Alex McLeish is given a welcome fitness boost ahead of Villa’s trip to Stoke. Sir Alex Ferguson admits he will continue to rotate David De Gea, while Seamus Coleman is ruled out of Everton’s game at Sunderland:

Sir Alex Ferguson looks like he will continue to frustrate owners of David De Gea after once again resting him in favor of Anders Lindegaard last night. The United boss admitted he will use Lindegaard as the season goes on to give De Gea a rest whenever he deems necessary:

It’s not a problem because I think Anders has that little bit more experience. I felt his was the right time to change and we’re going to do that with David. He’s only 20 years of age and is going to be a fantastic goalkeeper, there’s absolutely no doubt about that. Having Anders as a back-up in terms of giving the lad a break at the right time, is proving its worth. Anders is an outstanding goalkeeper and has a little bit more experience.

Scans have revealed that Bolton defender Marcos Alonso has not broken his foot as first feared. After the game at Ewood Park, manager Owen Coyle was worried that Alonso was facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but the injury is said to be superficial, with the left-back due to see a specialist to determine the extent of the problem.

Peter Crouch, who missed last night’s game at Manchester City, could be back to face former club Aston Villa on Boxing Day. Crouch spent some time in hospital yesterday after complaining of headaches, but Tony Pulis has allayed fears that the problem is too serious. The Stoke boss also confirmed that Matthew Etherington was rested against City to ensure that he was fit to face Villa on Boxing Day.

Alex McLeish had plenty of positive injury news to report today. The Villa boss expects Darren Bent, James Collins, Emile Heskey and Stephen Ireland to all be available for the trip to Stoke. Ireland lasted just 44 minutes against Arsenal last night but Big Eck revealed fatigue was the problem, with the midfielder having suffered from illness all week. Chris Herd is expected to be out for a further two weeks with an ankle problem.

Arsenal have moved their home game with Wolves, initially scheduled for Boxing Day, back a day to the 27th as a result of the proposed industrial action on the London Underground. This scuppers any chance of a potential double gameweek, with the fixture still falling under gameweek 18. Chelsea’s game with Fulham will go ahead at 1pm, as scheduled.

Angel Rangel returned from injury for Swansea last night, coming on for the injured Neil Taylor at Everton. Taylor is due to have a scan on a knee problem sustained in the 1-0 Goodison loss, with the extent as of yet unknown. Swans boss Brendan Rodgers said:

We’ll have a wee look in the morning. I’m not sure what he has done. I haven’t spoke to the medics yet but it was obviously too sore to continue.

Seamus Coleman has been ruled out of Everton’s Boxing Day trip to Sunderland after aggravating a thigh problem in last night’s game against Swansea. David Moyes admitted the Toffees have one or two knocks but was typically evasive on the matter.

language barrier fella! oooo fella? whats that, sexism? 3 game ban?

hansen got in trouble for talking about it last night on match of the day because he said coloured. its getting more and more ridiculous.

            Move on for god's sake...

coloured is not PC though! and too right when i watched MOTD i cringed for hansen
If hes going to be discussing a sensitive topic surely the director of the BBC gives him a list of words to use - I blame BBC rather than hansen

Also its not the language barrier, if he wants to come to this country and play football he cant be offensive to other players number 1, and number 2 not make reference to the colour of their skin in a degoratory way

8 matches may be excessive, but if thats the cost of some discipline in football then so be it

I think its good he's being punished because he's obviously wrong for doing what he did. (before you think I'm racist)

How many people/footballers are PC, thats the problem. no-one hounded evra like people did when they called jason lee pineapple head - if anything thats worse.

The Hansen thing is a good contrast to Suarez though.

While the term "coloured" isn't PC, and I wouldn't use it, he very clearly didn't use it in a derogatory manner.

Suarez on the other hand, regardless of whether the term negrito is considered racist or not in Uruguay, was trying to piss off Evra, and made a reference to his skin colour in order to do that.

yeah, but is he being wrongly accused of racism?

I don't think he or the club, have actually denied what he said to Evra.

His defence so far consists of:

          - calling someone a negro is not considered offensive in his country (somewhere he hasn't lived for nearly 6 years).

          - his granddad is black

          - Evra is a c*nt

If my hypothetically accused mate's defence was that, I'd suspect he might have been racist.

"But Evra never cited racism in the Chelsea case, contrary to what you may have read elsewhere. Liverpool's extraordinary statement referred to Evra having no credibility and used as an example his "prior unfounded accusations". Except it was Mike Phelan, United's assistant manager, and Richard Hartis, the goalkeeping coach, who purported to hear the word "immigrant" used at Stamford Bridge."

Along with King too. Big news for Spurs.

Looking forward to Bale vs Bosingwa, but the Lennon replacement might be key to this game:

        - Sandro (and have VDV, Modric and Bale floating behind Adebayor)
        - Pienaar (direct swap, possibly with Bale to the right)
        - Pavlyuchenko (442 - VDV out right)

I think Sandro is most likely and the team will be much more solid and offer a platform for the front 4 to dazzle.

True - played CM in the Euro game, but while looking classy, I don't think he's got the legs for a wide role anymore and that would mean VDV playing there.

We're not as fluid with VDV out right unless we're on top (and he can drift).

Yes, I got him in last week before I knew he was injured. I thought he might get a cheeky goal against Wigan. That did not work out well.

Still, I think he always plays when fit and gets a forward quite a lot. Almost a good a Lampard, but not quite.

Nope. Having watched a few Arsenal games, he's turned into a good player, but he never shoots. May get a few assists, but very unlikely to get big returns because of this.

That's my perception of him anyway, be interesting if there were any stats on him.
