[sbu_large_image] The Knee Jerk

And relax. Even before tomorrow night’s top of the bill clash at the Lane, this is no ordinary gameweek. Wednesday’s avalanche of goals and assists left us breathless at times, as United and City ruthlessly exposed opponents who simply looked out of their depth. And yet, as anticipated in yesterday’s preamble, there were cruel barbed surprises packaged amongst the night’s bounty of points.

The goals flowed, with popular Fantasy properties delivering – Nani, Sergio Aguero, Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Demba Ba – all players that boast huge ownerships throughout the Fantasy games, came good. Incredibly, the defenders also got in on the act: clean sheets for City, United, Liverpool and even Everton, brought profits at the back, on a night of handsome attacking hauls.

For some however, the clean sheets were soiled. The jaw injury sustained by Phil Jones will have robbed many of rewards from United’s win – a potential absence, with early reports already suggesting six weeks – will perhaps hit harder than the points lost. We await news from tomorrow’s x-rays, keeping the knees from jerking until we have confirmation.

The withdrawal of Micah Richards on 58 minutes was even more sickening. Feeling the effects of Dean Whitehead’s studs down his calf, the raiding right-back was preserved by Roberto Mancini, just two minutes from claiming his Fantasy owners a clean sheet from City’s oh-so comfortable win.

Twenty-four hours ago, we discussed such twists. The injustice will be hard to swallow right now, but those who felt the sting of tonight’s events, can be assured that these won’t be the last curveballs thrown. Off to the Lane.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

There's a good chance Jones is fine. It wasn't like he was stretchered off. He kept playing for a few minutes, made a crucial tackle in the box (admittedly after making a mistake), then was substituted.

If he's got concussion, which could very well be the case as he looked dazed, then standard practice is 3 weeks out.

Looking to GW18, what do we think to Jones, Baines & Ba > Evans, Shotton & Rooney? It's basically all centered around being able to afford Rooney. I've 2 free's so would be for a 4 point hit.

    Thoughts?

hmmmm maybe. I am tempted to leave him in simply because i have a mini injury crisis on my hands but i just think Rooney looks so tempting for GW18 & 19. I do have Nani though so it's not essential. Any other suggestions?

Mata is the other one i could get. My midfield is a bit of a state at the moment so that might be the best plan. Perhaps O'Hara, Jones & Baines > Mata, Evans & Arsenal defender?

I think only a mentalist would go against doubling-up on Utd for the next couple of games. I'm a contrary mentalist, so I've gone for the deadly combination of Smalling and Evans. Original? Not much, but those juicy clean sheets are gonna taste like a delicious nipple on a pert breast...Too much, too much. Shoulda stopped when I was ahead...

I had the boy Walker who served me well (and will probably return for the DGW), but...Man Yoo have Wigan and Blackburn at home...AT HOME! Wouldn't be surprised if one of those two little nuggets get their noggins on a corner, either. Gotta be done. If you don't, you're a donut.

You're absolutely correct that no Utd defenders would be folly, but I've already got Evans. I'm still deciding whether I trust a defence sans Vidic AND Jones enough to double up on.

    Best mid for 7.2?

O’Hara needs rid of, Already own Walters.. Thinking Ramsey is the best option for coming games despite his poor returns..

Whoever it is will be replaced by Drenthe in gwk 20..

    Would be part of a 4pt hit.. Jones, O'Hara & Yakubu -> Evans, ??? & Sturridge

I'd probably just get RRD in now, as opposed to waiting till the double GW. None of the other options in that range are tempting, bar Walters - who you have, and Larsson - whose got meh-to-poor fixtures

    Vorm
    P.Jones(Doubt) | Simpson | N.Taylor(Doubt)
    Nani(C) | Silva | Mata | Drenthe
    RVP | Rooney | Morison

Subs: Ruddy | Walker | Gomez | Wilkinson

    repost

ok this may seem crazy but here is my plan

    Siva – a 4.5 or less mid
    Yak – Rooney

If Jones is injured I will swap for Evans and get a more expensive mid for a 4 point hit.

May seem crazy, but Silva, although consistent is unlikely to bring in big hauls whereas Nani, Bale and VdV, who I have are, along with Rooney and RvP. Wasn’t planning the 4 pointer but Jones’ injury has thrown a few things up in the air.

Just did a knee jerk 12 point hit because of price rises...sticking with this team now barring any injuries for a very long time......not bothered with the DGW gonna be off snowboarding in Switzerland anyways.....chasing snow bunnies....

    Enrique, Evans, Vermaelen (BAE, Caulker)
    Walters, Larsson, Nani, Silva, (Surman)
    Rooney, Sturridge, RVP

    End of year points predictions?
