Driving home for Christmas, we present you with the festive ScoutCast. Obviously only for those without passengers – we wouldn’t want to inflict this on unsuspecting souls.

A stocking brimming with the usual merriment, the episode comes with the annual added bonus of hearing myself and Mark exchanging “ironic” gifts as an act of “goodwill” one more.

Along the way we deliberate the Robin Van Persie helpline, the revolving doors being worked by Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart and the perils of double gameweek investment.

    Where does shotton play for Stoke?

    With ShawX coming back, will his position be in threat with Huth coming to RB?

      I think he will play. Seems to be ahead of Pennant for the right Mid slot if he doesn't play at right back. I think Woodgate might play in the middle with ShawX so Huth at right back and Shotton right mid.

    Any reason why Vermaelen is not being talked about that much. In past seasons he has been heavily picked and since returning from injury he has scored 3, assisted 1 and got 3 clean sheets from 7 games. Add to that 2 good home games then away to Fulham.

    I know he is playing at left back in some matches but it doesn't seem to prevent him getting forward and his left foot is only second to RVP.

    Thoughts?

      Of all the defenders to have in now, he and Phil Jones are the best imo, closely followed by Enrique, and Richards. Best budget option is JEvans by some distance.

    I need some sensible advice please guys I'm thinking of having Bale, Ade, BAE/Walker and Drenthe for the double gameweek also need to swap Ba for Sturridge, I have 0 in the bank I already own Bale and Ade so to get Sturridge, BAE/WALKER and Drenthe I'm going have to take a hit at sometime in the next 3 games trouble is I feel that my squad is really strong and after the double gameweek I will struggle to get whoever I take out back without weakening my team as everyone has gone up in value so much since I brought them in Who do I take out it's driving me mad.

    I know hits for defenders are normally a big no-no, but is Brown -> JEvans worth it given

    a) I already have Westwood and will be doubling on SUN defence if not, and
    b) I have 0.0m in the bank so can't afford it next week when JEvans rises tonight.

      It's a no-no because 1 goal and the hit is pretty much never worth it. But if it's a money issue then go for it, United have good fixtures

      I've just put in Vermaelen & Evans for an 8 point hit !!

      Hate going into a GW with a team I'm unhappy with.

      Don't think getting rid of a Sunderland defender is worth it though ? Everton at home got to be a good chance of a cleanie ??

      I'm swaying towards it as JEvans has looked a real goal threat also in recent weeks. You just know I'll take the hit, JEvans will get rested and Brown will score again....

    Ba -> Sturridge (I think they will score simliar this gameweek, but i am doing it now to gain on Sturridge's price rise and i will be able to do my transfer plan if i do it now, but if i don't i don't have enough money.)
