Thierry Henry returns to Arsenal on a short-term loan deal. Chris Brunt is expected to be sidelined for a couple of months with an ankle injury, while the injuries rack up for Spurs and Everton ahead of the final match of gameweek 20 next Wednesday:

Arsenal have confirmed this afternoon that Thierry Henry has re-joined the club on a short-term loan deal. With Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh heading off to the African Cup of Nations, Arsene Wenger is short in numbers up front and, with Wenger revealing Robin Van Persie will be rested for the FA Cup clash against Leeds, Henry is in line for action. Wenger admitted the forward is a couple of weeks away from full fitness and although Jack Wilshere is not expected to come back from an ankle injury before next month, Thomas Vermaelen is in line for a return after the Gunners trip to Swansea next gameweek.

Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling have both been ruled out out of Manchester United’s FA Cup clash with neighbours City this Sunday. Evans continues to struggle with a calf injury, while Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed Smalling is hopeful of a return to training on Monday, though is still suffering from “a really bad bout of tonsillitis”.

Everton have confirmed via their twitter feed this afternoon that Phil Jagielka could be sidelined for up to six weeks after scans revealed he suffered medial ligament damage in the midweek match at home to Bolton. David Moyes has plenty of other injury worries ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup clash with Tamworth. Jack Rodwell, Tim Cahill and Ross Barkley will not be risked, with Everton still to travel to Spurs on Wednesday in the final match of gameweek 20. Reports have also suggested that Tony Hibbert is struggling with a groin problem. Moyes confirmed Leon Osman requires surgery to remove floating bone in his knee, while Royston Drenthe, Marouane Fellaini and Seamus Coleman may be close to a comeback this weekend.

Adam Bogdan looks set to continue in goal this weekend for Bolton as Owen Coyle takes his side to Macclesfield Town. Jussi Jaaskelainen is still suffering from a thigh strain and will be giving a chance to recuperate before the Trotters’ next league game, away to Man United.

Wigan’s Albert Crusat has been given the all-clear after being subbed off with a back problem in Wigan’s 4-1 home thrashing by Sunderland. The Spaniard replaced Victor Moses in the Latics starting XI, with the latter benched for the first time this season, and Roberto Martinez admitted Crusat should feature more often in his first-team thoughts in the months ahead:

It was a real shame he had to come off against Sunderland, because he was having a massive impact on the game. But he will get plenty of opportunities to show what he can do during the second half of the season.

Alex McLeish has revealed Shay Given is making good progress from a hamstring strain. While the keeper won’t feature this weekend in the FA Cup, Big Eck has admitted there is a chance Given will recover in time for Villa’s next league game at home to Everton.

Harry Redknapp confirmed this morning that both Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson are available for selection as Spurs face Cheltenham in the FA Cup this weekend. The Tottenham boss received bad news on the injury front, though, with William Gallas and Sandro expected to be sidelined for a considerable amount of time, after scans revealed both players picked up calf tears in the recent 1-0 win over West Brom. Scott Parker is also unavailable after picking up a “bad bang” on the knee against Swansea, according to his manager.

Jamie O’Hara is making rapid progress from his recent double hernia operation. The midfielder has, of course, been absent since gameweek 15, but according to the Wolves official website, he has an “outside chance” of making a dramatic return against former club Spurs in gameweek 21, with Mick McCarthy certainly expecting him back within the next fortnight.

Roberto Di Matteo presided over Chelsea’s Friday press conference today and revealed both Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou will leave to join up with the Ivory Coast squad tomorrow. The club had hoped the pair would be available for their FA Cup clash with Portsmouth but, as expected, they will report for international duty ahead of the upcoming African Cup of Nations. Di Matteo also revealed Michael Essien is expected to return to training by the end of the month.

West Brom have confirmed Chris Brunt is to undergo surgery after fracturing his ankle against Everton on New Year’s Day. The Irishman is expected to be sidelined for eight to ten weeks as a result.

Would this back 7 be suicide? Is there any mf/fw line up that you feel could make up for this?

    Sorenson, Mignolet

    Enrique, Shotton, Caulker, MaAuley, Gabibidon/kelly

That line up allows me to have:

    Bale, Nani, Silva, Dempsey, Moses

    Ade, Aguero, RVP

Just throwing out ideas so if this is retarded please say so.

I personally think a Man City defender is worth the extra money over a Pool defender (Enrique) especially given fixtures. And Ade and Bale is too much Spurs, as their fixtures start to get a lot worse. Maybe Sturridge (or ultimately Ba) and then upgrade Enrique -> Kompany?

well - if you're going to sacrifice this season, it has to come from def - lowest averages in top players and not predictable by home fixtures so not suicide - but a little risky.
AND - you have to rotate one of the front 8.......

Yeah I was jst planning to perma bench Moses outta that lot. If Ba hadn't gone off I wouldn't have a problem at all but as is I'm just trying to regain my early season edge and maybe I'm reaching too far. Ade to yak is possible which would allow to Install

        Jones, Richards, Caulker, Shutton, McAuley.

        Hows that look?

I might be able to make way for evens if he comes back and can nail down a spot but if I'm to have Aguero Jones can't be in my line up. Also I think all the injuries are finally starting to take a toll and is kinda risky to invest in their back line at this moment in time.

but with Smalling and Evans both under 5.5M, they're easier to shift in than Kompany or Baines or Verm.

A - keep Jones and have Vorm and Moreira as my keepers

    Or

B - Change Jones to Shotton and have De Gea and Lindegaard as my keepers

I can't do Vorm and Lindegaard before anyone suggests that. I have Caulker if this helps advice greatly appreciated its driving me mad

In answer to your question. Personally I wouldn't even consider getting him. He's far too expensive for someone who is off form. You'll be waiting for him to do something every week, and then kidding yourself the next week he will kill it. Of course he could turn out to be brilliant, but it's too much of a risk for me.

Made some ground in my mini league from up to 3rd.

    W/C this week with this plan going forward ;

Guzan (Given if he's back) - Mignolet
Kompany - Simpson - Jones- BAE - Caulker
    Valencia - Bale - Gerard - Walters - Sess
    Ade - Studge - RVP

£0m in bank, 3 Spurs too much post DGW and if the answer's is yes who to bring in?

    Vorm Krul

    Kompany Simpson Coloccini Naylor Brown

    Bale Dempsey Milner Sess Walters

    RVP Aguero Ade

Will be shipping out ade before the city game and will use money to upgarde defence each week
fancy that front 3 for their games this week

milner for a bit of differiantal until yaya return

doubling up on Swans is a risk, and tripling up on Newc even more so. Like that mid, I agree on Milner should see more game time with Yaya gone. I take you plan to rotate Sess and Walters on home games?

My feeling is there are two many prime midfielders to have two cheap rotating ones. There's Bale, Nani, Mata, VDV, Dempsey, Silva, etc. I want four of those personally.

It's a valid point but the theory is based on having an expensive frontline of RVP, Aguero and Sturridge

Cheers for the replies, still dont know if I'm any wiser though. Fack, I havent any other MU players, swopped Nani to Val and Roo to Ade for DGW to get Bale in. Dont really feel like bringing Roo back until he shows some form.

And I also agree with your point Happy about him playing in defence. By the time that's sorted Young might be back in contention.

          Aargh.

Wolves are more likely to score against Tottenham away than QPR away to Newcastle right?

Fletch seems to be in top form and Tottenham are a little less solid at the back than Newcastle.

Youre going to have a problem benching a forward player everyweek with that front 8 man. Very nice team. I think you can do better than Brown in defence, maybe Evans if he's fit.

Surprised that Carroll hasn't played a part in the match. His confidence is shot to bits. He should be loaned out to Newcastle in Ba's absence.
