From desperation comes inspiration. If, as Sir Alex intimated, Roberto Mancini’s decision to allow Carlos Tevez back into the fold at Man City really was a last-ditch attempt to revive fortunes, there’s little doubt that it’s had the desired affect. Ferguson will be fidgeting uncomfortably having watched Tevez almost single handedly turn City back into a goal machine in the last two matches, knowing that they’re on a collision course on April 30.

For Fantasy managers, today’s hat-trick, capped with a cheeky assist for the revived Sergio Aguero, offered a stark reminder of the scoring power that Tevez brings. He started the season as a 12.0 player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, having fired 21 goals and six assists last term – Tevez was and still is a Fantasy heavy-hitter.

Norwich felt the full force this afternoon as the Argentine inspired City, having re-ignited Mancini’s side in midweek in the 4-0 win over West Brom. Suddenly, having recently struggled for a cutting edge, particularly away from home, City are a free flowing attacking force once again. Aguero’s brace of goals today were his first league strikes away from the Etihad since that win at Old Trafford. With four in two matches, he’s now firmly back on the radar and could upset what looked like an established front three template of Van Persie/Rooney/Cisse for the remaining Gameweeks.

Arguably Tevez makes a bigger claim for our attention. We took a punt on him over Aguero in the Scout Picks having seen his statistics and form in his recent cameos and knowing his quality home and away. Tevez has come back and, once again, looked like scoring and setting up goals: today that came to fruition.

The Fantasy prospects of both Tevez and Aguero now, ironically, rest with United and the title race. A slip against Villa tomorrow looks unlikely but with City flexing their muscles in such intimidating style, the pressure on United has increased. Realistically, City will go to a beleaguered Wolves next weekend hoping that a stubborn Everton side can recover from today’s FA Cup disappointment and provide an awkward obstacle at Old Trafford. Then it’s all down to the clash at the Etihad that follows.

City need to stay in touch for Fantasy managers to invest with confidence – to sacrifice a double Gameweek transfer for either Tevez or Aguero for the Gameweek 36 trip to Molineux would be a brave move – a break from the best laid plans. However, as today demonstrated, Aguero’s form has moved up a gear and the talent of Tevez looks to have been the catalyst. Together they could yet play a major part in our Fantasy seasons and a title race which appears to be far from over.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Don't make any sudden moves if they aren't needed.

Rooney RVP Cisse is a superb front 3.

I see a City striker as a one week punt and waste of transfer that could be used for a DGW player, although if you Captain him it may be worth the sacrifice of a transfer?

The biggest obstacle to getting in Tevez or Aguero is the DGW. I'm devoting all transfers between now and DGW 36 to bringing in DGWers, planning on having 9 DGWers (1 hit). There's just no transfers left to accommodate anything else.

      Plus 1

May draft Jelavic in this week and bench him so I can swap Sess out for Clint and keep Theo

(I have 2 Fts), no other option looks good to free up funds

Plus most of my transfers for the rest of the season are being funded by the Rooney money.

Could play Jelavic at OT to cover any potential United CS fail though ❓

You got to like the look of Tevez v Wolves though relative to Rooney v Everton. Even enough to justify a hit. With Everton putting so many in midfield you have to wonder if SAF will drop Rooney deep AGAIN. And maybe City will like the next fixture too 😉

This comment from the guardian website...

"31 min: It'd be interesting to hear what Manchester City fans - the more sane, intelligent and thoughtful ones, rather than the mouth-foaming, one-eyed halfwits whose opinions count for nothing - make of Carlos Tevez's return to the team.
Having returned from his tantrum and the ensuing five-month holiday, he's now showing them what they've been missing and all the evidence available suggests they could well be clear in the title race if he hadn't chucked his rattle from the pram in a parabolic arc after being asked to warm up twice in a Champions League match.
Personally, if I was a City fan, I wouldn't want a player who treated fans with such contempt to play for my team ever again, but I've previously been monstered by morons for suggesting as much on Twitter. But the fact of the matter is, I'd prefer if my club failed in its tilt at the title without a treacherous little scrote like him in the side than win it with him contributing goals after his five-month mid-season golf outing."

But should I start him this weekend? Means I have to bench either Valencia, Sess, Sigg or Walcott.. He might just get 3 points if he starts one of the games and comes as a sub in another..

Just had a random football thought... how good was Man United's front 3 a few seasons ago.

    Ronaldo Rooney Tevez

That was surely as good as Barcelona's attack at the time.

    Resteady 😛

ok time to move on to next week. Given I only get 10 out this week, not much I can do, what happens, happens.

    My current team for GW35

    De Gea

    Verm, Evans, Kolarov, Santon

    Bale, Siggy, Walcott

    Cisse, Rooney, RvP

    Mingolet, Caulker, Sess, McClean

    2FTs, 1.1 in the bank

am thinking of starting my DGW prep by swapping Rooney and Sess for Dempsey and Jelavic, and playing 4-4-2 this week. Need to free up the funds do Sess to Clint this week (was gonna dump Theo but form dictates Theo stays, plus I'd rather have him over sess after DGW, saves me a trasnfer trying to get him back). Don't want to shift Rooney ahead of a home game but i do see any other option.

    Tempted to do

    Valencia > Dempsey
    Rooney > Aguero(C) - 4

Only problem is it would cost another -4 for a DGW player with the wasted transfer.
