Driving home for Christmas, we present you with the festive ScoutCast. Obviously only for those without passengers – we wouldn’t want to inflict this on unsuspecting souls.

A stocking brimming with the usual merriment, the episode comes with the annual added bonus of hearing myself and Mark exchanging “ironic” gifts as an act of “goodwill” one more.

Along the way we deliberate the Robin Van Persie helpline, the revolving doors being worked by Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart and the perils of double gameweek investment.

Merry Christmas from the ScoutCast!

Come pull your Christmas cracker here.

Alternatively, stream away on the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Fine team. I have Evans Kompany Simpson & Ramsey instead of Brown Hibbert Jagielka & Drenthe. Will probably be doing Drenthe in for Ramsey next week and maybe Jagielka or BAE for Simpson or NTaylor.

    Team for GW18:

    Vorm
    Richards, Enrique, Vermaelen
    Nani (vc), Silva, Bale, Drenthe
    RVP (c), Adebayor, Ba

    Bench: Gower, BAE, NTaylor

Not sure about Drenthe away to Sunderland... any arguments for playing any of the bench guys over him?

oops reposting the repost from last page. team for GW 18:

    vorm (krul)
    enrique, evans, raylor, (naylor, simpson)
    nani, silva, ramsey, vdv (gower)
    rooney, ade, morison

took a 4 point hit to bring in nani, morison, evans for eagles, dzeko, jones.

obviously, i’m hamstrung with vdv 😉 so which is a better option?

    A) VDV –> bale now for total 8 point hit; then next week do something with ramsey or raylor
    B) VDV –> bale next week and do something with ramsey or raylor for 4 pt hit

    Have 2FT. 0 in bank.

This week, Pilkington to Surman(I know there is rotation risk there) freeing up 0.9 cash.

Next week, Shawcross to McCauley/Shotton/Caulker which give me enough to do Ba to Ade.

Sound plan or do I have better options?

    Morning / Afternoon all 🙂

    Opinions needed - please!

I'm playing Ba and Vermaelen this week, but then contemplating a 4 point hit next week for:

    Vermaelen -> 4.0 defender (Shotton?)
    Ba -> Rooney

Worth it? Obviously Rooney needs to score one more goal at home to Blackburn than what Ba can score away to Liverpool to break even. And would be hoping that Stoke keep a CS against Wigan and that Vermaelen gets no attacking stats against QPR...

    Jafa you around buddy?

    You don't think I should do Ba > Pig ; Silva > Drenthe for 2 FTs? :O

Really really scared. Could also do Silva > Valencia this GW & Ba > Ade next. Would give me Nani & Valencia.

For what little it is worth, my opinion is that having Nani means you don't need rooney, and also that getting rid of Silva is nuts. Of the two choices, I like the one that gets you Ade a little more.

Cheers Newman! That's the most sensible option (Ade next GW) & I needed you to tell me that not doing something crazy 😉 Just tempted by Utd's next 2 fixtures way too much.

Also, regarding the Mata vs Silva, it's just a risk I'm willing to take. Call it a differential of sorts but the truth is I'm trying to take advantage of the fact that I bought Silva for 10.1 and not 9.5ish like the rest of the crowd.

How're you doing Newman? Ohio treating you well? 🙂

I really don't know what I'm saving it for. 😕

But I'm happy I'm faring decent so far. It's come at a cost though, ie my team value. I can afford only 4 big mids + RVP-ba-studge + cheap def. Others who've WCed early have been able to fit in 1-2 exp defs + ade along with 4 big mids/RVP.

so last night I transferred out silva to nani. I did it without asking for opinions as I knew I would be persuaded out of it... I was more scared of not having Nani than Silva over the next 3 GW's and have been slipping back the past few weeks
