Boxing Day. Unfortunately for these pages, a day named for boxes rather than on-field pugilists, but despite that fact we still have some disciplinary matters to round up…

First on the FA’s morning docket will be Wigan striker (and headline writer’s dream) Conor Sammon, after his red in the 5-0 drubbing from a United side with some notable absentees. His 39th minute clash with Michael Carrick – while the game was still 1-0 – resulted in a straight red and an immediate three-match ban for the Irishman (sto, SUN) followed by the FA Cup trip to Swindon. However, with reports surfacing of agreement between Martínez and Ferguson that the card was harsh and some suggestions that the Wigan manager has already stated his intention to appeal, this may not be the last we hear on this matter.

The other points of note from the games today were fourth yellow cards of the season for Newcastle’s Ivorian enforcer Cheick Tioté and recent Watchlist focus Robert Huth of Stoke. If either is now booked in their final games of the year – the Friday night clash at Liverpool for Tiote and the hosting of Wigan the following day for Huth – then they will incur the customary one-match ban. Avoid caution in that game and they will pass the 1st January deadline unpunished, after which the bar will be raised to 10 yellows before any censure.

GAMEWEEK 19 BANS

  • Conor Sammon (Wigan) – 1 Red for serious foul play (First of 3 matches)

    Huth or Shawcross.

Ideally, I'd rather Huth (much more of a goal threat), but him being on 4 bookings is a problem. Yes, he only has to get through the one game (WIG) before the yellow card amnesty, but not sure it's worth the risk of him either getting booked in that game, or being rested for it (because of the bookings) when I could just get Shawcross instead.

What do you think about Evans injury? Some suggested it's a lie but I have no idea.

    Doubt.. Naylor, Jones, Dyer
    Injured.. Evans

With those injuries in my team, should I still go on plan of Ba ➡ Sturridge ? 2 FT on hands.

Dyer, L. Young + 33 points (assuming Ba and Raylor get 5 Bps between them).

Bit of a dilemma this week...have exactly enough to do Larsson > Bale until Bale rises, but that pretty much rules out VDV for the double. Alternatively I could wait a week and downgrade Demba to fund VDV, but then I'll have to take a hit to get a Spurs defender.

VDV has made me suffer this season but captaining him in the double could be huge (or get 2 points from 2 games).

Merry Christmas all. Could I please have your thoughts on my team?

    http://i.imgur.com/Pa67g.png

I have two free transfers available this week and 0.4M in the bank. Current thoughts are to give Ba one more week in the team then bring in Adebayor for the double gameweek and downgrade a midfielder to pay for it. What should I do for this coming week, if anything?

Two away games after that when Spurs have 3 home games in the same period. Definitely worth doing, maybe after Wigan though.

i dont fancy spurs defence though.. would bench shawcross in his away games. (depends what the rest of the defence is like).. he has great home fixtures right into March.

The GW that was going to be the highest scoring of the season,
All the top teams with good fixtures on paper,
It was always doomed to be a massive let down wasn't it!

Now as I'm what seems to be the only non-RVP owner in the game I'm going to have to hide for a couple of hours tomorrow and hope he suddenly decides he wants to play like Emile Heskey! Not looking forward to it!

Prediction for the Finals, Miami were dominant against Dallas!

I think it will be Oklahoma vs Miami.

Durrant will win the MVP this year.

Looks likely, Conference finals could be OKC - LAC (still fuming about 'that' trade) and MIA - CHI again. Wouldn't mind to see 'King' James losing again, doubt it though.

So, P Jones (0), Brown(2) and Suarez(2) out for a hit were my transfers this week. Seems good so far right?...Players in - JEvans(0 and injured), Caulker (tbc) and Rooney(1). Oh and Simpson would have come in for P Jones...

Worst week ever so far. 5 points from 5 players.

it's a bit hazy. it looked like gallas got the nod over kaboul v chelsea as kaboul was on the bench but apparently it was simply because kaboul got injured in the warm up. if only we knew whether he was due to start or not
