It’s not been the greatest of gameweeks so far, has it? With a couple of clashes still to go, many of us will be keeping a keen eye on tomorrow night’s events at the Emirates, with the hopes of many a Fantasy manager pinned firmly on the shoulders of Robin Van Persie.

For now, though, our members can now pick through all the statistics from the Gameweek and, once again, we’ve picked out some eye-catching numbers to digest. As usual, we’ve also included our prediction of where the Fantasy Premier League bonus will go…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Time for some stats porn on Silva. Move along now if this ain't your thing!

Over the last 6 gameweeks, Silva has averaged just 3 points per gameweek (3.63 per 90-minute appearance), which is a significant drop from his 5.9 average over the first 21 gameeeks (6.9 per 90-minute appearance). This is despite maintaining his consistency advantage over his peers - his consistency actually improved from 3.4 over the first 21 gameweeks to 2.2 over the last 6 gameweeks, based on standard deviation.

Over this 6-week period, his fpl scoring averages compare pretty unfavourably against some of the other big hitters in midfield:

Bale 4.5 (over last 6 games) & 5.7 (over last 6 games, per 90-minute appearance)
    Dempsey 6.0 & 6.0
    Mata 4.8 & 5.3
    Nani 2.2 & 7.0
    Young 4.6 & 12.2
    Lampard 3.5 & 5.3

Looking at Silva's Opta stats over the last 6 weeks, his passing is still one of the best in the league; over the last 6 gameweeks he has made:
    - 16 key passes, bettered only by Modric (21) and Mata (20);
    - 223 passes in the opponent's half which is bettered only by Carrick (300), Arteta (242) and Scholes (233);
    - 16 through balls, second only by Song (17).

In terms of goal threat, he has racked up just 8 attempts on goal (4 on target), which is half that of Bale and Dempsey, and the same as Lampard despite playing 120 minutes more than him. Even compared to the wider pool of midfield players he ranks behind the likes of Taarabt, Sigurdsson, Morrison and Kuyt on both goal attempts and attempts on target over this period.

To put this another way, Silva has averaged just 0.81 attempts on target per 90 minute appearance over the last 6 gameweeks which ranks him 29th best midfielder (of those making 10 or more appearances over the season). In the first 22 gameweeks he made an average of 1.12 attempts on target per 90 minute appearance which was enough to rank him 9th on the list. (By comparison, Dempsey tops this list at 1.72, over the course of the season as a whole).

It seems clear that he is just as creative as he ever was, but it's the goals and assists that have been lacking of late and this is behind his drop off in fpl scoring.

Whether this is down to his dodgy ankle, team tactics or just a temporary dip, I have no idea. But having had him all season, I'm now thinking of dumping him for one of the United trio.

      awesome summary.

Silva is a bit like Modric - considering his contribution on the field when you watch him play you would think he would be scoring a lot more points...

Inconsistent in terms of performance or appearances? The latter I'd argue, and hey, if he get's injured he get's injured. He's consistent *enough* for me in terms of points returns if he gets a prolonged run of starts.

Great writing Turd, I was thinking of getting rid youve just copperfastened my view. Yaya prob enough cover here. I ditched Aguero>Roo for today-Well pleased with that, Done Kompany>Skrtel also it now seems City cover is not essential. Are they in a bit of trouble ? Gone are their 3/4 goals a game,Ok their cs have improved but their defence is dear and rotating and absences of kompany/lescott weakens considerably. Savic is no Jevan! Time will tell if they can turn it around and more interestingly can they handle the pressure in the run-in.

ok Corrigan I checked, Valencia would allow 2 of Mata, Jags and Ade but not all 3, but I am just not convinced about United in midfield due to rotation. It’s a really tough call to make.

Like I said, am happy to go without Ade as he is frustrating to own, need to see about Mata’s starts (although I suspect he sat out the Stoke game with Napoli in mind). My main rival owns Yak so am seeking a differential to him as we would have the same strikeforce otherwise.

Basically I can get Young and Jags and have 13.5 for a non-Yak striker and mid

or I can get Jags, Valencia and Mata and have 5.9 for the last striker.

think I might get Young in this week, easy to swap down, not so easy to go up. Can make the decision then.

I cold always just keep McLean and have 8.8 to replace Ba with. Who knows by GW32 Danny boy Sturridge could have found some form.

this is true, but there are plenty of decent options in that price range, Odemwingie, Crouch, Jelavic, Saha, Bendy, Rodallega, Bellamy, Welbeck. Could even keep Ba or punt on Super Mario.

    UCL ramble…

Reports are being posted about a bust up between the manager of AC Milan, 4vetti, and his star midfielder David Silva. 4vetti was quoted in The Sun as saying “David eees not his usual polished self. Da Silva has lost eets shine and this is not good for the Milanista. No… I will make no further comment except I am in the market for a beeg scoring player. I sheeped in Rooney but we need more, always more. I hope David will stay but he has to play with his balls, to be manly and make our opponents his puttane. He needs to get on top.”

When asked about the like outcome of this week’s match against Cole Hole’s BATE Borisov 4vetti replied “It’s too close. Squeaky bum tempo… Tuesday morning will tell the truth. I expect a win if Ba can not get the cartellino rosso. Basta ora… I have a family”

Yes JKISTHE1? I'm looking at your options but I'm sadly lacking much insight.

Young looks a good option for me.

I think so too. See above re striker options. Have 2 weeks to consider it all thankfully

            Silva ➑ Young this week

            Taiwo ➑ Jags next

then nothing giving me 2 FTs GW32 to analyse strikers.

REPOST..could really need some help with this.

    My team guys..
    Schwarzer-Mignolet
    Caulker-Skrtel-BAE-Evans-McAuley
    Dempsey-Bale-Walcott-Sigurdsson-Miyaichi
    Holt-RVP-Rooney

Does these transfers look good for you?

    For GW 29: Holt>Odemwingie

For GW 30:BAE>Patrice Evra. Irealise having BAE in my WC team was a mistake. πŸ™
Spurs defense have been conceded many goals in last games. United have awesome fixtures and IMO it’s better to double up with Evans and Evra and Rooney upfront, with the uncertainty of the wingers.
Evra also looked very lively today, coming in on overlaps and breaking into the box. Should have got an assist.

I would keep bae actually, their tough run is nearly ending so if you've kept him til now it's not a major issue holding another week?

I think its a good idea tbf, As we saw No Nani today that could be young next week then Val etc, etc. I had Linde/ Jevan /roo -( Planned for this week) because of rotators. Then Linde gets crocked and imo De Gea turns world class and looks 18m

I assume you left BAE in your team due to PBA and tots fixtures from GW31. If that was your plan then don't kneejerk and abort now. Tot had a redic run of games and things didn't go their way. Holt to Odem is ok but you should be aware that Odem basically scored 5 goals from just 5 shots on target and that will never be sustainable in the Prem for any player.

Ba this week, Odem every other. Keep your eyes on Sturridge though, if he starts to re-find his form he could be great to own from GW32.

      For fixtures, Odem.
For a potential purple patch, Ba - think he has goals coming.

I agree, Newcastle going through a bad spell atm.

Once they turn that around the goals will come again for Ba. He has been 1 of 3 fixture proof players this season. (RvP and Rooney are the others)

Evening all, OK, whilst my FPL team continues to underperform… so I continue anti depression therapy with anagrams.
Here’s my anagram competition between the Totalfpl Dream Team and the Scout Picks for this gameweek… Who wins? πŸ˜‰
Defense A: Howard Skrtel Baines Enrique Evans = Sin ran never to be equaled rikshaws
Defense B: Ruddy Evans Skrtel Baines = Risky substandard eleven (sorry scouts, I don’t think it’s that bad really, that’s just the best anagram I could come up with, err ;-))
Midfield A: Pilkington Drenthe Miyaichi = Heady oil-thickening imprint
Midfield B: Walcott Mata O’Hara Surman = Mortal catamaran washout
Attack A: Rooney Van Persie Suarez = Every Ouzo earner’s pains
    Attack B: ditto πŸ˜‰
    So… who wins?
(yup, I know, time for bed…, let’s hope for lots of points tomorrow, good luck everyone!)

do we think Young will go up tonight?

He's on 93% on FISO, want to get him but would love to hold off until tomorrow at least, though ideally until after EUROPA, but not sure I'll make till then, he could be the same price as Silva.
