Having failed to notch away from Craven Cottage this calendar year, many a Fantasy managers’ plans for the upcoming double Gameweek 36 had centred around getting rid of Clint Dempsey. This afternoon at the Reebok, the American give us plenty to ponder as a brace ended Bolton’s recent winning run and sent the US international to second behind Robin Van Persie in the overall points rankings.

Prior to today’s display, Dempsey’s notoriously poor away form had produced just three goals, compared to 10 goals and six assists in front of his own fans. With a blank Gameweek 34 on the horizon and trips to Liverpool and Everton in Gameweek 36, the decision to transfer him out made plenty sense; Fulham had scored just eight on the road all season before today, after all. Now, however, many have a dilemma.

Given his current form, those still holding Dempsey will surely look upon Monday evening’s upcoming home clash against Chelsea as another potentially strong opportunity of points. The visit of Wigan in Gameweek 35 affords him the chance of a substantial home haul, with the option of the captain’s armband a definite possibility.

While Gareth Bale and David Silva (without a goal since Gameweek 24 and Gameweek 16 respectively) stumble towards the finish line, Dempsey – handed a role up front in light of Pavel Pogrebnyak’s absence – simply shows no sign of letting up as he forges further ahead of his fellow-midfielders in the Fantasy running.

Transfer plans may now be postponed or ripped up altogether as we look for ways to hold onto the American. That straight swap for Theo Walcott before Arsenal’s trip to Wolves on Wednesday that many had in mind, or the move to Stephane Sessegnon for Sunderland’s home game with the midlanders in Gameweek 34 may never see the light of day now. With form the clear winner over fixtures as the season heats up, can we really afford to run the risk of moving out such a potent source of points?

These next few GWs are classic FPL, so many variables, so many options, so much potential for getting it brilliantly right or spectacularly wrong. Wish I spent this much time on my job.......

Fulham's only game against a team in the bottom half until the end of the season is Wigan. (who may I add should have had at least a point against Chelsea).
I imagine it'll be pretty tought for them.

      I'd do Walcott > Dempsey.
At least Arsenal still have something to play for.

although.. towards the end of the season it might not be an advantage playing the bottom half teams as they tend to fight for their survival. If the team is already relegated, sure, captain whomever attacking player you have playing against them. But if the team is still in the fight its way better to field players playing vs a stoke or norwich in the middle of nowhere.

Absolutely. I'll only have 8 or 9 max. Lot of silly talk on here about the need to have 11 players for this one week that places limitations on your team for later gwks.

Look at the fixtures holistically i.e. 34-38 rather than just two gwks in isolation.

    Subs: Schwarzer Bendtner McClean Kelly

Just wondering who thinks I should start Bendtner over one of my defence...?

It's difficult - Everton are going to drop a host of players before the FA semi-final, so perhaps McClean rather than Bendtner. I'd drop Cahill.

    Good morning people.

Slight on my midfield dilemma none the wiser, so here goes same question as the one last night.

Who to sit on the bench gw333 ....

Bale? Siggy? Dempsey? Valencia? Or Walcott

    Tricky one.

ps I am only playing 4 in midfield as I am convinced to start Ba. I know form, cisse, bla, bla, bla....

          Form over fixtures.

          Last 10 scores: 15, 2, 3, 5, 0, 2, 5, 3, 5, 3

Norwich are by no means cannon fodder and Bale's last good game, FPL wise, was against a Wigan team who hadn't yet reached the 30 game mark in the season (which is when they annually seem to suddenly decide to turn up at football matches and try and win them to stay up).

            Fair point (above)

But with spurs fixtures and bales potential that could be a very dangerous combination. Something. I would rather have in my team than see others have and me watch from outside and be sh*tting them every game.

He's a must keep, despite fpl scores of late IMO.

LIke people who were mental to sell BA after the ACON?

Or people who months ago sold Silva when those who were keeping him were sayign he was going to come good again?

Or people who captained Dempsey this GW despite the fact that he'd done 'nothing' away from home?

I wager the best Bale does against Norwich is an assist.

                Quality grav by the way.

If Walcott makes it unscathed through City today the I'm putting my money where my mouth is and getting rid of Bale for Theo.

Walcott in present form is likely to outscore Bale next GW. Based on what we saw from Chelsea, at home, against what is essentially a Championship level side yesterday Dempsey has every chance to inflict further damage against them.

I will get Ade in for the DGW and may consider buying Bale back for GW36, but to be honest with you I am quite happy to get rid of Bale now and I don't have any fear that the decision is going to bite me in the ass the rest of the way to the end of the season.

If you want to keep him then keep him and sell someone else instead.

                Simples.

I'm with on ade for the dgw nomar.

I also agree with Walcott for obvious reasons.

I also think Chelsea side over next few weeks could be shuffled due to fixtures ahead in next 10 days, so nice for clint... Potentially.

Tbh I think there are few kids at the moment this I won't but can't have / play... I want to get sess for next week also.

Yeah, I want Sess too, but I can't have him and Theo without having to take a hit or lose another DGW player.

Bottom line is that I'll have to settle for McClean for GW34 if I want a Sunderland mid.

Or I may take a real all or nothing punt and get Taarabt in for the Swansea and WBA games.

          Not really.

I would take a1-0 defeat as it would still keep us out of the bottom 3 having played the same number of games as Wigan, Wolves and Blackburn.

At the start of this weekend that had to be our first priority. Results yesterday really went as well as we could have dreamed as QPR fans.

To not play and have the clubs below us all lose and keep us out of the bottom 3, plus Blackurn shipping 3 to WBA so our GD is +5 better than them was the icing on the cake.

Really, any result that keeps us in 17th place at the end of this evening is a good result as far as I'm concerned.

Given Chelsea fixtures over next week fulham, spurs (fa cup), the barca In order 10 days be interesting to see how the line up v fulham.

I can't see them riski terry, but not sure whether will pick?

Will they take ite fa cup less seriously now th a the fulham game as they got barca 3 days after the fa semi?

They're going to wrecked by the time QPR turn up.........what with Cole, Lampard and Terry currently a bit iffy, they'll be dipping deep in the squad....rotation central, steer clear...

    project blank/dgw have started:
    cahill & mata out
    vermelen & valencia in

next week suarez out for most likely bendy leaves me with 11 players but a 5-3-2 (no hits)
gw 35 nthn (already have miyachi)

dgw: ade & a defender in
bendy and a defender out leaving me with 5 dgw players with 0 pts hits

    is it enough?

Don't rate Miyaichi in FPL. Outside that sounds good.
