 2 frees :- Which one is best

1 bale out nani IN. and one more free transfer (mayb sturidge in for ba or evens in for de laet)
2 Ade out rooney in – while also doing surman for dyer to afford roo.
3 or do i pray nani/rooney dont rape, and go for the punt of valencia in for brunt – this way i keep my spurs coverage….

nani will definately be rotated at some point. he will play 2/3 of the match IMO.

i would bring in rooney instead, of course after dgw.
and by the mean time, we can monitor if rooney is playing back at the midfield when pea is back.

Ade out Rooney in. I know people don't want to lose DGW coverage but it's easily possible to bring in 2 Spurs for the DGW if you establish a solid team based around MUN for the next 2 GWs. More to the point, Spurs fixtures are mixed up to the DGW (nor, swa) while United's are pretty awesome.
