Carlos Tevez takes the title race and the Gameweek by the scruff of the neck with a stunning display in City’s merciless mauling of Norwich. United duly picked up the gauntlet, however, with a four-goal drubbing of Villa this afternoon.

Our Members can lose themselves in the statistics from all of the Gameweek’s matches so far – here’s our pick of the key numbers, together with our thoughts on the destination of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Morning deadzone!!

AARRRGGGHHHHH!!!! So close! Was hoping for myself and Mrs China Mag to break the 10,000 barrier this week. I managed it with some to spare (9,091), but Mrs China Mag missed out by 9 spaces (10,009)!! Neither have captained RVP though, so hoping for no more than one goal (and hopefully points for Walcott and Big Verm) so we can consolidate our position!

That's a tough one. Barfa has the better fixture this week + form (for player and team), bale has a better double and following fixtures. I will have both. Sorry can't be more help!

I don't think that I can avoid getting in tevez or aguero this week. Even if it means going in with one less DGW player. My rival has his wild card, which he will no doubt pull out in GW36, which means he will be able to take a one week punt this week. Surely that will be for one of the city lads? It would be too much of a risk to go in without.

I'm thinking that i will probably go aguero, and mrs china mag tevez (she is now chasing), then i will see who looks the best option and keep him for the Man utd game (and probably the season) and bring in a DGW forward for the other (probably ade or jelavic). Going on most of the games between the top sides this year, I'm predicting GOALS in the derby, so won't mind having a city forward for that game.

These moves are helped by the fact that rooney was absolute turd last night.

Is my thinking sound? Or should I not worry about my rival, and just play my game (in which case I would still be 50:50 over getting a city forward in!)

Rooney doesn't have a very good record against his former team, Everton. Might as well just ship him out and take a punt on Tevez if you're looking to chase points in your league.

Only 10 points behind so don't need to go crazy. I've just checked and bar some crazy price changes over the next few days I can still afford the team I want for 36 even if I wait.

Therefore I think I'll just hold off to give me some thinking time, and you never know, RVP might get injured...

When we played Man City away, a half fit barfa ripped them apart. I will be playing him in that game.

I was more confident of this when it looked like the title race was going to be over be then, but I still think its fine now. In fact, it might be better for Barfa as city will be more open looking to score.

Am I right in thinking that if city win the derby (looking likely on the current form of both sides) and both teams win all their other games, the title will still go down to the last game? If so, then I wouldn't mind holding whichever city striker that I buy until the end.

I get that Tevez and Aguero are good options next week but isn't anyone worried Dzeko will start? They don't need Aguero and Tevez both for that match. Mancini will want to keep Dzeko sharp and ready should he need him through later injuries or suspensions, particularly with him declaring that Balotelli won't play for them again this season.
I think it's a risk personally, I could see all 3 strikers sharing pitch time but which 2 will start is a bit of a shot in the dark. And i think there'll be some very disappointed managers here 😉

Does that not answer your earlier question? If you are worried that one will get rested, get in tevez for a one week punt so that one will definitely play for you!! I personally think that he will play his strongest team from here on in. Mancini has been getting LOTS of criticism and I see him wanting to take it out on the rest of the league!

Yup it does, i was fishing for opinions earlier. But I do believe there's a 40 or 50% chance Dzeko will start, what better time than against the EPL whipping boys.
Mancini stated a few days ago he still reckons Tevez is a bit off proper fitness, so whether that means he'll play an hour and get subbed off or come on in the last 30 minutes to keep extra in the tank for United is the question really.

Yeah sometimes you do feel that. Had I not missed out on 40 odd points of McC/Siggy on my bench, I'd be in the top 300 by now.

This is a cruel game. Whilst you think you're so close to the top, there are others who think the same. In the higher bracket, you will find that it becomes very difficult to get a huge jump in ranking suddenly. There is hope, however.

Could do with a hand regarding which transfer is best

    A) Valencia > Dempsey (Surman on the bench)
    B) Rooney, Surman > Cisse, Dempsey -4pts (massive bench headache)

    RVP, Rooney, Ade

In my opinion, a bench problem is a good problem to have. Not a burden. It doesn't really matter how many points you have on your bench, its how many points you get from the players that play that matter. I think that dave will score more than 4 pts more than rooney over the next two game weeks, so its a no brainer for me.

The thing is I can do it over two weeks instead of 1 saving the hit. So who will score more points
assuming I choose to bench Valencia if I did B)

        Rooney(EVE) or Cisse(STO) -4pts.

I suppose I should also take into consideration the extra DGWer I would get with the FT for GW36

Dave I reckon. Rooney looked awful again yesterday. And everton's defence is(normally) really tight. People say that they have nothing to play for, but I think that finishing ahead of liverpool should be motivation enough.

And having the extra ft for GW36 is key to the decision

Would depend of the player and the state of my current squad. Maybe for the likes of Bale/Mata/Cisse if you were sure they would play both games as the upside is potentially very high but not for someone like (Insert any bolton player here) who might easily get outscored by SGW players with good fixtures.

Bar the controversial Mata goal, it was a vintage performance by Drogba & co.
Very enriching to see the likes of Drog & Lamps put in special performances on an occasion such as this. Gives us some hope and confidence against Barca. Mata & Ramires were immense as well. Last night was probably the first time our front 4 all had a good game.

I really wouldn't blame the Totty defence. Drogba is bloody difficult to control when he's at his vintage best. Yesterday, we could see glimpses of it.

Little help please guys. Current team is:

    Krul / Sorenson
    Taiwo / Sagna / Jevans / Baines / Caulker
    Valencia / Siggy / Sess / Walcott / HBA
    RVP / Rooney / Cisse

Got 2m in the bank and 2 FT's

    Thinking these Transfers this week

    Sess > Dempsey
    Walcott > Bale
    Rooney > Tevez

4 pt hit but I think Tevez will bring in a haul an I'll captain him.

Dbl GW transfers all being well would be:

    Tevez > Ade/Jellyfish
    Taiwo > BAE

    Another 4 pt hit.

That would give me 8 dbl players.

Any thoughts chaps, sound reasonable or do you think I have better options?

    Thanks.

hmmm I don't get plans like this at all. You realise that in doing this move you are expecting Tevez to outscore Rooney while starting with a -8 deficit in a single GW??? You think he will bang another hatty while Rooney just sits on his hands next week? If you just like taking hits for the sake of it then yeah this is a good move to make.

        Where's the -8pt hit. Overall it's a 8pt hit for two GW's.

With regards Rooney, he's up against a fairly solid Everton defence and he is yet to perform against his old club. Judging by his performance last night, yes he scored twice but overall he was rubbish. I just can't see him doing that much against his beloved Everton.

Anyone else reckon Utd will only draw or marginally defeat a usually solid on the road Everton? And City will smash Wolves?

Based on that, Rooney > Tevez (for a hit) looks justifiable, right?

It's either a gamble gone very bad (playing ex-Chelsea players will increase our work-rate sort of deal), or something which I cannot explain.

Shocked at the selection of a couple of players. (King's form has been woeful, and Cudicini is simply a short goalie with limited range - i.e. Lampard's free-kick).

Its a shame to be out, but I just have a feeling this might be a blessing in disguise.

It might be but your confidence is down with the dogs at the moment. I don't think you can be even be sure of a home win from here on.

Cudicini???? seriously 'arry, you play your best keeper for possibly the most impt games of the season. what is he saving friedel for? qpr, bol, BLA. Horrible! Cudicini's the worst possible back-up keeper you can have as well.

It's all been happening after the England managerial travesty started.

Frankly, any manager in a top club and with an ounce of self-respect should not put himself through the dire misery that it is managing England.

If you win, its "just as expected" and if you lose, you are on the front-pages photoshopped as a turnip. Or worse.

Managers flee from national jobs like Scotland and Northern Ireland to join the BPL, but for some reason the England job is a Spanish fly (Im sure there is a pun here?) for any manager.

Be that as it may, for sheer professionalism's sake Redknapp should have answered "I am not becoming England manager. Nothing more to say" - even if he would listen to offers.

I think Mancini would be mad not to lead with his stingray front line for the rest of the season. In my eyes that's Kun and Pacino. Al didn't look short of fitness as he fired in his hat-trick.

We all know Mancini and his rotation policy but I jus can't see Dzeko getting a look in after those performances.

Nope. Man U gonna beat a deflated Everton who have nothing to play for. When people say 'hits' I'm not sure they actually really understand they really take the points from you. If Tevez scores 2 vs Wolves all Rooney would have to do is score 1 vs Everton at home to make this move a wash. Thats not even taking into account that this transfer coulda gone on bringing in more DGW players rather than kneejerking in Tevez for the LOLs. If you are chasing someone and they have Rooney in their team and you need a differential then thats another story.

    Aguero vs. Tevez Debate:

    Aguero: 4g 2a in last 2

    Tevez: 4g 1a in last 2

Both looked lively in the past 2 matches, but Aguero is on pens. Have also scored similar points, so why are so many people favoring Tevez over Aguero atm? Would love to hear some people's opinions on this matter as I am looking to do the common transfer of Rooney ->Tevez/Aguero.

Please try to expand a bit, and not give one-worded or one sentence answers. Cheers.

Can't really explain it. My gut tells me that IF tevez plays (which i think that he will), he has the potential for bigger scores than aguero. That's just my guy mind, nothing really to back it up. Tevez better away from home maybe? If I was chasing, i'd go tevez. Playing safe would go aguero. Mrs China Mag is now the chaser, hence she will be going tevez, and me aguero!

      1) Tevez is a massive differential with huge upside potential.
      2) Might be on penos/FKs as well. He's just too good a spot-kick taker, imo.
      3) Selfish interest/motivation for Tevez, apart from Mancini's push for the title.
      4) Partly, Aguero's away troubles in the past.

I think that mancini will be really looking to inflict some damage on the premier league, after all of the criticism that he has received. I fear for wolves. And would fear for my team if I didn't get one of the city forwards, as no doubt my rival will for a one week pre wild card punt.

The decision is a little easier for me because i will probably go for one city forward, and Mrs China Mag the other!!

Neither of us captained RVP though, so hoping for no more than one goal from him today. But i have walcott, and she has big verm, so hopefully they can help balance out somewhat a big haul from rvp.

Looks good to me. But how do you choose between tevez and aguero?

In my opinion, there is more potential upside in having a city forward for (wol, MUN) than rooney (EVE) to a DGW player.

ie i will be happy going in with 6 DGW players, and a city forward. So the tevez/ aguero won't cost a hit.

We've see Ade flop so often in 'good fixtures' though. He has been subbed off early a couple times recently which pretty much never happened in the first half of the season and it might just be a matter of time before harry starts him on the bench just to change things up and get outta this losing funk they are in. I still think there is value there for the fixtures and a DGW but i'm not to excited about having him in my team again.

To re-open the diving debate, I really don't understand why players are not punished after the games for blatant dives, or even over exaggeration when fouled.

Is there anything in the rules that says you can't dive, or try to con the ref? If there isn't there should be. If there is, surely they can have a panel that reviews the games, and if they adjudge that a player has made a meal of a challenge, then they can ban him. They could leave borderline decisions alone, but where it is as blatant as young yesterday, it would be easy to do. The one that always sticks in my head is the bilic one in the world cup semi final, where blanc pushes him in the chest, and he goes down clutching his face and rolling over. What reason do the powers that be have for not banning the player for incidents like this? I really don't get it. There must be a reason. Anyone?

Sorry. Maybe my post wasn't clear. Whether he was clipped or not is not my point. Whether it was a penalty or not is not my point. What is clear, is that the clip (or not), did not cause him to leap 10 feet in the air and do a back flip. We should be able to ban players for making a meal out of a challenge. For example perch against liverpool. It was a definite red card offence by reina. But perch should also have been banned for his reaction.

Unless it's an aggressive play, I don't see why "dives" should be punished. It was the ref's call and what was done was done, although I'm sure the diver loses brownie points with a lot of people anyways..personally, I think football should adopt 'play reviews', challenges on the call...it takes like two minutes and it could be the difference between a shitty call that sours the game to making the just call and letting fair play continue...and if the challengers lose the play revision they have to play with 10 men for 2 minutes 😀

I get what you are saying about dives being "part of the game", I just think it is unfair on the referees. They have a hard enough job as it is without the players trying to con them.

I presume what you are referring to as "play reviews" is bringing in video replays? For me that is an absolute must.

If video replays could somehow come in without totally killing the flow of the game I might be for it but I'm not really interested in the turning football into some bastardised version of the NFL. Before you know it will have to sit through ads every other minute.

A fair point, but how many times do players rolling around and making a scene ruin the flow of the game as well? I would honestly rather sit through a play review for two minutes than wait for Dani Alves to finish howling while rolling around the ground, get put on the stretcher, get carried off the pitch only to come back on....Doubt ads will be popping up buddy. Even if they do, whatever, it's two minutes....geeebus. Must be a cultural thing 😉

FIFA don't want games reviewed by panels except for violent conduct. They are slow with tech and are retarded . If the refs see a dive they are suppose to give yellow cards and thats basically only real deterrence against it.

      What about the Subotic incident?

Recap: 1st(Dortmund) vs 2nd(Munich) in what was a season changer for both teams. Dortmund went up 1-0 and conceded a penalty in the 90th, which was a suspected dive. Robben then went on to miss the PK, and afterwords Subotic, who thought Robben initially dove, ran into his face screaming. I think that Subotic's reaction should merit a card, regardless if Robben dove or not. Sorry this was somewhat off topic.

Sorry acqua. I can't agree with you on this one. Seems like an acceptable reaction to me (just about), if robben did actually dive! Respect to robben for not going down and faking a head but though, could have definitely got the guy sent off!

A little over the top by Subotic, coming face to face basically touching foreheads. Like you said, if Robben was a D!ck he wouldve faked a headbutt.

Not chasing points or leads (#1 in all mini leagues, 9k overall 😉 ) so no Aguero/Tevez 1 week punts for me...Holding off to do Rooney> Adebayor, Valencia>Mata, Mclean> Bale gw 36....the problem is it will leave me with this team:

    Vorm/Migno

    Simpson Evans Sagna BAE Caulker

    Mata Dempsey Bale Siggy Walcott

    RVP Ade Cisse

    Who to play?! 😀

i think it's way too risky (wasting a FT on tevez/kun) if you don't have enough DGW-ers already. seeing that you're sitting pretty, you might fancy sticking to your initial plan and hope the pig does the trick for you this week.

Am I right in thinking that if city win the derby (looking likely on the current form of both sides) and both teams win all their other games, the title will still go down to the last game? If so, then I wouldn’t mind holding whichever city striker that I buy until the end.

My current plan is for me to get aguero, and Mrs China Mag to get tevez (riskier pick as she is now chasing :)). Then I will see who looks better against Wolves, and leave them in for the end of the season, and transfer the other out for adebayor (or jelavic). Sound plan?

Looking ahead to wildcard next week i'm thinking

    Friedel, Bogdan
    Baines, Simpson, Kelly (Vermaelen, Evans)
    Dempsey, Bale, Gylfi £8.4m (Valencia)
    Adebayor, Cisse, RVP

Definitely keeping and benching Vermaelen and Evans for their remaining 2 games. Same with Valencia probably.
Fairly set on all of it except Kelly, Simpson and that final midfield spot.
Don't want 3 Newcastle players because of their last 2 gameweeks.

Suggestions? maybe ditch Simpson for Huth and opt for Cisse and Barfa as the 2 Newcastle.
Or keep it as is and go for Pienaar and a healthy bank balance.

I think your bench is way too expensive mate. Let go off Val & Verm, even consider benching RVP and look at the options that open up, playing 3-5-2 or 4-4-2.

Cech over Friedel. Monitor the Luiz injury, cos a long-term one (hopefully not!) that could mean Cahill is a no-brainer. Mata over Dempsey for me. You just need Chelsea coverage imo. The fixtures are too good to ignore. Pienaar & Barfa for your remaining two mids.

      I like the front-line.

My two cents for what its worth.

Besides Cech I just don't see anyone guaranteed to start both matches for Chelsea. They've just played 3 games in the space of a week. They have Barcelona twice between now and GW36 and the FA Cup final hanging over them 3 days after the Dgw. Like you say Cahill will become an option but only if Luiz is seriously injured. Ivanovich being suspended until May means apart from Barcelona matches he'll be fresh and almost certainly start the second of their double. Whether this will be at centre or rb is anyone's guess. I reckon RDM might even have to bring Ferreira in again at some point.

I know it's an expensive bench but it's also a strong XI for the double - 9 doublers, Gylfi and RVP. More importantly it doesn't compromise the squad for GW37 and 38. Also, the expensive bench really only means I can't afford one player i would like - Cech.

I just don't think you're taking enough advantage of your wildcard with that bench + RVP. But maybe you're right about being a bit conservative though.

I'm even considering dropping RVP for Jellyfish and bringing him back for Ade in gw37.

          Cech Bog
          Cahill Verm Evans Baines Huth
          VDV Bale Barfa Pienaar Sig
          Jellyfish Ade Cisse

I feel terrible enough about cutting Vorm's umbilical. And considering Simpson my last 2 remaining season starters.

Your team looks quality but imo your defence is way too top heavy.
Looking at the fixtures you'd end up playing 5 at the back in GW38 with Evans of all players being the most likely to make way.

Jelavic i'm not so sure about. He doesn't finish matches so you're looking at say, 140, 150 minutes max. Give me 90 RVP minutes before that any day. He's definitely one to monitor next weekend though. Pienaar same thing. I'd have one with Baines but not all 3 I think.
I like the Cech, trying to fit him in myself.

The other thing is and I'm having this problem myself. If you've got Cisse, Barfa and Gylfi then you head into GW37 with 3 of your forward 8 facing the Manc clubs. Doesn't sound too appealing, especially when you're already set on using your freebie to bring RVP back

Okay my mini league rival has definitely done Rooney to Tevez, can tell cos his team value has gone up 0.1 tonight and only those two rose.

Therefore there's pretty much no choice but to get one in, can't afford a massive score at this stage. Slightly worried he has Silva in there too, wish he'd kept that as ample coverage...

Will make my transfer after today's game, RVP with a knock out for 2 weeks wouldn't be terrible news 😉
