[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

And relax. Even before tomorrow night’s top of the bill clash at the Lane, this is no ordinary gameweek. Wednesday’s avalanche of goals and assists left us breathless at times, as United and City ruthlessly exposed opponents who simply looked out of their depth. And yet, as anticipated in yesterday’s preamble, there were cruel barbed surprises packaged amongst the night’s bounty of points.

The goals flowed, with popular Fantasy properties delivering – Nani, Sergio Aguero, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Demba Ba – all players that boast huge ownerships throughout the Fantasy games, came good. Incredibly, the defenders also got in on the act: clean sheets for City, United, Liverpool and even Everton, brought profits at the back, on a night of handsome attacking hauls.

For some however, the clean sheets were soiled. The jaw injury sustained by Phil Jones will have robbed many of rewards from United’s win – a potential absence, with early reports already suggesting six weeks – will perhaps hit harder than the points lost. We await news from tomorrow’s x-rays, keeping the knees from jerking until we have confirmation.

The withdrawal of Micah Richards on 58 minutes was even more sickening. Feeling the effects of Dean Whitehead’s studs down his calf, the raiding right-back was preserved by Roberto Mancini, just two minutes from claiming his Fantasy owners a clean sheet from City’s oh-so comfortable win.

Twenty-four hours ago, we discussed such twists. The injustice will be hard to swallow right now, but those who felt the sting of tonight’s events, can be assured that these won’t be the last curveballs thrown. Off to the Lane.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

im in a similar position, i want to do Jones & Walters > Caulker & Nani.

Caulker has played full 90 in the last 3, with 2 cleanies, he should start next few i reckon

Not sure I'dbe wanting to lose Walters with STO's next 2 games...any other way you can get Nani in? Perhaps Jones/VDV -> Evans/Nani (will leave you cash for future transfers)?

Almost certainly. He's very highly rated and started the season until he got injured. Once recovered he went straight back in place of Swansea's captain Monk.

Looking at my team and the fixtures on Boxing day etc there could be some massive scores going around.

4 defenders (GK inc) playing Blackburn, Wigan and QPR at home, with all the clean sheets going around I'm sure this will be the week where I don't actually get any!

Well, that was fun, but the Cup match between Ajax and AZ Alkmaar this evening was even more explosive. With Ajax 1-0 up after 37 minutes, an Ajax fan ran onto the pitch and attacked Alkmaar goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado, who responded by kicking him. Referee Bas Nijhuis then sent the goalkeeper off for kicking out at a fan. The furious AZ manager Gertjan Verbeek promptly called his team off the pitch and the match was abandoned. Video here (scroll down the page):

He could have stopped at one kick rather than go in for more.

But he's human and I probaably would have done the same tbh, infact I'd probably have went much further. I don't think red cards should be issued in that situation. They should leave that sort of thing to the relevant authorities to sort out after the game.

In fairness, the keeper was kicking seven shades of it out of the fan though.

Fair play to him too though. You never know if a maniac like that has a knife or anything concealed on him. If you run on the pitch like that you deserve an ass whupping if you ask me (which, I don't believe you did, but you got my opinion for free anyway).

Agree with the manager as well, refs gotta protect the players better than that.

Right, executing the transfers I've planned for three weeks tomorrow unless something massive happens:

    Ade > Rooney
Jones > Shotton (played only at home)

Leaving me with a team of

    Sorensen

Not overly keen on losing Ade so shortly before the double gameweek. It's a delicate decision and might work very well for you. I'd probably look to shift out injured/rotation risky players and wait for Bale news etc before doing it.

annoying having Jones and Richards. Oh well, needed to free up some cash for my Ba > Ade transfer. Will get Evans in for Jones I think.

Feck, looks like Adebayor is gonna drop... Do i do the Rooney switch now? Was he much involved in the attacks or dropping deep?

Those people even entertaining the thought of keeping Ba until he returns from the ACON. Don't. It's such a waste. Hopefully a significant fall in price till he returns, and i'll then buy him back. Looks a steal at that price

      Who's considering that? 😯

I'm thinking about getting rid this week, but may keep him if Jones is out for a little while. Either that or a 4 pointer is on the cards 🙂
