This Gameweek has proven to be a big headache for the Scout Committee team, and with a limited pool of talent to choose from, we’ve had to dig deep to fish out three worthy “Differential” selections for you. We’ve ended up with an Austrian, a Spaniard and a Serb. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before…

Andreas Weimann

Aston Villa have arguably the toughest fixture of any of the teams playing this weekend with a trip to Old Trafford on the agenda but we’re thinking ahead here, boxing clever. While returns are likely to be limited on Sunday afternoon, Weimann should be considered as a worthy option – Villa’s double Gameweek 35 means they play three times when every other team plays just once or twice, introducing an interesting strategy for navigating the next three Gameweeks. The paradox of fielding a full XI this week is that you end up with less players with a double Gameweek 36, but by using players from Bolton and Aston Villa, you can boost the number of matches in Gameweek 35 and gain an extra fixture without taking a points hit.

Obviously this strategy only comes good if Weimann plays every game and in that respect, it’s a risky choice. All the signs stack up in the Austrian’s favour however; he managed his first 90 minute run out last time out and Alex Mcleish has been raving about him in the press following his wonder goal against Stoke. Villa look all but safe from relegation and have little left to play for and, considering his main rival in the side – Emile Heskey – is unlikely to earn a new contract in the summer, you’d have to bet on the youngster getting his chance over the remaining games.

Fixtures and rotation risks aside, Weimann looks a real prospect. That’s two goals in the last five Gameweeks now, which is already more than Heskey has managed all season. Priced at 5.0 he can fit any budget, and with less than 1000 owners at the time of writing, he is currently a proud member of the 0.0% club. With United likely to be jittery following the Wigan defeat, the young Austrian’s fearless approach may just trouble them.

Aleksandar Kolarov

While Weimann is a pick that could come good once the Gameweek has passed, Aleksandar Kolarov is the opposite – a potential one-hit wonder who could possibly pay off big this weekend for those willing to take the punt. The Serbian is notorious around these parts for letting us down when we throw his name into the ring, so this one comes with a health warning. Even so, if Roberto Mancini chooses to rotate Gael Clichy and hand Kolarov an outing at Carrow Road, the formbook says he’ll make an impact.

Kolarov has notched a goal and three assists in his last two league starts – admittedly they were home matches but, in a Gameweek where clean sheets could be a scarcity, Kolarov has attacking potential that few defenders can rival based on form over recent outings. With just 0.8% ownership, if you take temporary membership to the Kolorov fan club (Mark is still the chairman, secretary and treasurer) then it could pay dividends at a time when gambles could be the order of the day.

Mikel Arteta

While Theo Walcott hoovers up transfers, his Spanish team-mate has quietly and efficiently blinked on the radar of late thanks to some outstanding home form. Two goals in his last two Emirates encounters, with maximum bonus thrown in, bodes well for Arteta. He has also amassed his most impressive performances stats over the past four Gameweeks – our members can dip and see for themselves how he compares to the field right now. In a nutshell, then, Arteta is in his best form of the season, just in time for luckless Wigan to arrive in his backyard.

The smart money will be on Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott to help themselves to further attacking returns but playmaker Arteta, with just 4.8% ownership, looks an ideal option for those seeking something a little different, with form to back it up.

I think it'll be over the FPL average but under the average on here.

Keeper is great at home but they have been off form recently
Evans is almost guaranteed a cleanie, Turner and McAuley could easily concede though.
      Good midfield.
You have to hope RVP has a stormer. Can't see Odemwingie doing anything though.

Just to avoid panic tomorrow: is the general consensus that it's not worth taking hit to field 11th player tomorrow?
I have 11 starting but this includes Yaya and Turner. City play the early afternoon game, if the news is that Yaya is not starting, should I take a hit to swap him for Sess or Walcott?

I'm wondering the same thing, I have 10 playing at the moment but am tempted to take a 4 pt hit to swap Suarez for Bendtner. Assumng he plays its worse case a 2 point hit but reasonable chance he'll score 1 or 2 against Wolves....

I dont get the logic of playing 8-9 players this week hoping for the elusive big gains for wk 36.
Shows lack of planning in my book.
A couple of injuries and your plans will be scuppered.
Should play each week as it comes

Yeah and a few injuries and that full double team will be gone. No amount of planning will get you a full GW 36 double team because you don't know who is going to get sent off or injured in the next few weeks. Better to plan for this week and worry about the rest later whilst still keeping half qn eye on future weeks (Yakubu)

but have a bit of a dilemma, am 40 points up in my ML. Wanted to go all out for 11 DGW but am now thinking i should just cover all bases and limp over the line rather than trying to break into top 1k. Big bucks on offer in my ML so have to make a proper plan for it.

GW 36 seems to be obvious choice alright however I would be extremely concerned with my GW 35 team because my 11 (maybe 12) GW34 guys all have far more testing fixtures next week. A wildcard would change all that though

55 transfers and a team value of 116.6m. Blimey.

The logic of playing 11 this week is there are plenty of good fixtures. Get the points in the bag, then spend some of them on DGWers once you have a better idea of form, know who is out of the cup (less rotation prone) and who is injury/suspension free.

id defo get someone in if i was you, not sure what prices you got all your players at so hard to say what i would do but looking at it i'd chance getting a mid/striker in if you can,
it looks as tho its easier for you to get a def but i reckon the points will come from mid/fwds this week.

The casuals play week by week, they will not know about DGW.

Because the teams that win are likely to rest players in DGW as the final is GW37, the ones that lose will play full strength teams in both games as they have no reason to rest players so those players (the likes of Jelavic, Ade, VdV, Mata) will have 2 games, the winning ones might only have 1

Just to reiterate something I posted earlier

Word on the United forums is that Valencia will sit out the Villa game for Nani.

Of course, they have no insider knowledge that I know off, so don't take it as gospel and I personally think Young is more at risk of sitting than Tony, but they're usually pretty good.

I would be certain of this had we won at Wigan. Fergie will really want to play Nani and he is much more effective on the right... It's a really tough one to call because Fergie is a wily one and knows the team he fields without Val should do the business with Val getting a nice rest before two crucial and tough games BUT at the same time we just can't afford to drop points and Valencia has been our best attacking player of late.

            yup don't see

I just think he gives that little bit of class and ingenuity that we're lacking right now, like Tevez did for City

He is accused of lazyness. This is untrue, he is just a really good footballer. Because of this things are effortless for him, and thus he is accused of being lazy

I've never had qualms about his style, though he is easy to sub if things aren't going well. I think Fergie too acknowledges that Berba has his uses but it's best for all parties if he just moves on because there's no way his wages or his own time would be justified by his lack of playing time due to such promising youngsters above him in the pecking order.

Team at the moment for GW34:

    Vorm
    Vermaelen Evans Kompany
    Walcott Sigurdsson McClean Valencia
    Van Persie Rooney BLANK
subs - Krul, Kelly, Simpson, Bale, Cisse

No free transfers available unfortunately so any change would be for a 4 point hit (0.9 in the bank). Go with 10 this week and avoid a hit? Planning on Walcott > Dempsey next week and then see where we are after Cup and Champions League semis.

There's more chance of him being at Aintree tomorrow than being required to turn up at SoL

well given that United are at home on Sunday, no reason he can't be at Aintree tomorrow.

Fergie will probably be there as well.

Ok, I've only got 3 defenders with matches this week: Richards/Caulker/Evans,
    4 mids, Valencia/Sig/Walcott/Moses,
and RVP and Rooney up front.

So as long as they all play (pretty worried about Richards) I need a keeper and 1 outfield player in order to field 11 players this week...

I'm thinking of taking an 8pt hit:
    Dempsey > Sess
    R Taylor > Verm
    Krul > Mignolet.

Anyone care to talk me out of it/ suggest alternatives? Thanks

Have taken a gamble on bringing in Taiwo so I can field 9 tomorrow.

Anyone else think it will pay off? 🙂

My bottom five team hopes so. Interesting differential for a main team and not a bad one at that.

Does your mini league rival have Berbatov this week? 😕
