Boxing Day. Unfortunately for these pages, a day named for boxes rather than on-field pugilists, but despite that fact we still have some disciplinary matters to round up…

First on the FA’s morning docket will be Wigan striker (and headline writer’s dream) Conor Sammon, after his red in the 5-0 drubbing from a United side with some notable absentees. His 39th minute clash with Michael Carrick – while the game was still 1-0 – resulted in a straight red and an immediate three-match ban for the Irishman (sto, SUN) followed by the FA Cup trip to Swindon. However, with reports surfacing of agreement between Martínez and Ferguson that the card was harsh and some suggestions that the Wigan manager has already stated his intention to appeal, this may not be the last we hear on this matter.

The other points of note from the games today were fourth yellow cards of the season for Newcastle’s Ivorian enforcer Cheick Tioté and recent Watchlist focus Robert Huth of Stoke. If either is now booked in their final games of the year – the Friday night clash at Liverpool for Tiote and the hosting of Wigan the following day for Huth – then they will incur the customary one-match ban. Avoid caution in that game and they will pass the 1st January deadline unpunished, after which the bar will be raised to 10 yellows before any censure.

GAMEWEEK 19 BANS

  • Conor Sammon (Wigan) – 1 Red for serious foul play (First of 3 matches)

    Before you sell Ba, look what you paid for him. He is going to rise tonight and could earn you a valuable .1m to spend in the WC.

    In Fifa 12, I am unable to put a low/ground cross. Tapping X 2/3 times rapidly on the controller just does not work. It is as if it does not get registered by the laptop. All the other moves work fine. It happened on street fighter too when i had to tap the same button fast. Does this happen to anyone else, or is it just my cursed hp laptop?

        Noooooo...get rid now. You only have to look at the shooting stats to see the difference. Ade has had something like 25 shots with 21 on target in the last 6 weeks. Suarez is the polar opposite.

      Baines has more points potential but I'd go Osman. He fits into most teams nicely as the 3rd or 4th midfielder. You have to restructure your team to fit Baines in. Even then, there will be too many games where you want to bench him.

        Personally, I wouldn't touch Baines with a ten foot pole. He's not worth the money, particularly given that defenders lose a point for every 2 goals conceded.

            He only scores his points from penalties.

            So what if he plays OOP as a midfielder. Being classed as a defender isn't necessarily a good thing, cos defenders can go into minus points. Midfielders and forwards (unless the pick up cards, OGs or miss penalties) do not get punished for conceding shitloads of goals.

      Bad K->BAE

      ...are both options worth considering right now. I think three TOT for the dgw is suffice. No need to bother with EVE.

    2) VDV or BAE for the DGW
