From desperation comes inspiration. If, as Sir Alex intimated, Roberto Mancini’s decision to allow Carlos Tevez back into the fold at Man City really was a last-ditch attempt to revive fortunes, there’s little doubt that it’s had the desired affect. Ferguson will be fidgeting uncomfortably having watched Tevez almost single handedly turn City back into a goal machine in the last two matches, knowing that they’re on a collision course on April 30.

For Fantasy managers, today’s hat-trick, capped with a cheeky assist for the revived Sergio Aguero, offered a stark reminder of the scoring power that Tevez brings. He started the season as a 12.0 player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, having fired 21 goals and six assists last term – Tevez was and still is a Fantasy heavy-hitter.

Norwich felt the full force this afternoon as the Argentine inspired City, having re-ignited Mancini’s side in midweek in the 4-0 win over West Brom. Suddenly, having recently struggled for a cutting edge, particularly away from home, City are a free flowing attacking force once again. Aguero’s brace of goals today were his first league strikes away from the Etihad since that win at Old Trafford. With four in two matches, he’s now firmly back on the radar and could upset what looked like an established front three template of Van Persie/Rooney/Cisse for the remaining Gameweeks.

Arguably Tevez makes a bigger claim for our attention. We took a punt on him over Aguero in the Scout Picks having seen his statistics and form in his recent cameos and knowing his quality home and away. Tevez has come back and, once again, looked like scoring and setting up goals: today that came to fruition.

The Fantasy prospects of both Tevez and Aguero now, ironically, rest with United and the title race. A slip against Villa tomorrow looks unlikely but with City flexing their muscles in such intimidating style, the pressure on United has increased. Realistically, City will go to a beleaguered Wolves next weekend hoping that a stubborn Everton side can recover from today’s FA Cup disappointment and provide an awkward obstacle at Old Trafford. Then it’s all down to the clash at the Etihad that follows.

City need to stay in touch for Fantasy managers to invest with confidence – to sacrifice a double Gameweek transfer for either Tevez or Aguero for the Gameweek 36 trip to Molineux would be a brave move – a break from the best laid plans. However, as today demonstrated, Aguero’s form has moved up a gear and the talent of Tevez looks to have been the catalyst. Together they could yet play a major part in our Fantasy seasons and a title race which appears to be far from over.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Bring on a United CS tomorrow and 12 points. Maybe a De Gea pen save thrown in.

There is no point in getting both, at the end of the day you need the space for some DGW player. Go with one or the other. Tevez is gonna come better in my opinion.

Watching that game today that was never a 6-1 match imo. Norwich totally switched off after the 3rd and started doing some Aids passing and handed 3 more goals to city. With the DGW coming up do you think city will make up the -4 hit + the loss on a potential DGW player?

I cant talk that much I'm only 8k overall. But I play the bandwagons, get the price rises from it and leave wildcarding late on in the season so that expensive in form players can be added to bulk the team and get more points at the end of the season.

Playing the price rises in the first half of the season is key. This is the first season I've focused on that and since Mid season I've been hovering between 8k and 2k.

1)Picking the form players has served me really well this season.

2)Last season I didn't mind a few hits but this season I've only taken 2 and don't plan to take anymore unless 5 players get injured or something.

        3) Build your team value early by making your transfers on monday/tuesday rather than friday/saturday.

        4) Don't post a RMT every 10 mins

        5) Watch as many football games as possible

Bandwagons have worked better this season than last. It's also linked with the more volatile price rises this year meaning one has to pay a lot more attention to them.

I made extreme headway last season by having sneaky picks when others were chasing bandwagons. The likes of Odem, Ba and Nzogbia were under the radar gems last year. You could ignore big names at times for players like that but the pricing this season has been so sharp, you can't do that so much as generally you get what you pay for.

Focusing on fixtures has also not been as effective, following form instead has generally been a winner.

The 6-1 win vs Norwich has been fecking with my head a bit. I have 2FTs. Looking at getting Dempsey or Aguero/Tevez in. If I get both then I gotta spend a few more points to get 2 of Ade/VDV/Kaboul/Baines for DGW.

For next GW currently set up

      Krul (Vorm)
      Evans Turner BAE (Verm McAuley)
      Bale Siggy Valencia Walcott (McClean)
      Papiss (C) RVP(v) Rooney
      2FT 1.8M bank

      Thinking of
      1 - Rooney --->Aguero/Tevez (Adebayor/VDV, Baines/Kaboul and Dempsey/Pienaar in for DGW -4)
      2 - Valencia/Walcott ---->Dempsey (3DGW for -4 in for GW36)
      3 - Sod it and do Rooney + Walcott/Valencia ----> Tevez/Aguero + Dempsey (2 DGW in for -4 in for GW36)

I am 73 behind in one and 60 ahead in other. The one I am behind in I was 120pts behind before my latest run. Hoping to match last year rank now.

So would you say sod it and do 3 and see what takes fancy for DGW then? A -4 or -8 wont make too much difference in my mini leagues either way.

But it won't be, will it? You'll likely make extra trades for 36 as well. That means maybe 20 points in trades.

That might payoff, what with the doubles. But with 5 weeks left, the double, and the modest difference between you two ... I'd tell you to be conservative, at least for this week.

*Note: I traded Santon two weeks ago - the week he started - because he was 'useless'

I have 2FTs atm, If i use both of them then I wont be taking more than a -8 for DGW. I dont think that is excessive if I am trying to chase 60 odd points.

The rival I am chasing has forgot to change his team. He has 8 players this GW including Gibbs, Jarvis and Britton. That 60pts could easily become 40 if my remaining 6 players do well. Surely if he flops this week some of the moves above could do something for me. Or am I being too impatient..

Just watched the Man City highlights. Here are some points I gathered re: the Tevez vs Aguero discussions:

      - Aguero played an average position that was further forward
      - Aguero had more chances on goal
      - Aguero had more time on the pitch
      - Tevez's passing vision was better (better assist potential)
      - Aguero's finishing appeared to be more clinical
      - Tevez was a better poacher
      - Aguero looks like he is really hitting form with his running/finishing
      - Tevez looks like he is out to prove something

      some other facts:
      - Aguero is owned by more FF players
      - Aguero is 2nd choice penalty taker (after Balotelli)
      - Aguero is cheaper by 0.7mil (irrelevant if you only wanted either player GW35)
      - Aguero has more transfers (knee jerking)
      - Aguero has a history of poor away form until recently.

Decision: I'm going to select Aguero this GW against Wolves. Probably captain him too.

I hear you, but perhaps Tevez won't need that much time to outscore Aguero.

Meh, all this prognosticating ... they're so close that's it's an actual toss-up between the two. As long as you have either I don't see much in it.

City strikers throw a spanner in the works at the most inconvenient time, why don't City die and give up on the title. Ideally it would be better for United and City to lose interest in the title race as United should have had it all sown up had they not lost to Wigan. Had this been the case it means we could have sold United players for DGWers and continue to ignore City players. Everything would be perfect for our DGW36 plans. So then, what are people going to do now?

I have the same front line as you. Nearly sold Ade for Tevez before the deadline but now I'm stuck with Ade for the DGW. I want Cisse more than Tevez though so will likely downgrade Rooney for him. Cisse had a DGW so why would it be better to get Tevez instead?

Missed MOTD and there's no repeat in the morning AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!

On a separate issue, what are Enrique owners doing?
It looks like he's no longer first choice which might make him more likely to play the DW fixtures if that makes sense, especially the easier 2nd one (Fulham (h)). However if 'pool are putting out B teams he's unlikely to keep a clean sheet anyway.
      For GW36, bench, play, sell?

Rooney out for Tevez. Purely on form. Rooney playing deep, scoring the odd penalty. Tevez ripping it up against a pretty decent Norwich. Tevez up against the worst side in the league next week. Rooney up against the side with the best defensive form.

If you are chasing, basically you need a differential. So if Tevez is differential in your league, then get him.

Players such as HBA, VDV, Pienaar, Ade. They are all subtle differentials that can make a difference. I'd rather get an extra one of those than get a potential rotation threat, that is Tevez. Chances are some of your rivals might get Tevez anyway so you'd lose that differential

So most people here are going for Tevez over Aguero. Not sure why, they both played brilliantly today. I assume it's because Tevez got 3 and Aguero only got 2 but then again, Tevez's third was a gift from a bad backpass and Aguero smacked the inside of the post.

I reckon theyre both great shouts but as an Aguero owner myself, he's gone next week. Man Utd followed by Newcastle away doesn't sound too appealing.

I'm wildcarding. So likely to have RVP and two dgw forwards.

I'd love to bring one of them in, but I don't know about two of their last three fixtures. Remember this was glory against Norwich who have been fairly mediocre defensively all season. I'm not ready to ship off RVP with his remaining fixtures. Rooney seems fair odds to produce fairly well. I've got Cisse coming in. Just don't see where I fit one of them in. Guess I'll have to live with the loss.

      Too knee-jerky?

GW35: Rooney -> Kun (unless Rooney scores big today)
GW36: Kompany, Turner, Valencia & Sess -> Baines, Kaboul, Bale & Barfa (8 point hit)

      Migs, Bogdan
      Kompany, JEvans, Skrtel, Caulker, Turner
      Dempsey, Walcott, Valencia, Sess, Siggy
      RVP, Rooney, P Cisse
      Bank 0.6m, 2 free transfers

GW36. I wouldn't get in two defenders for an 8 point hit

I suppose. Would mean leaving out Kaboul though, and he and Spurs have good GW37/38 fixtures too.

Anyone think Chelsea will play a weakened side vs Arsenal, with UCL and FA Cup (should they beat Spurs)?

No chance. They surely know their chances of winning the CL are slim to none and getting into the CL next season is far more important than the FA Cup. I'd say they'll field strong sides for all.

What are the prizes for FA Cup? Is it CL or EL?

Definitely not CL! Thought it was EL, but was that Carling cup?

Could just be genius in motion you know. If Mancini manages to win the title insisting his side is out of the title race right up to the final fixture 😀

How'd everyone else do yesterday? Despite no MCY attacking points, 35 points (pre BPs) from my 6 seems decent. Hopefully JEvans, Walcott, Valencia, Rooney & RVP(c) do the business today and push me into the top 1k!

Very similar- 27 from 4 with same 5 and (c) as you plus Sagna to play. You've had a monumental run in the last 9 weeks storming effort that all those consecutive green arrows are sweet!

Rooney out for Tevez or Aguero in GW 35 (if at all) for a 4 point hit?

I think that could be a good choice, but you should look at how Rooney does today first. And do people think Aguero/Tevez better choice?
