Driving home for Christmas, we present you with the festive ScoutCast. Obviously only for those without passengers – we wouldn’t want to inflict this on unsuspecting souls.

A stocking brimming with the usual merriment, the episode comes with the annual added bonus of hearing myself and Mark exchanging “ironic” gifts as an act of “goodwill” one more.

Along the way we deliberate the Robin Van Persie helpline, the revolving doors being worked by Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart and the perils of double gameweek investment.

Merry Christmas from the ScoutCast!

Come pull your Christmas cracker here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I jumped the gun and did my two free transfers before finding out Jones is okay.

Question is - do I take a 4pt hit DVD -> Bale, or wait? (I don't have Adebayor so no Spurs coverage for trip to Norwich)

        Sorensen
        Evans, Brown, Wilkinson (BAE, Simpson)
Silva, Nani (c), Sessegnon, DVD, (Drenthe)
        Ba, RVP, Sturridge

Got enough money to swap Ba for Adebayor for the DGW, just need to decide whether to take a hit on DVD

    Best combo

    a) Rooney + Drenthe
    b) Bale + Ba - save a trade
    c) Bale + Sturridge
    d) Ba + Walters - save a trade
    e) Ba + Mata

    Already have Nani & Adebayor.

    Any other combos?

Tough call. I would probably use both this week as next week is an easier time to save one. I'm gonna say a) purely cause Rooney has the potential to outscore all the others over the next 4 weeks. Also, Drenthe in now means one less transfer you have to do for the DGW. To be fair though, they are all good moves.

Well it's A or C, as Ba can be ruled out with ACON coming up.

C for me based on fixtures and form. If Rooney delivers v WIG, then Plan A might be the option.

    team for this week:

    vorm
    evans, raylor, enrique
    silva, nani, ramsey, vdv
    rooney, ade, morison

    bench: krul, gower, naylor, simpson

already taken a 4 pt hit to bring in nani, evans, morison for eagles, jones, dzeko.

    options:

    A) vdv --> bale for 8 total this week and figure out what to do with ramsey or raylor next week

    B) wait till next week and do vdv --> bale and raylor --> kompany for 4 pt hit
    OR
    C) wait till next week and do vdv --> bale for no hit and leave raylor on the team

      Woah...too many hits going on.

VDV for Bale was a given so now you've made things harder with an expensive non-player on your hands when you need a full 15 out.

Option C for me. You can get by with what you've got. Good luck!

I want to do Ba > Sturridge now to beat the price rise, but many comment about keeping Ba for another Gwk. So, info gathered..

1: Form : Chelsea scored 16 goals in the last 6 home games, 2nd most in the league. Newcastle scored 10 from their last 6 away games, 5th most in the league. >> Go CFC.

2: Concede : Bolton conceded 13 goals and had 1 cleansheet in their last 6 home games, most in the league. Fulham conceded 5 goals and had 3 cleansheet in their last 6 away, just only United, Liverpool, and Chelsea did better than them. >> Go NUFC.

3: Sturridge scored a total of 9 goals. 3 at home and 6 away. He had record of 2.6 shots per game and 1 key pass at home. Ba scored 13 goals. 6 at home and 7 away. He had 3.4 shots per game and 0.3 key pass on away game. >> Go BA.

4: Ba contributed 59% of NUFC goals, while Sturridge contributed 26% for CFC. >> Go BA.

6: Ba had average 7.3 FPL point away, while Sturridge had average 6.0 FPL point at home. >> Go BA.

7: Ba price is probably rise 0.1 more.. Sturridge will rise tonight and probably another rise in Sunday night. >> Go STURRIDGE.

Umm.. If point over price, it seems wise to keep Ba. What do you think?

Hi guys! Need help for improving my team please 🙁

    Krul - Ruddy
    Baines - Vermaelen - Jones - BAE - Naylor
    Mata - Nani - Bale - Surman - Allen
    Ba - Sturridge - RVP

I have 0.4 in the bank and 2 FTs, thinking of using 1 of them and maybe saving the other for next week. I'm trying to upgrade Surman/Allen and also trying to start getting in Everton / Tottenham players, or maybe just doing a boring Naylor -> Caulker or Jones -> Evans, need your thoughts on this please! RVP.

Wolves have conceded 2 more. In Wigan's last 2 games they have given up 1 goal to Chelsea and Liverpool. He gets involved in more goals than Rooney, in 5 goals against Fulham he only scored one whilst RVP in 2 goals against Villa scored one and assisted one.

    Vorm Ruddy
    Jones Simpson Shawx Naylor ______
    Silva Walters Ramsey Dyer _______
    RVP Ade Ba

I've got 2FT and injuries in the blanks, so which is better for defence:
    A) Evans
    B) Hibbert (I think I know the answer, but y'know, DGW and all that)

    and for midfield?
    A) Nani
    B) Mata
    C) Bale (again, DGW soon)

Could do Ba to Sturridge next week for Chelsea cover instead of Mata, which seems to be the move of choice for many here. Could also potentially do Ba to Morison and then Ramsey to Bale for double gameweek if funds allow. Morison is pretty consistent and Norwich fixtures are reasonable after this week until whenever you wildcard.

lol the point hit kinda sucked, but I'm fine with it.

Rooney has scored, but not enough to disappoint me. Evans has been epic and Adebayor has at least stayed around Rooney's level, justifying it when you consider the money I got from Rooney. Mata........well Mata has sucked.

But the whole thing allowed me to play in nani properly this week, which helped it pay off. So i guess technically yes, I'm happy with it.

It helps that I truly believe having nani means I don't need Rooney, and that I now have a super-D-duper midfield.

You were one of the few who supported that move, right?

Also.....you are saying hold onto Mata and Ba this week and replace Dyer, right? And then Ba>Studge the week after?

yes I was. With the fixtures Chelsea have I think Mata will get you some points. Replacing Dyer is just prudent I think but that too could depend on the strength of your defensive subs.

strength of defensive subs is pretty bad, but I don't really care, if I'm honest.

Evans, Enrique, Brown, Simpson, Naylor (probably injured)

So...bad. But its not like it really bothers me. There just aren't many points in defense this year. Kompany is the only one I consistently regret having, but even then, he had zero goals and like one assist last year....hard to regret that considering City's defense isn't too good.

no, I guess Dyer >Gower it is then. Moses, maybe, but probably Gower.

Yeah, its nice to actually see your team linked, now!

So we'll both do the hohum transfer for Gower. hooray!

Good score this week. I still think Verm is overpriced, and games like last weekend are the exact reason why, but I really liked your team. Ade is going to be must have here in a couple weeks, if he isn't already, but I understand why you want to hold on for Ba's last good fixture.

Verm is overpriced now but he was a good prospect before injuries hit that back four. He can still do damage over Arsenal's next few games. Pilkington to Gower or Surnam(?) this week and Shawcross to a cheapie next week will fund Ba to Ade next week also

Defence B. Evans should already be in your team with Jones booted. He's had his one goal for the season.

Midpark: Jeez these should already be in your team! Nani first but Bale will be needed el promto. Keep an eye on Mata too.

Nani and Bale have been in my team at various points (before they hit form, naturally), but sorry to say that its never been a £110m team so I can't afford to fit them all in. I have definite long term injuries in Turner and VdV, so can't really ship out Jones at the stage, even if I wanted to. Cheers though!

Two years ago, the poll was remarkably productive. Last year was a nose dive as a succession of captaincy fails occurred.
This year, thanks largely to RVP, it has been relatively consistent about 50% of the time.

I tend to go with my own gut instinct though. This week for instancing, I'll be cap't'n'n'g Rooney with the masses on RVP. Not sure how else I'm going to make up the lost ground tbh.

This week is a pivotal one for the RVP/Rooney combo owners: if Rooney delivers, there will be mass restructuring of teams going on on here and it will be fascinating to see how ppl accommodate Rooney.

Can we get some thoughts on the striker options?

Ba - target man for Newcastle, great form
Ade - target man for Spurs , good form
RVP - target man for Arsenal, great form
Sturridge - target man for Chelsea, great form

Rooney - in the hole for United, great form, behind Chico if he plays and competing with Nani, Valencia and Welbeck for goals

When I saw united fixtures I thought Rooney was a must, but given there are so many sources of goals at United (was it 5 different scorers v Fulham? ) he really isn't is he? Chico is iffy for the same reason and is not even totally nailed on.

There is one way to get out of the goalscoring worries - get both United nailed on wingers - Nani and Valencia. So much of their attack goes through flanks that you're nailed on assists no matter the scorer, and both can score by cutting in as they often do.

    Thoughts?

Here's the last 4 gameweek shooting data:

Aguero 19 attempts; 11 on target.
      Ba 17/8
      Studge 16/8
      Ade 16/10
      Rooney 15/11
      Suarez 14/6
      RVP 12/6

Aguero, Ade and Rooney hitting the target 60-75% of the time. Everyone else, less than 50%.

    de Gea (Vorm)
Simpson - Raylor - Kompany (Naylor, Barnett)
    Nani(c) - Valencia - Mata - Bale (Gomez)
    Ade - Demba - RVP

    no money, 1FT

Good advice. I think the problem is whether to persist with Nani and take a hit replacing Dyer with someone (Tiote, Gower and Reo-Coker seem the best that I can afford, which is hardly inspiring) or change tact completely. Sleep it is though.

Funny story, mind, a few weeks back I considered swapping Nani for on form VdV, but again I delayed. Decided that I'd wait for team news on United's early kick off - if Nani was benched, I'd make the swap. He was benched, but I woke up 10 minutes too late to make the change. Needless to say, Nani scored 1 to VdV's 10. Think I'm cursed when it comes to those two...

Sleep and FPL just don't go well together! Just stick with Nani - he's in the form of his life, don't drop a player doing well. If it makes you feel better I once left a WC late and got S Petrov instead of M Petrov.

Morning lads!! Chrissy is almost here and here's my plan looking ahead to the DGW:

    Which option would you recommend?

    Vorm
    Enrique Evans Brown
    Nani Silva Bale Mata
    RVP Studge Ba
Subs – Given Moses Simpson Wilko
2 FT 0.4 Bank WC available

    A) GW18: Given > Lindegaard or Wilko > Shotton/Olsson
    GW19: Silva > Drenthe/Osman; Ba > Ade
    GW20: Wilko/Shotton/Olsson > Walker

    B) GW18: Silva > Drenthe; Ba > The Pig
GW19: Save (Banking on Wilko playing against Wigan)
GW20: The Pig > Ade; Wilko > Walker

    C) GW18: Silva > Valencia; Wilko > Shotton/Olsson
    GW19: Ba > Ade
    GW20: Shotton/Olsson > Walker

Thoughts? Any transfer suggestions much appreciated.

        Much less likely, actually.
I'll be getting Walker for the double, as price isn't really an issue because he won't be there for long, and he has more attacking threat.

      Hi Elninio!

Not liking the removal of Silvastreak idea 🙁

You are not going to like this but 4 Megabar mids is restricting your team. I'd gamble and take out Mata so that you can accommodate Adebayor.

      So Mata->Drenthe this week.
      Ba->Ade next week.
VDV, if still upright, in week 20. Best of luck 😉

Hey Jafa! Merry Christmas in advance...

So it boils down to Mata vs Silva for the next 4-5 weeks.

Mata: Best next 5 fixtures ever. 2 home games cmn up. Homeboy is Mata. Away games: Wol & Nor. Should be on penos from GW20 with the exodus of Drog. Taking all set-pieces & looks like assisting twice or thrice every game.

Silva: Next 5 includes LIV & TOT (even though he's fixture proof). Will defo be rested atleast one game due to FA & CC Cups. Got him at 10.1, so don't mind losing 0.2. Will be getting him back in the Jan WC surely.

        Thoughts?

I hate getting in Lindegaard. Just doesn't feel right. I like the idea of getting Valencia in this week. I DO NOT like getting in Shotton/Olsson in just to get rid of Walker. If that's the plan, but get Walker now.

He'd risen 0.3 for me so didn't alter my selling price luckily enough. Quite like having him although maybe tempted to sell to finance Rooney

Need a little advice gang....I have 2 free transfers and I can't seem to decide to stick or twist....I don't wanna lose one by not making a change, but if I did a transfer what areas are of concern?

    Vorm (Krul)
    Jones Kompany Enrique (Simpson) (Brown)
    Bale Walters Nani Silva (Dyer)

    Sturridge RVP Adebayor

Maybe downgrade Brown and leave you the cash and 2FT next week to easily get Drenthe in for Dyer?

Id say stick. If you are looking to transfer, "perhaps" simpson to Evans for a more reliable 1st bencher.

Drenthe 5.9 for the double game week coming up? Sounds alright to me. And you can afford both.

Well if you don't have any transfers to make, sell Dyer, surely?

No....No......Nooooo......surly not Moses?!?!?!?!? 1 goal in 50 shots is a hard stat to ignore. Totally agree that Dyer needs to be shifted! 😉

I know the stats, but I watched him the last 2 weeks - you won't find better for 5.5 or less.
Also, it's no coincidence he got his points once Wigan changed to 3-5-2 (with Moses up front) and almost grabbed some points vs Chelsea and Liverpool.

    How about this move:
baines > caulker (is he nailed on?)
ohara>bale (for the sake of DGW)

So i can lineup this team
    vorm
    enrique caulker evans
    bale silva mata nani
    ba rvp adebayor

    sub: given gabbidon dyer simpson

nxt week will do given>howard and ba>sturridge

Anyone thinking of doubling up on Spurs defenders for DGW? I cant find a way to get bale into my team and have Ade. Already have BAE and might get Gallas in and bench him until the DGW. Hmmmm

Bale, Adebayor, Drenthe/Osman and Walker for me, I think.

Jones owner, will you keep him?
I have an idea: change Jones --> Smalling to get 2 CS of ManU vs Wigan
then using cash to Simpson --> BAE for DGW.

lose 0,2M in Jones (bought him at 6.3M)
