Spain and Italy’s opener proved further disappointment for Fantasy managers earlier this evening. The likes of Andres Iniesta was heavily backed in Day Three’s Captain Poll but failed to produce the goods as the Azzurri’s switch to 3-5-2 saw them capture a draw.

The other two in Spain’s front three, David Silva and Cesc Fabregas, were amongst the points as the City man provided an assist for Cesc’s equaliser, though captaincy owners of the Italy starting front pair will be looking to switch the armband, after Mario Balotelli and Antonio Cassano both drew a blank.

Those who captained Mario Mandzukic will undoubtedly be keeping the armband on the Croatia man after a double in this evening’s win over Republic of Ireland. Fantasy managers who handed Nikica Jelavic the armband may be tempted to roll the dice one last time tomorrow but, with only two of the 12 teams scoring more than once in the opening six games, plenty may decide to stick.

For many, tomorrow now offers another chance to pick up a decent captain points haul. France take their 21 game unbeaten run into the early kick-off against England and, with Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema both in eye-catching form, the pair will find many backers, despite an upturn in English resilience in their two games under Roy Hodgson. Ashley Young comes into contention for their opponents, though doubts remain over whether it’ll be Andy Carroll or Danny Welbeck to lead the line alongside the United man.

Looking at Sweden’s and Ukraine’s form at the back, perhaps the evening game offers the best opportunity. The Swedes have returned a single clean sheet in their last eight, while Oleg Blokhin’s side have kept out the opposition just once in their previous six. Zlatan Ibrahimovic looks a strong bet, then, while Ola Toivonen, Seb Larsson and Kim Kallstrom all offer decent opportunities of picking up the points. For the co-hosts, Andriy Yarmolenko, Yevhen Konoplyanka and Andriy Shevchenko will all be hoping to get their campaign off to a strong start.

I thought the deadline for substitutions was 15 minutes before the start of the first game but it's showing as 18.00 CET today (17.45 tomorrow). So, have we got an extra quarter of an hour to deliberate today?

18:00 CET is for Manager Substitutions after your team has already been selected for that GW...

But tomorrow is start of new GW (GW 2)... So you have to finalise yyour team that will be used for the whole GW by 17:45 CET... Then you can do Manager Substitutions for this team till 18:00 CET on 13,14 and 15 of June,

i guess it depends on the players you want.... Dzagoev, pilar, mandzukic etc. prices are sure to increase so if you plan on taking them take them now and do the other transfers later so that you are least affected by price hikes

So why not get players in before price rise and be on the safe side.

Yes you're wildcarding? Get right on it so but leave all your Group D players in until you see how they do. Could be injured , play poorly or even redcarded but hopefully will get you buckets of points today. You'll get their points regardless if you transfer them now but those doing well will be expensive to transfer back in.

You can do substitutions till 18:00 CET and the lineups will be out at 17:00 CET...

So you will have on hour to check if M Olsson plays or not and then bring him in...

I am confident Ibra will score at least one, so that will also give him 12 points as a captain... But if he scores more than 1 or also assists a goal like he did in the friendlies he will score more than Srna...

The probability is there but it depends on how confident you feel in making the change...

*** I was confident RVP would score and changed from Lewadownski to RVP for Day 2 and RVP failed miserably...

Ah right, and I watched that game too. They all sound similar.

              Ah well, point still stands.

Mandzukic will meet Spain and Italy... I'm doubt if he will have good chance to score.

            Disagree.

Spain are a small team, and this boy looks a handful I the air so I think there I'll be chances.

I also didn't think Spain looked to clever st back yesterday without puyols direction.

Nice but I reckon Gomez is way over-priced. Would downgrade him and change theGreek lad for two other strikers.

        Ibrahimovic, Larsson, Yarmalenko

Terry, nasri (the annoying pr#*#) , Koscielny from the bench, 88th min corner.

        Lotto numbers to follow.....

Do anyone plan not to use WC for MatchDay2 ?

When do you plan to use it?

I'm very likely to activate the WC today and prepare my team for the rest of group stage. Alternative is the final round...

Using it for the Final. Only 4 free transfers for it and a max of 6 per team for the semis. Highly unlikely I'll have even 8 finalists standing after the semis.

I'm assuming 3rd place play will count too?

So don't forget those boys 🙂

No 3rd place in Euros, only World Cup.

Umm... But there is just 1 game in the Final while there are 16 games in Group Stage. Would there be more chances in Group Stage to gain points?

Do people have any 'rules' for changing your captain on Euro 2012 FF?

So, for example, your captain gets you a decent but not great set of returns on the first day and you then have the choice of 'sticking' or 'twisting', how many points is the minimum to cause you to stick? 5? 6?

I know it probably depends on who you have to play and what fixture you have but let's just say you have good options.

I have said this before, but I STILL haven't learnt from my Fantasy World Cup experience.

If your captains does *something* then stick. I should have left it on Lewandoski and now I'm rolling the dice each time and I don't have much hope that Young is going to get me more than 6.

I stuck with Lewandowski and watched RVP score 2, then Madzukic score 13 so I guess I'm thinking 'what if'

From my perspective I watched RVP get 2 point, and Iniesta get 2. So I'm thinking 'Bloody Hell!'.

I guess it's personal preference, but I think that having a captain that scores double something is better than risking a double 2 pointer. My GW is going to be hurt if I don't have a captain that scores something, this was true in the WC game too.

        Morning chaps,

        My team is;

        Isaksson, Given
Perquis, Holebas, Jordi Alba, Strinić, Lescott
        Young, Schweinsteiger, Andrews, Iniesta, Eriksen
        Van Persie, T. Müller, Lewandowski

Not sure I want to pop my WC despite a very ordinary first match day. So was thinking Eriksen --> Mandy as my FT, what do you think? More pressing change needed?
