Marouanne Fellaini towers above the United defence to earn three points for Everton as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are shackled, with Robin Van Persie reduced to a cameo role. Here’s the stock check following the Goodison clash…

On The Up

Marouanne Fellaini
Pushed up in support of Nikaca Jelavic, the big Belgian was imperious and led the line with strength and composure. It’s not clear if David Moyes will persist with Fellaini in the role, with Steven Naismith and new signing Kevin Mirallas, the Everton boss clearly has options. However, this promises to be a big season for Fellaini and at 6.5 in the FPL and 4.7 in the Sky Sports Game, Fantasy managers may well be rethinking Steven Pienaar as the protagonist in Everton’s midfield ranks.

The Everton Defence
Moyes’ rearguard was defiant throughout and magnificent to a man. Leighton Baines delivered his first clean sheet of the season – he remains the luxury item in the Toffees back four but, on this form, a strong haul of clean sheets over the season could be in the offing to help justify the outlay.

David De Gea
While United struggled in attacking terms, De Gea stood firm against a first half blue tide, pulling off notable saves to keep the score deadlocked at the interval. With Anders Lindegaard breathing down his neck, the Spaniard has to produce. Tonight he was arguably United’s most impressive performer – he had to be.

Going Down

Wayne Rooney
Rooney was the danger man for United but Sir Alex Ferguson’s attacking players were far from potent. While they dominated possession and passed the ball well, they lacked a cutting edge and a direct threat. Rooney’s owners will go into the weekend clash with Fulham concerned that Robin Van Persie will be called upon to provide that, while Rooney retreats deep.

United’s Widemen
Ferguson appeared to allow his attacking players fluidity with Shinji Kawaga and Rooney interchanging up front or drifting deep to pick up the ball. The uncertainty surrounding Kawaga’s role and the likelihood of a Rooney/Van Persie pairing will cause concern. It appears we could see Nani, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck and Kawaga competing for two starts in wide areas throughout the season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Will Torres drop in price tonight? I have exact cash to do Torres->Rooney. Should I just do it?

Morning all, FISO showed Tevez is still on 24% so why does people think he will rise today?

Cheers, yeah I noticed that about Michu as well yesterday. iirc last season you had a really high team value early on, you planning to jump on the risers again this season?

My school of thought is to build as fast as you can early as the cash pays back in the end... Brought Michu in this week, have Tevez anyway, passing on Dyer and Petric for now... So not going nuts, but will be monitoring, and happy to take a hit if necessary. Tempted to swap A.Cole for Iva, but kind of pointless really, especially given GW3.

FISO's broken. TotalFPL is predicting a rise and were correct last night with their predictions while FISO weren't. Did say they would be wrong.

Cheers Isacki, FISO was more reliable last season and I like the site better..shame

You reckon its better to transfer Kun to Rooney for United cover or Tevez for the price rise? Current plan is Kun > Rooney and Torres > Tevez next week, but hard to ignore the potential 0.3 rise 😐

It's not so much that it's broken, just being calibrated. Until a couple of players rise (and only Michu has so far) they don't know where FPL have set the thresholds. Give it a week and it will be fine.

Dilemma. I was set to do Torres-Rooney today, but binned it. Picked Tevez over Kun originally based on the Charity shield, happy with that choice. I would do Kun - Tevez probably (especially as he will rise tonight). Just not sure how United are going to shake out at this point...

Yeah I said I expected it to be tuned - but they could be doing it adaptively instead of just leaving it on an obviously wrong threshold right at a very popular time. A shame because I prefer FISO too.

Ooohhh. Really have to go with the points there, ie. your current plan. If Rooney explodes without you and rises it makes it harder to get him. Also if you have him while he explodes you'll gain value on him anyway which could be cashed in on if RVP overshadows him long term.

RVP.....he will get the goals. Looks like he'll play where welbeck started, central striker with kagawa and clevs feeding him. Fergie is gonna want him to get going right away, I'll predict that if a penalty is awarded the united players will give it to RVP. Get him! The stage is set old trafford needs a new hero RVP hat trick

i really want michu and have already made a trade this gw. same dilemma. atm i am holding off on michu as his price has already risen. see if he can have another good week. i like nasri a lot for some reason! i dont want a point hit early on! trying to avoid

Michu could potentially go up in price again, he's fairly close to it. If Michu pops up with another goal and assist against the hammers this week - which is more than likely imho - then I am sir screwed. Nasri will be influential throughout the whole year as well I reckon, sharing the assists with Silva (They played a 4-2-2-2 which allows both Silva and Aguero to utilise their creativity).

You can't give up on Zog after 1 GW. Give him a chance - Lambert might be leaky at the back but I expect fireworks up front that McLeish suppressed.
