It’s the first Monday Night Football installment of the season, and we’re at Goodison Park to see Everton host Manchester United. The build-up to this game has surrounded around the arrival of Robin van Persie at Manchester United, and how he would feature this evening. The Dugout Discussion is open and the eagerly anticipated team news is in…

Everton XI: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Distin, Jagielka, Neville, Osman, Fellaini, Pienaar, Gibson, Jelavic.

Man United XI: De Gea, Valencia, Vidic, Carrick, Evra, Cleverley, Kagawa, Scholes, Nani, Welbeck, Rooney.

Sir Alex Ferguson chooses to start just one of his two major signings, and it’s the Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa that makes his United debut. It’s a makeshift defence with Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick filling the gaps. Robin van Persie starts on the bench.

As for the hosts, David Moyes names a familiar looking side, leaving new signing Steven Naismith on the bench.

Follow all the action as it unfolds in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which is open and can be accessed right here.

Price changes may force me into making a change tonight. Need to get rid of Aguero for one of Rooney or RVP. Have exactly 1.5 in the bank, so can just afford RVP.

Surely he'll start next week against Fulham? First home game and all that....

Cheers mate. Good news either way then. Cuellar is my 2nd sub so that should be 6 points extra. Still miffed at Torres and Graham.
I was going to buy Ivan instead of ashley and Hazard instead of Mata.

Great analysis by Neville on Sky re: the Rooney/RVP relationship, likens it to when Van Nistlerooy was around. Rooney a selfless team player, RVP/RVN are/were the out-and-out goalscorers.

Their analysis says RVP won't change (why would he?), and Rooney will drop deeper and create. So more assists for Rooney this year, but also expect RVP to bang in just as many goals, if he remains fit.
