With just four weeks of the season left, desperation is starting to kick in. In Wigan’s case, that desperation seems to have spurred them on to go all out and produce their best football of the season, but for many Fantasy managers battling the odds in their own (equally important) leagues, that desperation needs a huge dollop of luck to go with it. A 50 point gap is not unassailable yet, but picking the same players from the same teams just won’t cut it; it’s time to wheel out the previously unthinkable, the outrageously risky and the downright unexpected…

David Dunn

There’s no greater motivator than the threat of relegation, and after watching Wigan and QPR pick up some unexpected points recently, Blackburn will be scrambling to turn around their fortunes in a similar fashion. Norwich rock up to Ewood Park this weekend having already secured their premier league status, and fellow strugglers Wigan visit two weeks later – the feeling is that it is probably now or never for Steve Kean’s men and the likes of Yakubu, Hoilett and David Dunn will all be instrumental if they are to pull off a great escape.

Fantasy football veterans will be more than familiar with Dunn’s frustratingly inconsistent returns. Capable of pulling off a bumper haul if you catch him in a burst of form, the downside is the succession of niggling injuries that seem to plague the 32-year-old. With just four matches remaining, however, Dunn seems to be coming into form at just the right time and at his price of 6.2 and 0.2% ownership, we reckon the tricky midfielder is worth a punt despite the risks.

Tomas Rosicky

Arsenal’s Renaissance man Tomas Rosicky epitomises the recent revival in his club’s fortunes; after spending 20 months out with a tendon problem, it was feared that Rosicky would never return to the same level but the Czech schemer has been back to his glorious best in recent games. As Arsenal’s best player against Wigan, Rosicky would probably have been a shoo-in for this weekend’s tie anyway, but with Mikel Arteta ruled out for the season and Yossi Benayoun ineligible to play against his parent club then he will surely be nailed on for the central role.

Chelsea will arrive at the Emirates just three days after a draining Champions league tie spent chasing the ball around their own half, and despite the recent resurgence under their new manager, Arsenal look like strong favourites to pick up the points. Another eight goal thriller would be a bit much to ask for, but if goals do arrive then Rosicky could prove to be huge differential considering his current price of 5.7, and low ownership of 1.2%.

Stephen Ireland

Villa can perhaps be forgiven their poor form considering their recent opponents, but this week is a huge test – Sunderland and Bolton park up at Villa Park having conceded 14 and 11 goals in their last five away games, and despite Villa recent impotence in front of goal, you have to fancy them to pick up at least a couple across the two games.

As the first name on the City team sheet (and many Fantasy football managers too) during the 08/09 season, Stephen Ireland’s decline has been pretty spectacular, scraping together just 555 minutes of play last season without a single goal or assist. The potential is always there however, and with a regular starting role in his preferred position behind the striker, he looks the pick of the Villa players right now considering his low price of just 5.2.

Any changes recommended to this weeks gang of thieves:

    Krul
    Evans - Caulker - Lescott
    Valencia - Bale - Walcott - Siggy
    Aguero (c) - RVP - Cisse (vc)

    Mignolet - McClean - BAE - Cahill

    Thanks in advance.....

None for starters. I myself have Sess 1st sub and BAE 2nd sub too. I'm wondering if I should move BAE to 1st sub.. Just think, in case Spurs come back in form, BAE might return something and there might be a chance for him to come in if being 1st sub.

Btw, I normally have MF 1st sub too.

McClean to BAE.....I'm doing it next week.

Chelsea will be tired/minds elsewhere, Walcott at home and could tear them a new one. Good fixtures to come.

Sunderland not playing for anything, talk of rotation....

Your front 8 are pretty strong for this week..

Who would you bench if you did McC > Barfa ?

If you really want to double Newcastle this week, I think losing McC is better choice as I don't see Sunderland have anything to play for and might have some rotations too.

Finally did Walcott > Dempsey. Hope captain America will deliver excellent home performance again.. Btw, two dilemma at my GK/DF.

    Schwarzer
    Simpson - Evans - Vermaelen
    Siggy - Bale - Dempsey - Valencia
    RvP - Rooney - Aguero(c)

    Vorm, BAE, Sess., Turner

May I ask for some opinions please?

2: Play BAE and drop others?

    Phewww,

Just made a HUGE decision and transferred out Rooney for Aguero. But do u guys think I've got my starting 11 correct?

    Krul
    Turner Richards Evans
    Ben Arfa Valencia Siggy Dempsey
    Cisse RVP Aguero (C)

    Subs: Vorm, Verma, Sess, Rangel

    What do u guys reckon?

    Hello deadzoners,

I am totally stuck on who to transfer out of RVP and Rooney. There are pros and cons concerning both.

Meanwhile, I also have a bit of trouble deciding who to get in - Aguero or Tevez.

But all in all, I rate the City forwards' form over both of the two former.

So listen to this, taking a hit and getting rid of both and bring in both Aguero AND Tevez, should solve my conundrum right?

I think RVP is captainable this week. Rooney too arguably. Risky to get rid for a one-off game. Even if Aguero/Tevez do well, you effectively need to subtract -4 for an extra transfer at this time of season (assuming you're still wanting dgwers next week).

+1....my ML rivalry is driving my decision making process at the moment and I'm glad of that. Without it I would be going made.

I did Rooney to Aguero as I know he did it and I need to maintain a 50pt lead into the DGW, when he will go transfer-tastic...

United have .. mci, SWA, sun
Arsenal have .. sto, NOR, wba
Spurs have .. BLA/bol, avl, FUL
Newcastle have .. wig/che, MCI, eve

If you don't have to do any trade immediately, how's about hoping Spurs to get back in form this week and we just go (c). Fixture wise, I think (c) will keep your only United attacker, Walcott v Norwich, and Ade with easier dgw fixtures.. Spurs is really the key factor to my decision on DGW.

Not enough money for Surman out - I have pretty much written off that 5th mid position. I am thinking that Rooney & RvP are probably a mistake to remove at this stage (hence not doing the popular Man City player in).

Which probably comes down to McAuley Valencia and Walcott as the most likely transfers out before GW36 starts

Maybe McAuley out is the best, except I would need funds from a 2nd trandfer.

Can't see massive returns from Rooney. In need of a punt, I'd lean Petrov.

Looks fine unless you want to sell Bendy and get involved in the possible City windfall?

      Or bendy to Cisses?

Personally I'd sub Rooney for Tevez. Risky, but could be worth a good crack.
