With Paddy tinkering behind the scenes, we rested the Fantasy Flutter for a week but it returns for the penultimate Gameweek, fresh and ready to perform. Let’s see what our bookmaker buddies have done with some of this week’s Scout Pick selections…

Nikica Jelavichas had been somewhat overshadowed by the extraordinary impact made by Papiss Cisse in the North East but, on Merseyside, they’re in little doubt they’ve got themselves a goalscoring gem in the wily Croatian. Jelavic may have drawn a blank at Stoke on Tuesday but we really don’t think Wolves are ready for this “jelly”: we fancy we’ll see that cheeky assassins grin once more on Sunday. Paddy are offering 9/2 on Jelavic striking and Everton keeping it clean at Molineux – we’ll take that for £3 of our tenner this week.

Clint Dempsey has been kept quiet for the last three matches, perhaps suffering from being shifted from the striker’s role with Pavel Pogrebnyak’s return to fitness. Even so, the American is sure to be a key weapon as Fulham look to extend their flourishing form with a win over an indifferent Sunderland. Dempsey to notch with a clean sheet for the home side is at 11/2 with Paddy and we’ll throw a fiver at that.

With an unassailable lead in our Captain Poll this week, all eyes will be on Robin Van Persie when the Canaries flutter into the Emirates shooting range. Despite the Dutchman dominating our expectations, we’ll also be looking for Thomas Vermaelen to produce, having already registered six goals this term. The big Belgian is at 9/1 for an anytime goal coupled with an Arsenal cleanie. That provides a home for our final £2 stake.

Money Back Specials

Paddy are hitting all the weekends biggest games at the top and bottom of the table with their Money Back Specials. First up, with City looking to edge closer to the title with three points at the Sports Direct Arena, Paddy are offering refunds if there’s late drama. If there is a goal in the last five minutes between Newcastle and City, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles on the match up to a value of £100 per customer. Paddy are offering the exact same deal on the United vs Swansea clash later on Sunday.

Moving to Monday night’s relegation scrap, at the Blackburn vs Wigan tussle, Paddy will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles on the match if there is a red card shown, again, up to a value of £100 per customer.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

What would you do with this mess?

    Krul Vorm
    Verm Turner ShawX SIMPSON EVANS
    Bale Valencia Pienaar Dempsey Siggy
    RVP Jelly Cisse

    1 FT, 4.8 in bank

Just short for Cisse > Rooney so would need to take a hit.

    Thanks in advance. 🙂

    Afternoon not-so-deadzoners

Feels decidedly low-key this week after the frenzy of the last few days. Here's some uber-cool music to make your transfers to:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-xFla9wiXc&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLCC171CE458F05F6F

Team sorted, shopping done, dinner all set. Time for a nice cold one on the balcony before watching RVP put several past Norwich. Have a good one everybody.

    Verm, Walker, Jags
    Demps (vc), Moses, VDV, Pienaar
    RVP(c), Cisse, Jelly
    SUBS: Bogdan, Bale, Huth, Figueroa
Leading my minileague by 24 points, team look good? I know it'd be common sense to bench Moses and play Bale but if I did it would be a waste a transfer (HBA ➡ Moses) and my gut feeling is to play Moses

I think a transfer made on account of two god fixtures is more valuable than a transfer made for a single fixture. And next week will be very unpredictable. But Enrique -> Sagna doesn't sound like one wasting a transfer on at this stage, it has to be said, so saving is good.

I know are not worth it for a hit, especially this time of season but my defence is in tatters.

Defence = shawcross, caulker, JE, Simpson, Evans

Points are precious just 14 points up in ML

This worth it for 4pt hit….

        Hey lightS

I can't afford the Simpson loss for Verm.

Defenders just ain't worth a hit, as probably at realistic best with a cleanie they will only get +2 which as you now ain't no better than appearance points wo your shifting out.

But I could end up with only caulker, JE and shawcross playing here. No gaurantees JE will play after fa cup final....

Yeah, def are generally not worth the hit like you said (and mark said below).

However, realistically you could end up with 0pts from JE, Caulker and Simpson

from that point of view it is tempting to gamble on a def with a CS potential and better than normal attacking returns = Verm

Mathematically, it the risk probably outweighs the gain especially with a 14pt lead, this is clearly a gamble.

for me, my lead is 84pts and the guy behind has taken a -8pt hit making me happy to take this risk.

            Your cool then Lightspeed

In your case I would just part that def for a hit and sort your team out ready for next week. Your ML is safe.

Thought about Marks Kompany swap, and am 0.1 out from

            Simpson > Kompany
            Cisse > Rooney

As opposed to selling Evans. So Evans would have to go...

Getting rid of Rooney for Cisse in order to get Verm for Evans?

I'd walk away and make a cuppa if I were you. For me, the only defender worth taking a hit for would be Kompany as at least he has the QPR home game which looks a gimme cleanie with the chance of a cleanie at Newcastle if City produce a gritty 1-0. Verm is a good one week bet but, if you're taking a hit you need more than that from him. He could concede to both Norwich and West Brom so you're gambling on attacking returns.

        Thanks mark.

I was toying with Kompany, a member of my very short Shortlist with Evra.

So before I make my cuppa (lol), would you be comfy with the Rooney over cisse element?

Based on fixtures, obviously makes sense But cisse is well..... Ripping it up as they say?!

Cisse -> RVP definitely a good move this week? I've been soo close to doing it for ages, but worry it may backfire.

Worth doing McLean to Moses for a hit?

    Team currently:

    Howard
    Evans, Verm, Kompany
    Sig, Valencia, Bale, Dempsey
    RVP, Rooney, Jelly

    Subs: McLean, Terry, Caulker

I would play Terry over Siggy. Mideweek game between Pool and Chelsea will have no significance as both will have nothing to play for. Could easily be a boring 0-0 or a high scoring draw like 3-3 which Terry can score from.

    Morning all,

Just have a quick captain dilemna, some advice would be appreciated. I am 7 points of ML leader. I'm pretty sure he will captain RVP this week as no Rooney. I have both. Thinking wether I should captain RVP and then anything Rooney get is a differential? Or just captain Rooney?

Same situation as me although rival also has Rooney. I posed the question last night and the general consensus was to play save and go for VP with a view for gambling next week. Don't want to undo all seasons good work and lose ground with a week to go.

I dot think the Man. Utd game will be such a goal fest.

Swansea would have been looking forward to going to Old Trafford all season. One of the best experiences in PL. I reckon they will treat as Cup Final and try hold their own!

I need United cover. Currently have none. So is it Valencia or nani?

Picks said Val, so him right? The thing is main rival already has him AND Rooney, so I kinda want Nani for differential. But they're not sure he is playing....

What to do what to do....?
