Marouanne Fellaini towers above the United defence to earn three points for Everton as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are shackled, with Robin Van Persie reduced to a cameo role. Here’s the stock check following the Goodison clash…

On The Up

Marouanne Fellaini
Pushed up in support of Nikaca Jelavic, the big Belgian was imperious and led the line with strength and composure. It’s not clear if David Moyes will persist with Fellaini in the role, with Steven Naismith and new signing Kevin Mirallas, the Everton boss clearly has options. However, this promises to be a big season for Fellaini and at 6.5 in the FPL and 4.7 in the Sky Sports Game, Fantasy managers may well be rethinking Steven Pienaar as the protagonist in Everton’s midfield ranks.

The Everton Defence
Moyes’ rearguard was defiant throughout and magnificent to a man. Leighton Baines delivered his first clean sheet of the season – he remains the luxury item in the Toffees back four but, on this form, a strong haul of clean sheets over the season could be in the offing to help justify the outlay.

David De Gea
While United struggled in attacking terms, De Gea stood firm against a first half blue tide, pulling off notable saves to keep the score deadlocked at the interval. With Anders Lindegaard breathing down his neck, the Spaniard has to produce. Tonight he was arguably United’s most impressive performer – he had to be.

Going Down

Wayne Rooney
Rooney was the danger man for United but Sir Alex Ferguson’s attacking players were far from potent. While they dominated possession and passed the ball well, they lacked a cutting edge and a direct threat. Rooney’s owners will go into the weekend clash with Fulham concerned that Robin Van Persie will be called upon to provide that, while Rooney retreats deep.

United’s Widemen
Ferguson appeared to allow his attacking players fluidity with Shinji Kawaga and Rooney interchanging up front or drifting deep to pick up the ball. The uncertainty surrounding Kawaga’s role and the likelihood of a Rooney/Van Persie pairing will cause concern. It appears we could see Nani, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck and Kawaga competing for two starts in wide areas throughout the season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Very glad I eventually ditched the Rooney Aguero Torres strategy I was initially hot on, thinking heavy butter forwards were more reliable. It would have got me a total of 5 points so far! Hahaha!

    My current team is

    DDG - Federici
    Lescott - Hangeland - Saylor - Demel - Barnett
    Silva - Hazard - Michu - Maloney - Guthrie
    Aguero - Torres - Graham

2.0m spare also used ft on n'zog to michu before the price rise/

I am tempted to use my wildcard for a number of reasons:
    - Barnett didnt start
    - Aguero got injured so want to replace him with tevez
    - Silva lacking confidence and want to get Nasri
    - Keen on Defoe
    - Keen on Barfa as last season he had an average points per game of about 5 when he was playing.

I'd save it. Silva will fnd form soon enough, Defoe will most likely lose his spot assuming Spurs sign Ade, Barfa has a tough game away to Chelsea who look in good form.

Maybe a 4 point hit to bring in Tevez?

      Just a noob's opinion 😀

Who should I bring in for Aguero now that Rooney is a non option? I think it's either Tevez now or another player later. So should I get Tevez or wait for the Reading game to get in Man United coverage?

Think with just 4.5 pricetag Leon Britton is worth a keep. Prolific starting XI against weaker side for good points. At the same time, with such pricetag, dont mind keeping him in subs when less upside. Swaping him for Joe Allen.

    RE LIght Knight

I agree, and they've been good to make the theme approachable and exciting to everyone, even of the weren't keen on the comics or tv show etc.

Wasn't entirely sure that Bane was scary enough in the last film. And his death was a bit of an anti climax.
But Anne Hathaway was extremely hot

I see your point on Bane but I think the difference was that there was always 2 villains in the previous 2 films (one scarier, one more reflective). Bane was doing both roles for the majority of the film as anymore introductions would have bloated the film beyonf belief. I like Tom Hardy's acting in general though so maybe I'm slightly biased.
Couldn't agree more about Anne 😀

As do I, and I have been quoting him while going round my house!
I have a friend who is also quite obsessed, and while on holiday together we went banana boating (or something similar). The amount of quotes spouted such as "I wondered what would break first, your spirit or your body" and "My mother told me not to get into cars with strangers - This isn't a car!" were ridiculous.

That is a very interesting point and I hadn't thought of that.
I do wonder which villain they will turn to next in what will hopefully be the Batman and/or Robin films 🙂 possibly the riddler is suppose...

Yeah it must be at least 40,000 NTI which seems quite high. I think it was somewhere around the 30,000 mark at the end of last season.

Net Transfers In= Number of Transfers In - Number of Transfers out.

It has to reach a certain number of NTI for a player to Rise...this threshold must be between 40k and 58k.

should i take a 4 pt hit or just do one free transfer?

If you started the season with those 3, I doubt you intended to move them out after the very first GW. If Aguero is injured, he is your first priority. You might want some ManU coverage, so it be worthwhile to get some coverage there...

Kagawa or Nasri. If you aren't forced into a tricky position, then I suggest not taking any hit. I'm in a position where I have Federici, Guthrie, Terry, Lampard, Torres and an injured Aguero so 2 FTs is not enough. One more injury strikes, I'm a goner. I'm still contemplating on taking hits before GW3.

    Thoughts on United v Fulham.

Fulham are strong in the centre with tenacious players like Dembele and Diarra. However, they have been weakened somewhat defensively by the loss of Murphy and offensively by the apparently impending loss of Dempsey. Duff and Kacaniklic will need to provide tireless defensive cover for their fullbacks against the inevitable United fullback and winger combinations. Duff may be qualified for this though Kacaniklic is unproven. Fulham have ended up with lots of strikers but perhaps don't have another solid defensive midfielder to pack midfield with a 4-5-1. A 4-4-1-1 may be their choice with Ruiz in the hole and Petric furthest forward as an outlet. If Dempsey opts to play he should replace Ruiz.

I think Fulham are a little trapped because much of their threat looks to come from the width offered by the attacking Riise and Riether working alongside Duff and Kacaniklic. Unfortunately they may well be trapped back in their half by the United wide men and it could become something of a siege, as we've seen so many times. SAF could thus kill two birds - defence and attack - with one stone by going for it on the flanks with Valencia and possibly Young (he's got to play sometime and he IS an orthodox winger). Rooney and RVP could play as a front two with Scholes and Kagawa in central midfield and Kagawa putting in a shift to link midfield and attack as well as defend the centre.

This is ideal for Utd, and was a very good post.

Worst case scenario is United are caught on the attack with Wingers and fullbacks nowhere to be seen (ahem Rafael!) and a long ball or counter attack could be used to isolate Carrick...

Nice little analysis here. Ultimately I can't think of anytime I've ever been apprehensive of facing Fulham at OT and it isn't going to change this week. We really need a left footed winger too as Young and Nani both tend to go missing in the centre so they don't even offer an out ball like Tony V
PS. Young should be shot. Not because of his poor form, not because of his penalty miss in the Euro's, and not even for his stupid dives. He is preventing Scholesey from wearing the no.18 and that ain't right

          *We had
Now we have a left footed midfielder. Unfortunately Giggs can no longer run down the wing, he just moves wide and crosses from there.. End result may be the same but the difference in build up is profound

Nice summary that. I agree with all the thinking there and like most expect Valencia and Rafael to work together on the right flank with Young and Evra on the left. However I'm not so certain Kagawa will be one of only two CM's just yet. With Carrick behind them I would see that as a weakness for United down the middle defensively. This could play into Fulhams attacking strength.

The threat will be nullified however if United were in a position to lay siege on the Fulham goal box as you suggest. To be in such a position I envisage Rooney dropping deep a fair bit to help support Kagawa and Scholes in midfield both defensively and in an effort to maintain possession.

Yeah maybe, though isn't the MOTM invariably a player from the home side, unless the away team spanks them that is.

Point is, if Fellaini doesn't get the maximum allocation of BPs in that match then it blatantly shows that their criteria for awarding them simply aren't up to scratch.

If they're going to award them then do it right or don't do it at all. It's the one part of an otherwise quality fantasy game that never fails to disappoint.

But they use stats(rightly or wrongly) to decide on how the BAPS are awarded, rather than using someone else's point of view(The P.A), and not everyone has the same point of view.

Exactly. And Fellaini not getting 3BPs highlights the fact that the stats they use when awarding them are flawed and aren't sufficient.

So either try something different or get rid of them.
