Roy Hodgson fears Chris Brunt may be set for an extended spell on the sidelines. Harry Redknapp awaits news on the extent of calf injuries to William Gallas and Sandro, while Bacary Sagna is reportedly ahead of schedule in his comeback from an ankle injury:

Spurs’ hard-fought win over West Brom last night came at price after William Gallas and Sandro both left the field with calf injuries. The pair are awaiting scans today and, while the severity of Gallas’ injury is yet unclear, Harry Redknapp revealed post-match that Sandro appears to have torn the muscle, with a long absence now expected. The injury problems racked up yesterday, with Jake Livermore, who came on as a sub for Sandro, also limping out of the Baggies clash. Scott Parker missed the game with a knee problem but is hopeful to be available for next week’s game with Everton.

Roy Hodgson has revealed Shane Long missed last night’s game at Spurs due to a back injury. While it is not thought to be serious, it could make the Irishman’s status questionable for the next few weeks. The Baggies boss admitted Chris Brunt is facing a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury against Everton. Hodgson is bracing himself for bad news over the playmaker’s availability:

He has a CT scan today – but we know it’s a serious injury. It’s just a question of the degree of seriousness.

David Moyes is hopeful that loan-signing Landon Donovan can hit the ground running against Bolton tonight. The Everton boss has revealed the American has trained well, looks sharp and is looking forward to getting on the field:

Fitness-wise he is not someone who carries a lot of weight. He is quite lightweight and he looks okay. He has settled in very quickly, so we look forward to getting him in the game and seeing how he does.

Reports suggest Arsene Wenger has been handed a defensive boost with the news that Bacary Sagna could return to the first team sooner than expected. Sagna has been missing since October with a broken ankle and may be fit to face Manchester United in gameweek 22.

Martin O’Neill received some positive injury news today, with both Craig Gordon and Michael Turner returning to reserve action this afternoon. Though their results on the pitch have been impressive, the Black Cats have struggled for options, with a few of O’Neill’s first-team squad struggling with injuries and illness of late.

Hatem Ben Arfa has voiced his frustration at not seeing more first team action for Newcastle this season. The Frenchman has declared himself ‘completely fit’, but believes that his playing style doesn’t suit that of manager Alan Pardew. While Fantasy managers are hopeful of more game time for the Frenchman when Demba Ba departs for the African Cup of Nations, Ben Arfa bemoaned

It’s true we don’t share quite the same philosophy. For him, it’s more crosses, a bit of a more direct style, whereas I’m more the kind of player who likes to play short passes.

Wigan striker Albert Crusat was helped off the pitch during last night’s defeat against Sunderland with a back injury. The Spaniard was replaced after 38 minutes by Victor Moses and was in some discomfort as he left the field. Roberto Martinez said:

We will assess Albert over the next 24 hours, but he couldn’t breathe when he came off so it is a worry.

Mick McCarthy’s first-team options have increased today, with the news that Michael Kightly has returned to Wolves after a three-month loan spell with Watford.

Really think people are going to regret selling Nani. It's no coincidence that his last 2 disappointing fpl returns have been as a result of not having Rooney in the team. Nani > Valencia all day imo, unless people can't afford Nani for money purposes. He was the highest points scorer last season, and is captain material. The likes of Silva and Valencia may be more consistent, but Nani isn't that inconsistent either. I'd feel more confident captaining him than i would those too. With Rooney back in, it should see an increase in Nani's returns too i feel. His 4 highest scores this season have all been with Wayne starting too. If the people selling were doing so for a double gameweek player then fair enough. No reason why Nani shouldn't be in people's Jan Wildcard thinking though, unless you can only afford Valencia.

    Just my opinion. Thoughts appreciated.

I have never been good at predicting his next big GW score so I just kept him in my team since GW1. Have never missed a point and most likely will finish ahead of silva (or atleast close).

You make a convincing argument and I completely agree having watched almost all United games this season. Nani was our biggest threat against Blackburn apart from his end product. I suppose this isn't saying much but I really feel he flourishes with a creative spark in the team to really make a telling, direct contribution rather than having to go it alone. Rooney gets the other striker and 2 wingers really involved in the game and especially quickly on the counter-attack. Cleverley is back soon (I think) and this will only help Nani's cause.

I have him out to finance the DGW. Back in for the WC. It is difficult to predict his big returns so yes I've learnt he's got to be a keeper or not at all. Also agreed he plays better with Roon. Nani, Silva and Bale will be a good core midfield.

I have 2.2 in the bank and was considering doing Sinclair > Dempsey after the deadline giving me a midfield of

      Silva - Bale - Mata - Dempsey

But I am worried about not having Nani. Maybe the better option would be to do Mata > Nani the Sinclair > Walters the week after leaving me with

      Silva - Bale - Nani - Walters

      Yay or nay?

        Nani over Mata definitely.

Better team, more explosive. Not much between them in terms of 'consistency' (depends on how long a time span you judge these things - Nani for me is pretty consistent, albeit a bit of a small dry patch atm)

So far this year he's played 1711 minutes, scored 17 goals and got 6 assist along with 27 bps!

    Nerd rant:

Just got stopped from getting an MOAB on MW3, by some fecker using support killstreaks and killing me with a stealth bomber. I was on about 40-0, he was 12-30, but by virtue of getting 14 points throughout the whole fecking game, he could call in a stealth bomber that took out most of our team, myself included.

    Bah, humbug.

I'm looking for a good one-week-only punt for GW21. It has to be a cheapie I'm afraid.

    Cabaye (QPR at home)

    or

J Evans (Bolton at home)....would be a double up with P Jones.

    Hi all,

Please can you rate my WC team:

    VORM-----LINDEGAARD

    JONES (mu)----ENRIQUE (liv)----KOMPANY (mcy)----NAYLOR----SHOTTON

    SILVA (mcy)----BALE- (tot)---MATA (che)----VALENCIA (mu)----MCLEAN

    ADEBAYOR (tot)----RVP (ars)----STURRIDGE (che)

It has a nice feel to it as the ten outfield players are made up 2 x che, 2 x tot, 2 x mu, 2 x mcy, 1 x ars & 1 x liv. This gives me lots of captain options as 1 of the top six will always have a favourable fixture, (i.e. at home to a lesser opposition).

    also 0.2 in the bank.

    Thanks,

    GARTHATRON

Trying this for a WC team....
    Lindegaard, Vorm
    Raylor, Senderos, Enrique, Richards, Jones
    Silva, Valencia, Sessegnon, Bale, Walters
    RVP, Sturridge, Adebayor

Still got 0.4 in the bank

Senderos: Fulham have a nice run of fixtures the next 10 games, with only the two manchesters away as real no-go games

Enrique Richards and Jones give me good cover at the back of the big teams.

Raylor: Had in since the start, Newcastle have a good run of games, can always transfer out if he starts to be benched.

Sessegnon: Bench against Chelsea then two easy home games, can then free up funds GW24 onwards by swapping for Moses as Wigan have favourable fixtures

Walters: 4 nice home games between now and GW27

RVP/Sturridge/Adebayor: They have done me well so far, considered downgrading Adebayor to Yak, then upgrading Walters to a bigger hitter at some point due to Tottenhams fixtures.

    Anything glaringly obvious I'm missing?

    My front 8 is:

    Silva - Bale - Mata - Nani - Allen
    RVP - Ba - Ade

I'm thinking of doing Ba => Yak as I can't quite afford Studge.

I am a bit unimpressed with Mata. At 9.7 he seems a wee bit over-priced. I could sell him, get someone cheaper and then do Ba => Studge. Problem is, I'm not convinced Studge is a much better prospect. Then again, I feel I should have Chelsea cover. It's all far too confusing for a bear of little brain like myself. I have 2 FTs, 2 wildcards and I'm in a quandary.

He was alright. Held the ball up well and got involved. Not much goal threat though. It was a pretty subdued Spurs performance tbh. Modric aside I don't think many of the front players had a great game. Bale played all over the pitch, had lots of the ball but wasn't on top form. Defoe had one moment of magic and some hustle. VDV wasn't bad, played well off the front pair, defended like an idiot and did his usual thing. Walker was pretty damn good imo. Up and down the flanks. BAE similar but more profligate with the ball. Problem for Spurs is they only have Plan A. When that doesn't work they get frustrated and disjointed.

Big month now for city, no Yaya and I said all along it would be the long trips on a cold night that will see them trip up as they did vs WBA and Sunderland, can see them dropping plenty more points in the next few games. Also Utd have the experience of winning City don't.

Kompany over Richards. No Bale or other Spurs representation. Walters and Moses' inclusion very arguable.

Had walters since 1st week at 6m and v,happy with his returns, Moses probably best cheap option as 1st sub, Can't afford Kompany, Bale without loosing Jones

      It´s ok if you don´t need any differentials. I´d do Enrique-> Cahill/Samba

Maybe Samba, but I think Cahill will rotate too much if he comes to Chelsea
