Boxing Day. Unfortunately for these pages, a day named for boxes rather than on-field pugilists, but despite that fact we still have some disciplinary matters to round up…

First on the FA’s morning docket will be Wigan striker (and headline writer’s dream) Conor Sammon, after his red in the 5-0 drubbing from a United side with some notable absentees. His 39th minute clash with Michael Carrick – while the game was still 1-0 – resulted in a straight red and an immediate three-match ban for the Irishman (sto, SUN) followed by the FA Cup trip to Swindon. However, with reports surfacing of agreement between Martínez and Ferguson that the card was harsh and some suggestions that the Wigan manager has already stated his intention to appeal, this may not be the last we hear on this matter.

The other points of note from the games today were fourth yellow cards of the season for Newcastle’s Ivorian enforcer Cheick Tioté and recent Watchlist focus Robert Huth of Stoke. If either is now booked in their final games of the year – the Friday night clash at Liverpool for Tiote and the hosting of Wigan the following day for Huth – then they will incur the customary one-match ban. Avoid caution in that game and they will pass the 1st January deadline unpunished, after which the bar will be raised to 10 yellows before any censure.

GAMEWEEK 19 BANS

  • Conor Sammon (Wigan) – 1 Red for serious foul play (First of 3 matches)

SUSPENSION TIGHTROPE – FOUR BOOKINGS

  • Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)

  • Raul Meireles (Chelsea)
  • Ramires (Chelsea)
  • Moussa Dembélé (Fulham)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Danny Murphy (Fulham)

blimey my ML is tight I have re-taken the lead but only by 6 points, we both have Vorm and Bale, he has captained RvP, I haven't, then it's his Ade vs my BAE, could be close. (Though I have Raylor to come of my bench yet, and more players likely to get baps.)

What are you talking about? 2nd highest scoring midfielder in the game. Yes, expensive, but not if you bought him early and have held on... Agree if you bought him recently he might be expendable, but not if you've had since the first few GWs.

Not necessarily. What if the player you sold, say Theo Walcott, then scores 26 points the next week while your new Spud Gareth Bale is in your starting XI that week getting 1 point.

There's always a lot to take into consideration, but the general "belief" is that, yes, sure.

The theory is that a DGW player should get 4 points regardless (i.e. 2 90 min appearances), but conceeding 2 goals, yellow cards etc put pay to it.

I'm going with VDV, Ade, Bale and Drenthe if it helps. Only other player i'd have would be Baines but missed the boat with him a bit.

None of those chases in that Liverpool montage were particularly good efforts.

Someone criticise Dalglish ffs! If Arsenal were doing this, it'd be "Wenger out", etc.

That Johnson effort was pathetic. Save for the cameras.

Henderson, Carroll and Downing have been a right waste of 75m. Pure Jargon..

Suarez, Enrique have been superb but the above three shouldnt be playing in the red shirt

        Suarez has not been superb.

        Enrique is class though.

Is this a wildly bad idea?
    Silva > Dempsey
    Ruddy > Lindegaard...

    Cash for the future

Actually no I hate the sound of it! Ugh!

    I have the following team

    Vorm (Ruddy)
    Richards, Enrique, Evans (Caulker, Simpson)
    Silva, Mata, Nani, Bale (Tiote)
    RVP, Ade, Ba

I have 0.0 in the bank but need to raise 0.3m to swop Ba for Sturridge. My options are:

    1. Simpson out - Shotton in
    2. Evans out - Shotton in
    3. Mata out - Valencia in

Which transfer should I do please?
