[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

And relax. Even before tomorrow night’s top of the bill clash at the Lane, this is no ordinary gameweek. Wednesday’s avalanche of goals and assists left us breathless at times, as United and City ruthlessly exposed opponents who simply looked out of their depth. And yet, as anticipated in yesterday’s preamble, there were cruel barbed surprises packaged amongst the night’s bounty of points.

The goals flowed, with popular Fantasy properties delivering – Nani, Sergio Aguero, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Demba Ba – all players that boast huge ownerships throughout the Fantasy games, came good. Incredibly, the defenders also got in on the act: clean sheets for City, United, Liverpool and even Everton, brought profits at the back, on a night of handsome attacking hauls.

For some however, the clean sheets were soiled. The jaw injury sustained by Phil Jones will have robbed many of rewards from United’s win – a potential absence, with early reports already suggesting six weeks – will perhaps hit harder than the points lost. We await news from tomorrow’s x-rays, keeping the knees from jerking until we have confirmation.

The withdrawal of Micah Richards on 58 minutes was even more sickening. Feeling the effects of Dean Whitehead’s studs down his calf, the raiding right-back was preserved by Roberto Mancini, just two minutes from claiming his Fantasy owners a clean sheet from City’s oh-so comfortable win.

Twenty-four hours ago, we discussed such twists. The injustice will be hard to swallow right now, but those who felt the sting of tonight’s events, can be assured that these won’t be the last curveballs thrown. Off to the Lane.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Funnily enough, last night I was remembering my trip to New York about 8 years ago now and in my head I was walking around Manhattan again.

What's the snow situation in England?

I remember last season quite a number of games was postponed due to heavy snow, around this period.

    Vorm
    Enrique Shawcross, Vermaelen (VC)
    Gower, Nani, Walters, Silva
    RVP (C), Sturridge, Ade

      Good team.

Play Drenthe instead of Gower though.

I'm hoping Swansea are going to get the backlash from a QPR team that know they let their fans down last night and will be determined to make up for the disappointment of the Sunderland defeat.

If you have the funds do it.

Vermaelen will definitely start every game through the busy schedule. Nice fixtures, clean sheets and the odd goal. If any of your midfielders or forwards gets rested and your subs aren't that good at least you know that your defenders can score instead.

For next week Ward+Yakubu> Evans+Sturridge (4 pt hit)
    For gw20(dgw) Mertesacker+Ba> Shotton+Adebayor (no hit)

Team would look like this for dgw:

    Vorm
    Kompany Shotton Evans
    Nani VDV(C) Walters Silva
    RVP Adebayor Sturridge

Thinking of maybe also getting in drenthe for walters for a 4pt hit but might not be worth it

    Hey All,

Would the FT of Jones (once injury confirmed as long-term) to Smalling be the only transfer to consider for this week?
Lack of ManU attacking cover starting to hurt?

    Current Side:

    Krul Vorm
    Enrique Jones Jagielka Evans Simpson
    Silva VDV Bale Drenthe NDyer
    Ba RVP Adebayor

    1.0m in the kitty

    Thoughts/suggestions appreciated

No need to double up on Utd defence as you have Evans already.

I'd suggest that getting Nani in is a much higher priority for you than getting Smalling.

If Bale fit I'd consider VdV to Nani for next GW, otherwise downgrade Jones to someone like Jagielka or BAE and shift Bale out for Nani.

Just my ramblings from overleaf. Any discussion on this?

SAF will *perhaps* play Rooney in midfield as his midfielders are shit or injured. Rooney has already played in midfield on several occasions. I don’t see why you think it’s so unlikely to happen again. 1-0 wins games as well as 6-0. It’s not like Rooney is the only goalscorer at Man Utd. Jones will be out for a few weeks even without a fracture with concussion. It’s basically down to personnel, SAF has lots of fit strikers and not so many fit central midfielders. Either way I’m not playing this Rooney game, he’s really not as essential as the majority preach. Nani and Tony Valencia will suffice for me. Just my musings on the situation!

Although less likely, could Rooney not accumulate goals, assists, bps from midfield?? Worth keeping if in your side currently

All the rest of us trying to figure out a way to have him in the side sooner rather than later!

I'd be more concerned with the likely rotation of defenders/midfielders. Rooney seems the only one nailed on 100%

I disagree. SAF will keep playing Rooney upfront because he's the only bloke around we can count on there. He creates goals and score them. Also, Cleverly is coming back soon - the Blckburn game prob. No need to get him back to midfield unless Carrick sees an injury.

Rooney scored an absolute cracker today from open play.

The opposition is too weak for next couple games so Man U will score more than one. My guess is that Rooney will get at least a couple even if playing midfield. Valencia is an assist machine. Nani is the best cover for Man U right now, could be rested though.

So happy Valencia is playing more often now and with Young out he'll definitely be a starter every game. I want to get him so bad cause he's from Ecuador and would like to be patriotic but it would cost me to make the moves to transfer him in.

Etherington is in form, assists more than scores and costs a little less than Walters. Walters plays out of position as a second striker is on penalties but has not rested yet so you never know if it might happen in the next couple games. Etherington got his rest this game week so he will definitely play the next 3 games. Your choice...

Jones might not play because of injury so have Shawcross as your first or second sub. Tierny as third sub. The rest is perfect. Who are planning on C and VC?

Walters > Sessegnon not a good move. Evans will play now and in the future might be rotated so GW20 is looking too far ahead for that move.

    MCY-STK: Aguero 3, Yaya 2, Nasri 1
    FUL-MANU: Giggs 3, Nani 2, Rooney 1
    WOL-NOR: Surman 3, Milijas 2, SEB 1
BLA-BOL: Reo-Coker 3, Hoilett 2, Yakubu 1 (which seems wrong as BOL won, but that's what the stats say)
    AVL-ARS: RVP 3, Albrighton 2, Arteta 1
    NEW-WBA: Ba 3, Odemwingie 2, Scharner 1
    EVE-SWA: Osman 3, Drenthe 2, 1 who knows
    QPR-SUN: Sess 3, Richardson 2, Helguson 1
    WIG-LIV: Johnson 3, Figueroa 2, Enrique 1

Again, I have no idea what I'm doing, just looking at ICT indices. Hard to figure how clean sheets figure, but I'm guessing that defenders get a boost to the head of the queue when no goals are scored (a la WIG-LIV).

i think al habsi has a maxm chance of getting maxm bps....because when vorm saved a penalty , had 6 saves n was also awarded a yc , he had a ppi score of 19 and in that game the one awarded with 3 bps i.e sinclair had 30 bps only coz he scored .So in the game with no goal, highest ppi score would be around 20 or 22 and alhabsi is likely getting 20 /21 ppi

    Cerny Caulker Moses McAuley

will then get Howard/Friedel in for Cerny next week

I need some Man U coverage for the next two games at least. Should I go with

    1) Aguero -> Rooney

    2) Silva -> Nani

    3) Bale -> Nani funded by Dyer -> Surman (4 pt hit)

I was originally planning 1) but Aguero's two goals last night have made me consider a rethink.

Jones owners what you doing? Thinking of switching to Kompany, can't afford to have 6.8m taking up a bench spot.

I'm doing Jones and Wilkinson to Evans and Shotton and then using the extra money to upgrade frontline.

I am not a Jones owner but if I was i would definatly change him, and if I did not have evans it would be a no brainer. Jones to Evans.

    current team:

    vorm, krul
    jones, enrique, raylor, naylor, simpson
    vdv, silva, ramsey, eagles, gower
    rooney, ade, dzeko
with 2 ft and 0.4m in the bank

worth it to do dzeko --> morison, ade --> sturridge, and eagles --> nani for a 4 point hit?

    any other suggestions?

7.3 to spend on a defender, after doing Ramsey-->Nani and Baine-->???, any recommendations. I'd be really looking to see how is the best value over the next 5GWs, not necessarily how I can fill up the whole 7.3. Team link in username.

Considering Verm, A Cole, BAE, Walker. Any other shouts much appreciated.

Your defense is srong anyway. So i might consider Baines to Caulker and then upgrade Klasnic in a game of two.

Does not seem to be much chat on here about Lindegaard. At 4.5 seems a bargain? Although he does tie up a Man U place in the team. I am thinking of does Ruddy to Lind. I have Super Vorm also. Think it is proably worth the extra .4m?
    Thoughts?

I am under the impression De Gea is only resting. It seems like Sir Alex is keen to do that this time of year with the busy schedule.

I guess as someone has said before there is no harm in putting him in, starting him and if he does not play Vorm plays. For only .4m its probably worth the few extra clean sheets he will get when he plays. Big thing for me it means i cant have evans, nani and rooney as well.......

im in for an extraordinary week:

    silva(wba),VDV(norwich),walters(villa),drenthe(sun'land)

that is, of course, after i do my two transfers for this week

Guys, I have 2 frees this GW and £1m in bank.

If Bale is out today do you think I should do Hennessey to Ruddy in order to fund Bale > VDV for GW18?

Why would you get rid of Bale when he will most likely be fit for next GW.

Seems a bit sideways, as if Bale does not play today he will probably be fit for the weekend. Then you have made two transfer and have pretty much the same team.

Just wondering whether he'd be fit for Norwich if he is only 25% likely to play tonight and is struggling to get fit.

No point having him if he misses 3 games, is there, especially when I have the means to be able to get VdV in without a points hit and a wildcard available in a few weeks time.

If he's out for a few games, then sure. But, if he only is to miss one then I'm keeping. Would consider putting Sinclair out for someone like Etherington - I think he could do well in next few.
