Robbie Keane joins Aston Villa on a short-term loan deal. Roberto Mancini is hoping to have David Silva available for City’s trip to Wigan, Rio Ferdinand has picked up a stomach bug, while Daniel Sturridge and John Terry are both fit for Chelsea’s clash with Sunderland:

Manchester City are sweating over the fitness of David Silva after the Spaniard missed last night’s League Cup semi-final against Liverpool. The midfielder was subbed off at half time in last weekend’s FA Cup loss to Man United with the problem but Roberto Mancini is hopeful his playmaker will recover in time for Monday’s trip to Wigan. Silva, who has seen a steady decline in his ownership in recent weeks, could see his popularity fall even further now his fitness is in doubt.

Andre Villa-Boas’ Thursday afternoon press conference was full of plenty information for Fantasy managers. Daniel Sturridge and John Terry are both fit for the visit of Sunderland, though Branislav Ivanovic and John Obi Mikel are still sidelined. Florent Malouda is a doubt, while Michael Essien could return next weekend for the trip to Norwich.

Sylvain Distin, who picked up a hamstring injury against Spurs last night, looks unlikely to be fit to face Aston Villa on Saturday. The Frenchman lasted 58 minutes at White Hart Lane and is expected to go for tests today to determine the extent of the injury.

Rio Ferdinand is a doubt for Manchester United’s home clash with Bolton this weekend. The centre-half took to twitter to inform his followers he has picked up a stomach bug and is struggling to be available for the weekend. Good news for owners of Jonny Evans, then- the Irishman has recovered from a calf problem and was on the bench for the 3-2 FA Cup win at Man City on Sunday.

Aston Villa have confirmed they have completed a loan move for LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane. The former Liverpool and Spurs man will be eligible to face Everton at the weekend and will remain in the midlands up to and including gameweek 26 when Villa travel to Wigan. Villa have been struggling for goals of late and the Midlanders will hope that Keane, who has 123 Premier League goals to his name, can reignite their stuttering season.

Tom Cleverley will be given more time to recover from his ankle ligament injury to ensure a total recovery. The young midfielder was originally scheduled to return to action over Christmas, but with Anderson and Paul Scholes returning to bolster the United midfield, the Old Trafford medical team are reluctant to bring Cleverley back into action until he is completely ready.

Kenny Dalglish has revealed that the injury sustained by midfielder Jay Spearing is not as serious as initially thought. Spearing pulled up with a hamstring injury last night after 23 minutes and was replaced by Charlie Adam. Dalglish said after the game:

It was his hamstring, but it wasn’t too bad. It just went a bit tight on him. I don’t think he has pulled anything, but we’ll have to wait until the morning when he gets back.

Good news re Sturridge and hopeful outlook on Silva should mean I'm good to go this week without hits and WC still in pocket.

    Krul
    Evans, Walker, Enrique
    Bale, Silva, Valencia, Dempsey
    RVP(c), Ade, Sturridge

    Vorm, Drenthe, Shotton, Boyata

I'm going into hospital in the morning for hernia op 🙁 so last chance to tinker. Right captain? Was going with Bale, any other changes? No free transfers

Good luck with the operation, nasty that I am sure.

I have the armband on Bale currently, Swansea at home is not going to mean a lot of goals, maybe one or two, with a goal for RVP possibly. But, Wolves at White Hart Lane to a buoyant Spurs team is heavily influencing my captaincy decision. Now that Sturridge is fit I am also considering him vs Sunderland, but I would probably stick with RVP over him.

I also have an inkling that United will thump Bolton at home, and have considered Nani (C) myself.

Basically, the captaincy is far from cut and dried for once, go with your gut! Pun intended! 😉

    Vorm Ruddy
    BAE Enrique Evans Simpson Hibbert
    Bale Nani Silva Drenthe Fox
    RvP Ade Ba

1 FT, 0.2 in the bank.

With the Sturridge news I'll almost certainly go Ba to Sturridge (although tempted by Odem for a punt home to Norwich.)

Would you also do something like Hibbert to Senderos as well for a 4 pointer, bearing in mind that Silva is a doubt, Fox is useless, Evans isn't nailed on and Drenthe is Drenthe?

      team looks good mate!
i would say maybe down grade in the mid and defence to upgrade your forwards.

no need to have all 5 epic mids like that. i would get rid of either valencia or sess. prob valencia. hes in good form but playing less of an attacking role than i would like.

you could get Moses as a replacment and free up 3.2

then maybe get rid of one of the Tottenham defenders....downgrade maybe to kelly from Fulham....good fixtures and a deal at the price of 3.9.

after all that BOOOST the forwards.....i like Aguero...VERY nice fixtures over the next 9 weeks.

      hope this helps a bit!

    or

    Stockdale/Sorensen (8.9M)

for the rest of the season... Krul has some good fixtures but Vorm less so. The other pair maybe rotate better but don't have the greatest record so far.

Looking the Valencia Vs Nani situation, i reckon if both were around the same price, a lot of people would go for Valencia but u feel you better with a more expensive player.

Im not saying Valencia will outscore Nani till the end of the season but Valencia has been really consistant since hes been back from injury with 7 assists, 1 goal and 5 baps in 7 games. I feel like i should have Nani over Valencia but this game is a lot about form and hes the man in form.

Im just sort of thinking out loud but im trying to decide between the 2, Valencia certainly helps the rest of my side but again its that comfort of a more expensive player. Plus Nani makes it easy to swap to Silva at some point.

Valencia's price is just too good to ignore in comparison, Nani is not looking good at the moment! I know he's an explosive player, but Valencia just looks like guaranteed points and a better value for the time being.

If you have Nani I'd say keep for this game, but if you have the option (WC etc.) then I'd go Valencia. *Unless you have Rooney, in which I don't think either is essential*

    Silva(inj?) Bale HBA Valencia 7.3?

Ruddy is a waste of a slot, not convinced by Lescott either.. the rest looks ok.. maybe Sess or Ramires for the spare midfield slot... hang fire on Silva it looks like he could make the Wigan game

The Sturr>Yak swap could work... although personally i'm not sure how long Yak will keep scoring but i think Sturridge will only get better...

Walters LIV (A) or Helguson NEW (A)

Helguson might be out to impress the new manager. He doesn't seem the sort to sulk, even though Drogba has been mentioned as a possible QPR signing.

Stoke might go for a draw. Or they might get a penalty...
