The flag stayed down to allow Fernando Torres to deliver on a night that saw Hazard sparkle again. Brave Reading went home with nothing but put up a fight as their budget options confirmed their potential. Let’s check the stock…

On the Up

Eden Hazard
Five assists marks a remarkable start to Hazard’s Fantasy season and already confirms him as a major Fantasy asset. He’s mesmerising skill and pace, combined with the freedom to join the attack from all areas, has thrust Hazard to the top of our midfield shopping list – once the Gameweek 3 blank has passed of course.

Frank Lampard
Lampard may well rely on spot-kicks for returns but with Hazard in the side, he looks set to get plenty of them. The Belgian’s tricky feet are drawing fouls, seemingly handing Chelsea deadballs and penalties aplenty.

Fernando Torres
Torres left it late but he eventually delivered on the captaincy with a goal that just about justified the faith shown in him. We will still look to Hazard and wonder what might have been, while Robin Van Persie still looks ridiculously tempting for those with the funds to wave goodbye to El Nino for the weekend. It’s still a big decision for those with cracks elsewhere and with bandwagons rolling.

Pavel Pogrebnyak
The Russian delivered on his budget promise with a superb glancing header to bring Reading on terms. Pogrebnyak looks destined to lead the line home and away for the Royals and, as we’ve stressed all through the pre-season, offers a superb third striker option for those looking to reserve funds.

Danny Guthrie
Talking of budget options, Reading look to have a mix of them. The widemen Jobi McAnuff and Gareth McClearly put in strong displays again but it will be Guthrie, playing up in support of the lone striker and at just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game, that will rouse interest.

Going Down

Petr Cech
A calamitous error for Reading’s second goal drew visible frustration from manager Roberto Di Matteo and will give cause concern for those holding Chelsea defenders. We’ve seen his confidence waver in previous seasons. Worrying.

Juan Mata
While Hazard, Lampard and Torres delivered returns, Mata was the odd one out, offering two blanks over the double Gameweek. We know that Di Matteo is planning a rest for the playmaker, while it’s doubtful that this will start early against Newcastle, it’s not out of the question given the jaded performances so far.

Adam Le Fondre
Brian McDermot started tonight’s game in a 4-5-1, pushing Guthrie up to support Pogrebnyak. Le Fondre dropped to the bench then and will presumably be at risk when Reading are on the road.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Didn't do too bad this week, few last minute changes I made screwed me over a little but still, it wasn't a disaster.

I have a couple of questions, not sure if anyone will know the answer them but here goes.

    1) Anyone know why Vert didn't start for tot and if he will next GW?

    2) Currently not used any transfers and wondering if anyone had any ideas.

    Ivan / Zab / Vert - Demel/Clyne

    Bale / Michu / Lampard / Pienaar - Kacaniklic

    Graham / Torres / Tevez

    3m in bank.

I was thinking about downgrading Ivan to maybe a Swansea or Newcastle defender.

Also thinking of doing Lampard > Kagawa/TonyV.

Torres > RVP or hold out for Ade? If I go for Ade I may use the extra funds from defender downgrade and Ade to replace Pienaar with Hazard.

    Thanks!

      1. Think AVB just wanted to work with the players he's worked with closest prior to the first game, still think he should of played Vert tho.

      2. Lamps to Kagawa is a sound move, but personally i would do Torres to RVP, wouldnt feel too confident with ade just yet under AVB.

        Thanks for the reply.

Yea I couldn't understand why he didn't play him myself, unless it was a fitness issue or something.

Liked the look of Kagawa against Everton. I could always get RVP now and downgrade if when Ade gets on form I guess.

      1. Yes will play instead of Gallas
2.Lampard to Kagawa if free - Don't go for Ade as yet, will take him a few weeks to get match sharp and will be used from the bench this week. AVB a big fan of Defoe so wouldn't be surprised if he played 90 mins again this week and Ade came on for Siggy/VDV etc and he played 2 up front at home.....

      1) Midweek International, New to EPL, Gallas and Kaboul in training all week. Hopefully. Not sure though.

2)Vertonghen to a Swansea defender and upgrade elsewhere next week.
      Best of luck!

A bit of advice please lads if you will.......

Thinking of swopping Lampard for either Bale or Kagawa this week but would mean a 4 point hit.
    Is it worth it??

    DDG Fed
    Zaba Ivanovic Hangeland Demel Kaboul
    Nasri LAMPARD Michu Taarabt Dembele
    Defoe Torres Pog

Any advice would be much appreciated boys...........

    Current front 8:

    Maloney-Michu-Nasri-Cazorla-Mata
    Tevez-Torres-Petric

Need to let go Mata for gw2. I think I have enough Torres as Chelsea cover. Earlier plan is to bring in Rooney but plan is a plan. No idea Mata will play very deep in Chelsea 4-3-3. So, Im thinking to bring in either ManUtd or Spurs cover. Both have good fixture. Any thought?

Im thinking between Bale, Siggy & Ade for Spurs cover and Kagawa for ManUtd cover. But I would rather wait for clearer picture on ManUtd attacking force. So, priority is on Spurs cover.

Just got in and checked scores, nice to see Ivan scored again, hope everyone did ok, just wanted to know what people reckon of this team for GW2:

    de Gea

    Zabaleta, Ivanovic, Hangeland
    Michu, Cazorla, Bale, Ramires
    Tevez, RVP (c), Graham (v)

    Subs; Cerny; Britton, Demel, Barnett

I want to get rid of Ramires, but is it worth it hanging onto him for GW2? If not, transfer out for who? McClean? Ben Arfa? Other?

    Comments much appreciated.

just got hazard for vdv even though vdv has delicious home fixtures.I think tottenham will be shit this year...now I have torres, hazard and ivanovic for GW2 and will get rid of torres for GW3 for Rooney or RVP. I think hazard will be 9.8 by the time GW2 comes and won't drop much because of GW3 since he has great fixtures after that. I don't mind benching 2 chelsea players in GW3.. Is that a good idea?

Kezman scored 105 in 122 games for PSV. 4 in 25 for Chelsea.

Valencia playing at RB last game. Risk it might happen again?
Wenger may also rest Jenkinson as he's a youngster.

Brave not to make a change Freshy! Looking good though. I think you might regret holding onto Torres and Lampard against Toon.

Think Toon might be tired and betting against CHE at home to an overworked team just seems too big of a chance

Actually kind of works out the other way though. Toon are expected to play a weakened team in Europa League. We know for a fact Ben Arfa won't play because he's suspended so he will be fully rested for the Prem. Chelsea will only get less than 72 hours of rest themselves. So worst case scenario, Newcastle have a day less rest. Best case scenario, most of the squad has 3 days' extra rest.

Is it worth changing Mata to Hazard just yet? Newcastle will defo cause Chelsea more problems than reading and will not concede more than 2 I'd say.. ??

With Hazard, Chelsea might very well score more than 2 against Newcastle... Problem might be they will allow Newcastle also to score 2 with the suspect defense that they have...

    Chelsea and Everton defenders alright?

Got Vorm in goal now... just debating if having no Citeh or Man U defense is worth it.

With Everton's fixtures they look set to stay tight in the back, same with Swansea. Not getting rid of Ivanovic.

Qpr are 10th and Swansea Are 16th. Not sure about that. Plus, Tevez isn't on the list of top scores. He will score more than Podolski surely.
