Sergio Aguero wins the title for City. Emmerson Boyce continues to excel at wing-back for Wigan. Steven Pienaar, Emmanuel Adebayor and Yossi Benayoun finish their loan deals in style, Djibril Cisse maintains his remarkable QPR scoring form, while Wayne Rooney produces his best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season so far as United are beaten at the post:

Sergio Aguero
The overwhelming favourite for the captain’s armband, the Argentine made his Fantasy owners wait until the very last minute before delivering the goal that won the title. There’s little doubt as to how crucial his contribution has been in the last few Gameweeks for City – Aguero has returned six goals, three assists and nine bonus points in his last six appearances. Finishing the season on 23 goals and a total of 211 points, and with attacking returns in all three away games since the return of Carlos Tevez, it’s been an outstanding debut campaign for the former Atletico Madrid man.

Pablo Zabaleta
While Micah Richards started the season in such strong form, the Argentine ended the 2011/12 campaign as Roberto Mancini’s favourite for the right-back position. Zabaleta started every one of City’s last five Gameweeks and vindicated his manager’s faith with the opener in yesterday’s 3-2 thriller. With Champions League football on the agenda once again, though, Mancini’s penchant for rotation at full-back will likely to come into play once again, with Vincent Kompany looking the only certainty once more, despite the impressive contributions of both Zabaleta and Gael Clichy in recent matches.

Djibril Cisse
The January signing was amongst the goals once again as QPR survived the drop despite their late defeat. To say his time at Loftus Road has been eventful is an understatement – Cisse has either scored or been sent off in every one of his eight starts since arriving in January. Luckily for Mark Hughes’ side, six of those games have produced goals, but with two red cards resulting in a total of seven games unavailable through suspension, his absence could have had severe repercussions for his side’s chances of survival. If he can keep his compusure, Cisse is clearly one to consider next time round – with QPR winning their last five at home under Hughes, Loftus Road is proving to be a tricky test for many.

Emmerson Boyce and Jean Beausejour
Boyce continued his recent impressive attacking displays as Wigan picked up their seventh win in nine against relegated Wolves. The right wing-back bagged a double in the 3-2 triumph, taking his returns to three goals, an assist and two clean sheets in the last four. Beausejour maintained his strong form since joining from Birmingham in January – he picked up his third assist in as many matches, taking his total to seven for the season; more than any Wigan player. Given that both play as wing-backs in Roberto Martinez’s 3-4-2-1, their classification next season will be intriguing – Beausejour would be of particular interest if FPL change him from a midfielder to a defender, given his creative contribution.

Franco Di Santo
The Argentine is another player who has picked up in form over the last few Gameweeks. Yesterday’s goal took his tally to three in the last five and, with an assist and five bonus points also thrown in, he’s proven exceptional value recently, given his 4.8 price tag. If Martinez’s men can continue next season in such strong form, Di Santo could well prove a popular cut-price option up front.

Matt Jarvis
Wolves’ left winger is one of the few players who can hold their head high after his performances under interim boss Terry Connor. Jarvis’ opener at the DW means he has scored seven of the 12 goals mustered by the midlands outfit since Mick McCarthy’s sacking after the Gameweek 25 defeat at West Brom. Steven Fletcher also found the net, despite being handed a 16 minute sub appearance by Connor. Two goals and an assist in his last three took the Scot’s goal haul to 12 for the season and, amid rumours he could be snapped up by a Premier League club before the start of next term, is another who could offer potential as a lower priced forward next time round.

Emmanuel Adebayor
A goal and the maximum bonus points saw the on-loan forward end his spell at the Lane in strong form. Adebayor’s last three games in a Spurs shirt produced four goals and seven bonus points for his Fantasy owners, taking his total to 194 – just a single point behind Gareth Bale amongst Harry Redknapp’s squad. Starting the season at 8.0, he’s proven to be a real bargain over the campaign, ending as the fourth top scoring forward – if Daniel Levy can open the purse strings enough to make Adebayor’s move a permanent one, he clearly has plenty to offer Fantasy squads next term.

Steven Pienaar
A goal and a single bonus point brought down the curtain on his return to Merseyside as Everton extended their unbeaten run to nine. David Moyes has already spoken of his desire to bring back the South African on a permanent deal – such a move would be hugely significant for Fantasy managers if Pienaar can maintain his current form. Clearly, his days at Spurs look numbered; he played just 17 minutes in the first 23 Gameweeks under Harry Redknapp but has picked up four goals, seven assists and 12 bonus points in just 14 appearances for the Toffees, averaging 5.7 points per game.

Nikica Jelavic
The Croatian was on the score sheet once again for the Toffees as Newcastle’s Champions League hopes were put to rest. It’s nine goals in just 10 first XI appearances now since moving from Glasgow Rangers back in January and, with 11 bonus points also thrown in, Jelavic has averaged 6.6 points per start – an incredible level of consistency for a 6.3 priced forward. Given that he started at 6.5 in the winter, though, we can expect a price hike when the player lists are announced in a couple of months’ time.

Grant Holt
Yesterday’s goal in the 2-0 stroll over Villa took his tally to 15 for the season. Despite his contribution, Holt has dropped in price, down from 5.5 to 5.1 – Paul Lambert’s rotation policy has frustrated Fantasy managers, with only 24 of his skipper’s 36 appearances coming in a starting role. Holt has been top for overall points, goals and bonus points for the Canaries, though, and, as the second best outfield player in terms of value, has more than proved his capabilities this term.

Jonathan Walters
With no goals since Gameweek 19, few would have betted on Walters finding his form to send Bolton down. A double against the Trotters saw the out of position midfielder clinch top spot as Stoke’s best Fantasy performer, with a total of 140 points bettering Peter Crouch’s contribution by 10 points. Surely to be reclassified as a forward next time round, it’s fair to say that Walters’ appeal will be considerably lessened and, having gone the previous 18 Gameweeks with no assists or bonus points either, few will be rushing to snap up his services for next season.

John Terry
His suspension for the upcoming Champions League Final has been handy for Terry’s Fantasy owners. A goal and a couple of bonus points harvested a 10 point haul – the second time in the last four Gameweeks he has returned double figures. While Chelsea have been far less impressive at the back this season, Terry’s eye for goal has produced six goals – double his tally from the previous campaign. The change is bonus has also been hugely beneficial to the Blues skipper – he had failed to pick up a single point last term but is joint-top with Leighton Baines for defenders, after amassing 18 bonus points this time round.

Wayne Rooney
The United man’s first away goal since Gameweek 27 helped him to his best ever Fantasy campaign yesterday. While Rooney’s Old Trafford form had produced eight goals in his last five home matches, his away displays harvested just a single assist in the four games prior to the Sunderland showdown, as United’s late stumble handed City a lifeline in the title race. With three bonus points also returned, he picked up 230 points, eclipsing his 2009/10 total by just six points – Rooney’s 27 goals was also a personal best but, like United, he finished second best, with Robin Van Persie’s incredible 269 points proving unassailable.

Danny Graham
While Swansea’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool earned Michel Vorm and co their fourteenth clean sheet of the campaign, the former Watford man’s late winner clinched his spot as the top value outfield player this season. Graham dropped as low as 4.7 in price but produced attacking returns for the third successive game at the Liberty, taking his tally to 138 points, with 12 goals, three assists and 16 bonus points also thrown in for good measure. Indeed, of all Brendan Rodgers’ players, only Vorm and Scott Sinclair accrued more points this term and, with Graham likely to be first-choice next time round, his cut-price prospects look promising.

James Morrison
Having returned to action last week with a goal, the Scot continued his form in Roy Hodgson’s final match in charge of West Brom. Morrison provided assists for both the Baggies’ goals to serve a reminder of his potential as a low to mid-price option next season. Starting this term at 5.5, he’s proven to be a decent alternative to Chris Brunt in the West Brom midfield and finished just three points behind the Irishman, with five goals and six assist accrued in his 23 starts.

Robin Van Persie
With Arsenal needing the win to confirm their place in next season’s Champions League, many had handed the Gunners skipper the armband ahead of their Hawthorns trip – little wonder, given that he had produced attacking returns in all five of his previous road trips. While Yossi Benayoun notched his third goal in his last four Gameweeks to end his loan spell on a high, Van Persie mustered just a single assist from his side’s three goals. Laurent Koscielny and Andre Santos also found the net to ensure Van Persie failed to pick up any bonus but, with 30 goals, 13 assists and 45 bonus points, his season has been a spectacular success. Arsene Wenger has promised to hold talks with the Dutchman over a new contract prior to the upcoming Euro 2012 – if he signs, we can surely expect a rise in FPL price, given his heroics; his starting price of 12.0 this term seems almost cheap, given his incredible 269 point haul.

Reposting an idea I suggested this morning for next season’s defences. I doubt anyone will take it up but thought I would give my mad plans some exposure to the good folk on here tonight.

I am thinking of tripling up on the defences of two defensively solid teams and then have one big hitter like Verm or Baines to play every week. This will only be worth a try if there are 2 teams with good CS prospects, cheapish defenders and home/away rotation. It sounds nuts but would have worked very well this season with Newcastle/Swansea.

Given that they will rotate perfectly I was thinking Newcastle and Sunderland but Newcastle might be too expensive and they have Thursday night football. I have now ruled this out because a Newcastle triple in defence means no Cisse.

Of course, it’s very early and fixtures, prices etc are needed but at the moment I’m thinking potential teams are:

Sunderland have been excellent at home defensively since MON took over. Richardson could be fantasy gold if reclassified and if 1st choice (don’t think he has played recently – injured?)

It could just be classic Wigan end of season form but I think the change in formation could see them become far better for clean sheets next season. Their defenders all seem to be getting in on the attacking points recently as well

West Brom have been solid, unclear how a new manager will affect things but I’ve been informed Houghton would keep things tight. Ridgewell and McAuley do reasonably well for goals

Swansea are simply awesome, I hope they can produce the fantasy goods again and prices don’t go too high

With no European distractions I think Stoke will be better for clean sheets next season though I suspect their nailed on defenders may be too expensive. There is also the goal threat, mainly from Huth, to consider.

Promoted teams may also be an option though apart from being aware of Harte taking pens for Reading my knowledge is a bit lacking here. Fulham could be an option as well but I’ve been burned by Kelly this season and Jol favours attacking football so I’m not sure.

Good plan, the problem comes in identifying the cheapish defensively solid teams. Who would have picked Newcastle and Swansea before this season started?

My ususal tactic is to go for the cheapest starting defenders in the teams I think will keep a few cleanies. Again, picking those teams is the problem...

part of the problem is we just don't which teams will be that solid and who the best picks from them will be. Personally I'm looking at getting Harte as he's on set-pieces and Hoovied (think that's his name) from Saints. CB who got 8 goals in Championship this season, seems to ffer a decent goal threat is is likely to be in the 4-4.5 million bracket

We just have to do our best to work it out and hope we make the right calls.

I've heard Harte so much from people on here, but is he actually gonna play??

31 league appearances out of 46 this season, he'll be 35 years old at the end of August.

I'd be going for keeper, Pearce and Gorkss.

Yeah, I wildcarded in GW4 after a bad start and had realised by then that Swansea and Newcastle had decent CS potential. In hindsight a treble on them would have been great but I didn't have that much confidence in them at the time.

I fancy Villa and WBA could be good - Given/Foster, McAuley, Ridgewell, Warnock and perhaps Dunne could work.

Also you mention that Swansea and Newcastle were the best options in hindsight but if you triple thats a bucket load of points missed from Ba, Cisse, Sigurdsson (and to a lesser extent Dyer, Sinclair and HBA)

Ok folks have decided one thing in the Euro fantasy

Ozil is most definitely not worth 10 million. Think I'd rather have Schweinsteiger, he may play deeper but I think he's on pens for Germany. I think it will 2 from him, Lahm or Gomez for me. Dumping Ozil can free up so much cash. I may even go Hutton's way, dump a Polish defender and get Błaszczykowski in, double Polish attack, oh yeah.

        yes IMO

If you are waiting for their fixtures to ease, you'll be waiting a while, look at their group. But they are favourites IMO, so warrant investment from the off for me.

Olsson, Kadlec, Papadopoulos, Iniesta, Ozil, Mandzukic, Shirkov, Sneijder, Lewandowski,Ibrahimovic, Robben etc

    Dejavu reading all of these?

7 or 8 of these should set u in good stead. The rest need to be against the grain of these forums.

For every Mandzukic or Shirkov theres Marchisio, Srna, Dzagoev, Erikson with equally good arguements for selection.

kadlec too is a random punt for a poorish side. kolorov long lost brother.

Spain will pass it about a lot and produce nothing but nonthreatening long range shots as they fail to break down some classic Catenaccio tactics. Nocerino will get brought on and rob a 1-0 win for Italy.

Was just browsing the McDonalds Euro fantasy game. Anyone else think it's a bit of a joke? Both from the game perspective and the players who've created teams already. Lets see...

The second most selected goalkeeper, Denmark's Lindegaard is still injured. There's also the slight problem that he isn't Denmark's #1
Italy's Abate, the third most highly selected defender in the game?? Could be wrong but I don't think he's ever even played a competitive match for Italy and i'm almost certain he isn't first choice.
Martin Olsson, the highest selected defender in the game only made his first start for Sweden a couple months before Christmas.
Sagna (broken leg) is France's second most selected defender 9% 😐
My personal favourite.. Ukraine's Rybka is listed in the game and owned by 3%. Even though he was banned for 2 years a couple months ago 🙂
In fact, NONE of the 3 keepers in the game were among the 4 goalies named in Ukraine's squad.
Ukraines highest selected defender, Chygrynskiy didn't even make Ukraine's 26-man provisional squad.
Smalling is out of the Euros.
The highest selected midfielder in the game Polanski has only ever made 5 appearances for his country.
Ireland have already named their squad. Randolph, Coleman, McCarthy shouldnt be in the game. Forde, McClean, Cox should.
For some very strange reason they haven't included Cassano or Di Natale in Italy's squad..

And that's probably just the tip of the iceberg 🙂

Baffles mee too, but my humble personal opinion is that as they were lacking creativty from the mids than they needed the strikers to be able to create opportunities. And Rooney and Welbeck are great on the ball, whereas Hernandez is a scorer who needs someone to create for him.

As I said just guessing, but it was really hard to watch them this season. The usual counter attacking was off par and they were just trying to find a way through too slowly. It did not suit for hernandez. Im hoping they buy some nice young creative legs to the middle this summer.

Just about any Liverpool player that isn't a defender should drop in price and if Liverpool improve then there will be bargains to be found somewhere there. Adam 9 million, Downing 8.5, Henderson 6.5, Carroll 10 - ludicrous 😛

I reckon Bent might drop in price too and represent decent value if Villa's next manager plays slightly more attacking football

          Gerrard has gone mate.

Since his injuries he hasn't got the legs to get up and down and burst into the box anymore. I expect him to play a lot deeper in the quarterback role, and try to adapt his game like scholes has.

By the way, I don't think he has the class of scholes. But that's just my opinion.

          No doubts others will differ...

He has not been fit for 2 seasons. If he has no more troubles I think he could bounce back. Scholes is one of my favorite players BTW, but a different player, I dont think Gerrard can sit deep.

I don't think Gerrard has the discipline to play deep - its a free role or nothing, he'll have to transform into an impact sub next season IMO, won't be able to manage that many full games up behind the strikers.

His runs from deep into the box and through balls to the stikers are the best parts of his play, while he still has pinpoint passing if he does sit further back, he will not play defensively enough to replace Xabi Alonso

I've come to realise that the commenters on this website are the best resource for literally everything so if you've got anything to add to this, please inform me. I've probably got a few things wrong so don't hesitate to correct me or disprove my opinions. I've decided that I'm gonna go through each team one day at a time so I can actually have a decent go at the fantasy Euros. Here's all my thoughts on Poland typed out 🙂

(I treat GKs and DEF as 'The Defence' and MIDs and FWDs as 'The Attack')

    THE DEFENCE
In group A, Poland will host Greece, Czech Republic and Russia – teams which aren’t exactly brimming with attacking fluidity or goals so investing in a Polish Goalkeeper or Defender would be a very sensible option indeed. The great news is that these defensive assets can be obtained at a very cheap price. The No. 1 Goalkeeper for Poland is Wojciech Szczęsny who played the majority of the friendlies over the past couple of years. He’s nailed on to play all three group matches because of the fantastic form he’s shown for Arsenal which restricted both club and country No.2, Łukasz Fabiański, to the bench for most of the season. Szczęsny is available for 5.0 million and I would certainly recommend getting him in for the group stages especially if you haven’t invested in the Polish defence.

The defenders who will represent the co-hosts in the first 3 games are a little harder to predict. Since Poland’s friendly with Ivory Coast in 2010, the defenders have been prone to much rotation and despite having 17 games, not a single defender got more than 900 minutes of game time. Łukasz Piszczek played 841 minutes in total during that period, more than any other defender and is probably the best defender to choose. The 26 year-old full back has had a great season with Borussia Dortmund, clinching both the German League and Cup. He managed 4 goals and 7 assists during the season too, so don’t be surprised to see attacking returns from this guy in the group matches. At a cost price of 5.0 million, I think this guy could be a real bargain.

If you’re looking for an extremely cheap option, then Tomasz Jodłowiec (cost price of 4.0) might be worth a punt. He’s played a part in 12 of Poland’s last 17 games so further minutes could well be on the cards. I’d pop this fella on the watchlist and decide on him after Poland play their 3 upcoming friendlies. If he’s sure to start against Greece in Gameweek 1, I’d have him on my team in a flash.

    THE ATTACK

Unfortunately for Poland, their recent attacking record isn’t great. Of their last 17 games, they only managed an average of 1.29 goals per game and the fact that 13 of those games were played at home doesn’t help the case. Having said that, there is one Polish striker who is very hard to overlook for this campaign’s fantasy game. Robert Lewandowski has made 46 appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season, scoring 30 goals and getting 10 assists – a magnificent record. His international record isn’t as good (6 goals in 12 appearances since November 2010) but at a price of 8.0 million, he deserves major consideration. If Poland get a few goals in Group A, Lewandowski will more than likely be involved in a lot of them.

Other than Dortmund’s hitman, there isn’t much else to choose from within the Polish attacking ranks. The captain, Jakub Błaszczykowski (a midfielder), takes penalties for the side and is also part of the successful Borussia Dortmund squad (he scored 7 times and got 9 assists this season) but is probably a tad too expensive (he costs 7.5 million) to be a popular choice. Nevertheless, he could prove to be a decent alternative to Lewandowski, especially with spot kick duties under his belt.

If you’re looking for a gigantic differential, then look no further than forward Paweł Brożek. He’s failed at club level in recent years but on the international stage he has a better strike rate than Lewandowski (he scores a goal on average every 79 minutes, compared to Lewandowski’s 149). The man hasn’t even been added to the site yet but has been included in the Polish squad so expect to see his name and cheap price up very soon. I daresay if anything should happen to Lewandowski, Brożek could well be the player to step up to the mantle in front of the home fans.

Thanks Mull! It's all based on statistics because funnily enough I don't have the time to watch every Poland game from the last 2 years. For example, I'll say that the 4 defenders who've played the most minutes are most likely to start but in reality, they could very well be 4 centre backs. Admittedly, that is the downside to what I'm doing. Hopefully the rest of it, especially my thoughts on forwards will prove somewhat useful
