James Morrison is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks after sustaining a knee injury against Newcastle on Sunday. Carlos Tevez could start for City on Saturday, while both Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero may return. Anders Lindegaard is uncertain when he will overcome an ankle injury, David Moyes is full of praise for Nikica Jelavic, and Victor Moses could be ready to return this weekend for Wigan, after positive scans on a facial injury sustained at Liverpool.

West Brom are hopeful that James Morrison will return before the end of the season after picking up a knee injury in Sunday’s home defeat by Newcastle. Scans have revealed the midfielder has damaged the medial ligament in his left knee and, while he is expected to be sidelined for weeks, Morrison has already started rehabilitation at the club’s training ground. The club’s head of medical services, Mark Gillett, revealed:

We’ve had positive news on James. We came to the conclusion on Sunday that it would more likely be a medial ligament issue, rather than a cruciate one, but you can’t be 100 per cent sure until the swelling has receded and you get the injury scanned. The outcome means that his rehab period will be more a case of weeks than months and, if all goes to plan, he should be able to play against this season.

Morrison’s absence vacates a role in the hole, with the likes of Chris Brunt perhaps prepared to step up, if Roy Hodgson decides to afford the playmaker a more attacking role in the Baggies midfield. Brunt has mainly filled in on the flanks since recovering from an ankle injury but, with Morrison now sidelined, Hodgson has a ready-made replacement available ahead of next weekend’s trip to Everton.

David De Gea’s Fantasy owners can relax a little after Anders Lindegaard admitted he is uncertain over a likely return date from an ankle problem. The latter had leapt ahead of the summer signing in the pecking order for United, having played five of their six fixtures between Gameweek 17-22 but is set to remain sidelined with the injury, picked up in training back in January. Lindegaard went on to reveal:

Of course I hope to have some involvement in the final part of the season. I want to contribute to winning the championship more than I have done so far. It has been a frustrating time, but that’s how life goes. I don’t know when I will be back, so I just have to keep smiling. It is the worst possible time for anyone to get injured.

Reports today suggest Carlos Tevez could be set to start for City against Sunderland this weekend. With both Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko failing to impress of late, it’s been alleged that City have centred their training plans with a start for Tevez in mind. If the Argentine can cement a starting role, he could prove to be the ultimate end of season differential as City look to chase down United at the top of the table, though a price tag of 11.7 is likely to deter investors, with question marks still against his first-team role right now.

Further reports suggest City could be set to welcome back Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany for the Black Cats’ visit on Saturday. Aguero is on course to recover from the foot problem that forced him out of the trip to Stoke, while Kompany has missed the last three with a calf injury; with City conceding in each of those matches, his absence has been sorely felt. Joleon Lescott may continue to miss out for Roberto Mancini’s men, with rest the only answer to his on-going groin problem.

David Moyes has backed Nikica Jelavic to grab the goals for Everton, with the January signing now beginning to establish himself in the Toffees first-team. Jelavic has bagged two goals in three starts since arriving from Glasgow Rangers and, having overcome injuries, has now featured in Moyes’ first XI in the last two, scoring against Swansea last weekend.

I think he has done quite well. When he came he had a bit of a problem with his stomach and he has missed a few weeks but he has given us something slightly different and scored a couple of goals. It can weigh on you (not scoring) and we have had other centre-forwards here who have found it a struggle to score.

With games against West Brom, Norwich and Sunderland up next, Jelavic – priced at 5.9 – is another forward with the potential to be a decent differential over the last eight gameweeks, as Moyes looks to increase a goal threat that has harvested just 30 goals from 30 games thus far.

Victor Moses could be back in the Wigan lineup this weekend, after scans revealed he has not suffered a fractured jaw. The 5.0 midfielder was subbed off at Anfield following a challenge by Martin Skrtel but Roberto Martinez confirmed the prognosis was positive earlier today:

We got him checked out straight away in the hospital because there was the potential for a fractured bone in his face. The results came back really positive and there was no fracture which allows us to treat him. We will see within the next few days whether he is available for selection on Saturday.

The Latics boss also revealed Hugo Rodallega and Mohamed Diame could be on course for quick returns from knee and groin injuries respectively, with both players to be assessed ahead of the weekend game against Stoke.

Beleaguered Wolves boss Terry Connor received some good injury news regarding his injury-stricken midfield earlier today. Karl Henry, David Davis and Stephen Hunt have all returned to training this week, with Henry confident of a return to the first-team fold in the crucial Molineux encounter against Bolton on Saturday. Connor also revealed he is sweating on the availability of Michael Kightly, after a challenge by Grant Holt forced the winger off with an ankle problem towards the end of the 2-1 defeat at Norwich.

Do you think they tagged that with "no-impact news" or "helps Dalglish make one less mistake"?

exactly my thoughts, when their top scorer in goals is their LB, then it is a sad, sad sight. And Jelavic is not a top finisher, from what i saw today. And he won't play 90mins all the time as Moyes likes his defense as we know it.

Not really a fan of the 'Players being due' thought process. Its makes you keep players longer than you should and fall behind others who went for the in form players. Ba has been a little unlucky not to score more but its also a function of his deeper role since coming back from ACON. If you have a FT then I would ship him out for 1 of Cisse/Jellyfish/Ade.

The main reason was that Pennant and Pulis weren't getting on so Shotton was getting the starts in his place in RM. I'd assume now that they'd made peace so Pennant will probably be starting for the foreseeable future unless he has a bad game.

Pulis and his bloody rotation, I woul have got Begovic but who knows, one bad game and Sorenson could go back in net. I know Pennant and Shotton aren't both world class but it seems a similar situation.

          We got similar WC teams..

I have decided to stick w Suarez at least for a few more weeks. AVL is coming up next homegame, could be a big home win. Your rival has him though, so..

Defence is where I will spend my freebies, maybe get Bale or VDV in.

i've actually only taken 3 all season! and all were just 4pointers. with the end of the season near im feeling a bit more risky though so took one last week (regretting it but I think it was justified) and might be taking one this week (what are your thoughts on silva to walcott for a hit?)

I think yes! given the fixtures all three of those have this week i think the hit should be easily repaid 😀

Haha, me too! 3 point hits all season!!

I'm just not sure Skrtel -> Verm is worth a hit. Koscielny is a slight doubt and we have MCY next week whereas Skrtel has AVL. I actually think they will score similarly over the 2 games!!

Silva -> Walcott, yes. For a hit, no. Silva is a class act and MCY pretty much have to win every game now. He could easily score just as big this week imo.

I think that skrtel to verm is worth the hit for this week! and you'd still have enrique to play next week. play verm this week and bench him worst case next week. Following 2 points total from enrique and skrtel against wigan in addition to the same combined score from the two of them against qpr I don't see a good reason to keep two of them. I think verm plus one of them is a much better bet

ok thanks for the sound advice. maybe ill do that next week unless i have more pressing transfers.

Statistics wise the best choice for captain in the next gw seems to be RvP. QPRs recent form is very dire and i can seen RvP tearing them a new one. The only problem is that he may bay be rested imo.

The second best is Rooney but with his deep playing position I wouldn`t risk it.

The third best differential option seems to be Dempsey.

Or we could go all out attack, knowing that we are probably not going to keep a clean sheet! To go defensive, he would have to drop one of the toon trident, and I don't see that happening after sundays performance, especially against Liverpool at home. We owe them a beating!!

Is anyone not captaining Rooney(bla) or RVP(qpr) this weekend?

I can understand why some might captain Bale or Dempsey but if it doesn't come off you've more than likely missed out big time. Along with feeling absolutely gutted your punt didn't pay off you'll have a big fat red arrow accompanying you.

Not trying to influence anyone of course.

    Think I'll be captaining RVP.

Think I'm going with Rooney, I don't doubt RVP will score well at QPR, but there may be a change in tide for Arsenal, in that other people are involved in the goals. I think SAF will know they'll need to score a few to beat Blackburn too so would expect a decent return from Rooney too.

Howard Webb is reffing the United game as well, hard to argue with penalties on our side too...Just curious but did you captain RVP last week?

Webb aside, we never usually score very highly away to Blackburn, you can argue this year is a little different for Blackburn but I don't see a lot of goals.

Went with Rooney. I think I may end up with RVP this week, QPR are just in terrible form, and I can't see that changing really!

RVP, Bale, Rooney, Dempsey (in that order) for me. All are excellent choices this week though.

Bale's an intriguing option this week. I'd captain him against any mid-table side except Swans, who're totally capable of surprises.

True, although no Caulker (and I think Williams) at the back make Swansea a much less convincing defensive outfit. I fancy Spurs to win this one easily. 3-0

Where is this Williams out coming from? I've seen you and Aqua both say it, he missed out the game before last, but played 90 at the weekend.

Tbh I probably just saw someone else write it on here. Chinese whispers etc. Still, I think they will miss Caulker and Tottenham will be boosted by the win last night knowing they need a result in the league. I'm benching Siggy.... 😯

Yeah, I'm not overly happy about it, but Spurs away isn't easy. Also, tough to bench any of these over him:

                  Walcott, Dempsey, Valencia, Bale
                  RVP, Rooney, Suarez

Yeah I'm not overly happy about it, but Spurs away isn't easy and it'd be tough benching any of these 7 over him:

                  Bale, Dempsey, Walcott, Valencia
                  RVP, Rooney, Pog

Time to predict my ML leader's transfer move(s) this week - 1 freebie and 0.0m in the bank...

    Migs, Sorenson
    Verm, JEvans, Enrique, Kelly, Taiwo
    Dempsey, Bale, Walters, Downing, Ryo
    RVP, Rooney, Suarez

I'm gonna say Downing -> Yaya??

I really like MDM looks like a great mix. What's your transfer plan next week? Assuming you have a plan, normally customary with a wildcard.

Maybe get rid of Demsey and s.o. else before GW 33 for some Man City coverage. But it depend on the players' performance. I plan to stick with this team more less to the end.

Nice team. Personally I'd want Bale, so I'd consider doing Baines, Barfa & Ade -> Kaboul/Walker, Bale & P Cisse

looks ace to me. Baines a nice differential -esp since he seems to come alive in the last few months of the season! only worry would be no Bale - think i'd prefer him over Ade to be honest
