A Stadium of Light stalemate brings the day’s proceedings to a close as Liverpool’s dominance fails to deliver a much-needed three points for Brendan Rodgers. Here’s part two of the Stock Check…

On the Up

Steven Fletcher
Three efforts on goal, all converted. Martin O’Neill’s money looks well spent as the former Wolves man proves that, if you can keep him fed, he will deliver top flight goals. Only the Berbatov bandwagon will tame interest in Fletcher over the next few weeks.

Luis Suarez
The Uruguayan still commands over 9% ownership in the Fantasy Premier League game and this evening’s goal, on a day when the other big players faltered, will provide great comfort for those who have kept faith.

Raheem Sterling
Outstanding again on the Liverpool right flank, capped by an assist, the young winger looks to be cementing a starting role and, with a rock bottom price tag, will surely begin to harvest further Fantasy owners in the coming weeks.

Glen Johnson
Shifted to the left-back role, Johnson pushed on as Luis Suarez tucked inside and was a constant attacking threat. If Liverpool can start delivering clean sheets, Johnson could shape up to be a useful differential punt.

Going Down

Carlos Cuellar
The most popular option in the Black Cats’ defence was subbed at half-time with a reported hamstring injury. We await the prognosis. A spell on the sidelines would be a concern, particularly with Martin O’Neill’s defensive options likely to increase with the return of Phil Bardsley and Wes Brown.

Steven Gerrard
Deployed in a deeper role, Gerrard saw a lot of the ball but not in areas that can deliver Fantasy returns. Gerrard, along with David Silva and Gareth Bale, has failed to deliver on his price tag thus far and today’s showing provided little encouragement.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Yes, i think so. Fulham's stats are very attacking and Berbatov has the quality to convert the many chances they're making. I knew this before today and i'm annoyed with myself that i took the armband off of him at 11:15. WEAK.

I'm really getting sick of Fergie's tactics. Don't want to drop RVP but sick of 1 pointers from United forwards. I'm thinking of getting in a more reliable starting forward. Podolski starting to look the business and even Suarez is starting to deliver. I also have Tevez and Fletcher. Anyone else looking to avoid further Fergie shenanigans and get a reliable starter in? If yes, who?

Ridgewell has more points potential, but will have competition from Popov. McAuley is more nailed on and could grab a goal or 2 over the course of the season

McAuley isn't worth the extra 0.1m IMO. Possibly even consider Olsonn as he is even more nailed on than both

Hey all, just got back from the Villa game (meal afterward so about time I'm back) and here are my thoughts:

Firstly, I'll start off with saying that Villa were unfairly written off. People seemed to forget we'd need to adjust from a 6-3-Heskey formation to Lambert's current tactics. Their managerial styles are completely opposite; it was bound to take a while to see big changes. Of course, watching 10 minutes of Villa on MOTD doesn't give somebody the knowledge to know what they're talking about...

Anyway, we started where we left off against Newcastle. In the last two games, we've completely stopped Swansea and Newcastle playing the way they want, mainly down to a very pressing team. Playing two up front means that they press together and this has started to work. The change to the diamond in midfield which we used in pre-season is giving players the opportunity to be quite free in their movements.

From an FPL perspective, Clark and Lowton (two players I keep recommending) are doing very well. Clark had two good attempts saved and another header cleared off the line. I would stick by saying Lowton (if you want a VIlla defender) as Clark will probably leave the team when Dunne is back.

Darren Bent has the problem that when he plays alongside Weimann, he's the obvious target man. PL has instructions of playing the ball short and the occasional ball out of defence to Bent. When Benteke came on, balls forward went to him rather than Bent and this worked better for him. His first touch let him down a bit today (he was our worst player on the pitch) but with Benteke likely to get starts soon, both Bent and Benteke should start to produce.

Sorry about the rant, I just think people (especially on here) have written off Villa already. We were fantastic today, and stopped a very good team playing how they want, who are used to dominating sides.

Yeah, 100%. Vlaar is also at 100%, but Dunne could take Clark's place. I remember saying pre-season that I hope he stays there but I doubt he will (I still want him to, good defender). Lichaj looks to be nailed on, having replaced Baker who was playing well (was our best defender for the first two games). Joe Bennett (new full-back signing) was on the bench today and could replace Lichaj, but go with Lowton.

Pfft. I'd take El Ahmadi over him as they both play as deep as each other (they tend to rotate how deep they play). El Ahmadi also has more goal threat than Bannan (although he would be on free-kicks, if we ever got any).

Good write up. Villa were a lot of peoples' dark horses before the season started then after a dodgy start people done a complete U turn. I've seen a lot of potential even in the losses. I'm not getting carried away though, there's a long way to go and I think we've got a squad that relies on confidence. One knock and it could be back to square one.

Cheers, just started typing away, and didn't even get into the midfield (probably as it'd involve N'Zogbia). Yeah, sounds like bitterness due to being burned by having Villa players in their team! I got rid of Lowton in my wildcard but might take him back; I just wanted to see Villa when PL had a bit more time with them. The first two games were shockers in my opinion, but I'm really happy that PL has shown signs of turning things around already. Benteke looked great today when he came on, just the sort of player we need.

To win with Bent very poor today is a good sign. Let's hope Benteke can help him out a bit.

Good result today but I genuinely don''t see a lot of quality there especially if a few key players get injured.

You should stay up though. I think Norwich, Reading and Southampton already have got the look of relegation candidates. I also think the law of averages suggests 2 of the 3 promoted teams will get relegated this season, especially as all 3 stayed up last term, so Villa should be OK.

I don't have too many worries over relegation. We were so comfortable today; I didn't see this at all last season. I disagree about the injuries tbh, as we don't have many big players in the first place! I'd have said Bent and N'Zogbia pre-season but N'Zogbia hasn't been interested (PL's style would suit him, the useless ****) and Bent has also been off the ball as well. We work well as a team, and I don't see us as having many exceptional individual players who we will be relying on.

I touched on this briefly earlier.... WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE..... 😀

But seriously, usually relegation from the Prem means disaster on the transfer front but I really think we have a better team since relegation..

The only big losses are N'Zonzi Hoilett and Yakubu

    Gains

Rhodes Nuno Gomes Murphy Best Kazim-Richards Etuhu

    Good business I'd say

      Yeah, good result today.

The championship is a long season though and the games come thick and fast. At least you guys are enjoying your football again, not like last season.

I remember the season we came back up was my fave ever season as a football fan and QPR supporter. Looking at the fixture list every week and knowing that your team is going to pick up 3 points regardless of who the opponent is is a pretty special feeling.

Is R Bennett ever going to play?

I have been carrying him since GW1 because I have had bigger fish to fry and have not WCed. He has not gone down in price yet because not enough people were stupid enough to have him to result in any transfers out. I still cannot bring myself to do anything about him yet, but does anyone know if he is likely to come in at some point?

What would you do to fit either Santi or Podolski, and maybe even Berbatov into this team with two free transfers:
    Foster Begovic
    Hughes Cuellar Boyce Rafael Demel
Yaya Hazard Michu Pienaar Ben Arfa
    RvP Tevez Petric

    0.2 in the bank.
Obviously Petric must go, but who else?

Zab > Hughes or Saylor or Ridgewell?

Money will either go to Kagawa > Santi or Graham > Somebody next week depending on how they look. Maybe even Vert going out if TOT carry on how they have been.

Holding back on taking a hit this week even though I'm tempted by Fletcher/Berba in for Graham.
