We’ve been spoiled so far this summer. After 12 consecutive days of football which have harvested 24 games, Euro 2012 is taking a rare day off tomorrow before the knockout stages begin on Thursday evening at 7.45pm. As Group A winners Czech Republic ready themselves to take on Portugal in the first of the quarter finals, we’ve rolled out the Captain Poll for you to have your say:

Michal Bilek’s side arrive in strong form for Thursday’s game. Written off by many after a 4-1 opening day defeat to Russia, back-to-back wins propelled them to the top of Group A, with Vaclav Pilar and Petr Jiracek the main protagonists. Between them, the midfielders have scored all of their nation’s goals, notching a couple apiece, and look the main threat to Paulo Bento’s favourites. Michal Kadlec’s penalty duties and Milan Baros’ role as the lone forward means they cannot be overlooked, while the creativity of Tomas Rosicky (if fit) and Jaroslav Plasil is likely to provide their team mates with opportunities against a defence that conceded in all of their group games.

Cristiano Ronaldo looks almost certain to be the main man for a Portugal side that has also won the last two games. After a poor couple of performances, the Real Madrid man exploded into form against Holland, scoring twice and hitting the woodwork on a couple of occasions. Nani has provided an assist in each of the last two matches and has been somewhat unlucky not to find the net thus far, Helder Postiga’s guaranteed starting role has already seen him notch once, while Pepe’s threat from the back has seen him accrue 13 points, just one less than Ronaldo in the group stages.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Alright guys, how's this team looking?

    Neuer, Lastuvka
    Hummels, Boateng, Alba, Barzagli, Limbersky
Pirlo, Gerard, Pilar, Busquet, Fortounis/Makos (depending on who is more likely to start)
    Gomez, CR7, Nani (?)

No idea on the last striker spot with 9.4 in bank. :/

You could try 1 thing, sacrifice 1.0 on the striker and get Petr Cech instead of Lastuvka, then you can at least have 2 shots at a clean sheet.

Khedira, Busquets, Pilar, Pirlo, T. Motta

Not heavy enough on D. At least not heavy where it counts. You've got to double up if you're getting expensive defenders at this stage. 3 German or 3 Spanish or something like that.

    Morning lads,

    Question about the EPL schedule.

I am planning a trip to London england this fall to see some friends and attend a few EPL matches (and check off a big void on my "bucket list" . When to they announce the actual dates and times of the matches? I am going to plan a week when i could possibly see 3 matches in a weekend.

Not sure exactly when, but it depends on which games are televised.

May I suggest also catching a lower league game? Like AFC Wimbledon

    Morning lads,

After the excitement the comedown. Last night after both games (~10.10pm) when I checked my overall rank it was #7, putting me into the knockout cup. I wake up this morning and double-check, and it's fallen to #10 and I'm out. (http://en.euro2012fantasy.uefa.com/entry/148942/history/) I don't know why this has happened - my points are the same - I guess someone else's points must have changed.

So near and yet so far. Would be nice to know why it happened of course, but I feel lucky enough to get so close anyway.

    Will continue fighting.

That is a pretty big accomplishment Isacki. Way to go!!! You still have a chance at winning the whole thing. Look at it on the bright side, now you can concentrate on building your best score rather than making decisions based on what your rival is doing.

I am rooting for you and following your progress. Would be great if a FFS regular could win the overal championship!

yeahh i saw. only thing is the rules say: If 3 or more teams are tied on the same points after the final group match, the Points Difference (GD) will come into play, as it effectively takes into account all the matches. If the GD is equal, then the team with "higher points scored over the 3 games" goes through.

pretty sure thats overall goal difference not just goal difference between the tied teams.

        That of course changes everything.

I did it the other way because we had Pratik in here last night saying that the Uefaffs had the same tiebreakers as the real Euros. I.e. only points/goals from the three internal games count towards the tiebreaker.

Whichever it is though, Denmark and Germany go through, as their overall GDs are also superior to Netherlands.

I have b (Neuer, Boateng, Schwein & Gomez) so I would have to support that option really. However, I have Alba, Iniesta and Torres so I have plenty of Spain cover as back up.

I wouldn't triple on Germany defence just in case Greece sneak one.

Germany are most likely to score the most goals in the quarters so getting some of their more attacking outfield players looks like a better use of resources.

Just get some cheap defenders and Fortounis in MF. Unlikely to play 5 mids anyway so 'Forty' can stay on your bench for the semis.

Libersky and Maniatis are the best cheap options for defence in order to free up cash.

Also, don't get drawn into getting attacking Eng players like Gerrard and Rooney, imo. V expensive players who have tough matchups that are unlikely to produce many goals.

I'm hedging that Portugal, Spain and Germany are all going to progress (and at least have the best chances) so am stacking up on their attacking players.

I'm leaving Italy and England players to a bare minimum as that's the hardest game to call in terms of whose likely to win. You can stack up on the winners in the semis if need be.

Abate may play, especially as Scout tweets say that Chiellini is unlikely to be fit to face England on Sunday.

Its a risk though. I reckon you'd be better off spending that £5m (or less) on a defender from Greece or Czech Republic who will play and at least may pick up some points for you.

You are probably going to have to change both keepers next round and neither looks like they're going to give you many points in this one.

In fact, most of your team looks like they are all going to be low scorers and the majority knocked out this round.

Not enough Germany or Spain for my liking, I'm afraid. And if you are only going with one German defender then it should be Boateng so that you at least have some extra cash freed up.

I wouldn't bother with Rooney. Tough match and Italy is the kind of team that can frustrate him and get him a booking (or worse). Silva is a much better option at only £0.1m more.

      Good.

Personally I'd go Schweini over Ozil (who has been a major let-down so far) and I'd get some Spanish attacking cover rather than England.

England have been incredibly lucky and have been fortunate to play 3 p*ss poor defences thus far. Italy will have the lions share of possession and I can see them shutting England out, tbh with you. Too expensive for me.

Spain should have no problems against that French defence that are pretty suspect (as exposed by Sweden).

I think I've got joint first in the matchday 3 competition but scores haven't been updated for last nights games and for all I know there could be someone well down the league table with triple English and Swedish. I prefer punting on torres. If he plays, he will score more points than silva. Its a big if though!

TW. I'm guessing you won't accept cabeye for schweinsteiger!! If you did that, you could upgrade one of your 4m defenders to alba, and turn arbeloa into hummels

Alba + Hummels + Cabeye is better than

Limbersky + Arbeloa + Schweinsteiger IMO

    I think that works out.

If not, you could consider Moutinho and upgrade Limbersky to a 5.5m. I would have said debuchy, but not against spain, and you have lescott, so i'd have to check if there is anyone else

5 x more antioxidants than Green tea - been drinking that as well. Looks good provided it isn't too bitter. Heard on the radio that men who drink 7 cups of tea/ day are 50% more likely to get prostate cancer. 😕

Yeah I read your post on the prostrate C. Are you 40yrs+?

I'm booked for vasectomy on 12 July and on my first visit to him 2 weeks sgo he did a manual check of the old P 😯 All well.

I don't do tea and drink 5+ cups of coffee a day, so there's your answer.

That's a bit of a big op. Good luck.

Somehow, managed to just change from caff to decaff. Just like that. I think the rooibos tea helped. Given up on sugar too.

Hmmmm.... Nice underlying stats for Iniesta, way better than Gomez, Silva and Torres. He might be the differential needed for the quarters. I am considering him atm. He must start converting those chances.

Alreet fuzzy. Not unless everyone got their calculations wrong last night!! As far as I know we finished joint on 6 points with germany and denmark, but lost out on goal difference after we got spanked in our first game. I presume it was germany that came second, but best check that with the committee! Our group was the real group of death. A ribery assist for the denmark against germany would have been enough to see us qualify!! I'm guessing that you play against 2nd place in group B? All i will say is that the level of competition in our group will mean that whoever it is the plays you will be on top of their game!! Good luck!

i think that udit has yet to do the calculations... hes in charge of doing the calculations and such for the euro 2012 and i'm in charge of updating the website for euro 2012.

china mag, if you look up the page at what i said to gaz it looks like you guys were actually a bit farther away from qualification than you thought...
