The penultimate match of the Gameweek sees Andre Villas-Boas chalk up his first league win as Tottenham manager with a comfortable cruise at the Madejski over Reading. Here’s the Sunday Stock Check…

On the Up

Jermain Defoe
Many had assumed he’d move to the bench this afternoon but Defoe started as the lone forward against the Royals, with Emmanuel Adebayor an unused sub. Having found the net twice, he looks difficult to drop – much to the consternation of Adebayor’s Fantasy owners.

Gareth Bale
Over 184,000 Fantasy Premier League managers had sold on the Welshman after a stuttering start to the campaign but Bale finally came good by bagging his side’s second. With QPR and Villa visiting the Lane in the next three, the suitors are set to come flooding back ahead of the weekend deadline.

The Tottenham Right Flank
The visitors’ pace down the right troubled Ian Harte at left-back for much of the match. Aaron Lennon and Kyle Walker plundered an assist apiece as the veteran was given a bit of a chasing.

Adam Le Fondre
Brought on at half-time as Brian McDermott changed from 4-4-1-1 to 4-4-2, the forward justified his manager’s decision with an assist for Hal Robson-Kanu’s late consolation. While the Reading boss may be eying up a lone striker system ahead of three road trips in the next four, Le Fondre has certainly given McDermott food for thought.

Going Down

Adam Federici
Despite shaking off a knock picked up on international duty, the Reading stopper dropped to the bench to be replaced by Alex McCarthy. With question marks over his game time, Federici is another keeper Fantasy managers will be keen to move on as we reassess our squads in light of the first four Gameweeks.

Clint Dempsey
Villas-Boas claimed both Sandro and Dempsey were jet-lagged before the match but, while the Brazilian was handed 90 minutes, Dempsey managed a brief 13 minute second-half sub appearance. Gylfi Sigurdsson still looks in the driving seat for the role in “the hole” right now, suggesting the US international could be set to lose further Fantasy owners.

Emmanuel Adebayor
A goal for Togo in the midweek internationals hinted at a return to form and fitness but it’s becoming clear that he’ll have to bide his time. Villas-Boas’ decision to stick with Brad Friedel over Hugo Lloris between the posts today was based on the latter’s form in the last game – if he applies the same logic next weekend, Adebayor looks set for another afternoon of bench-warming.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto
The left-back missed the Spurs win with a swollen knee. Reports quote Andre Villas-Boas stating that he may require surgery to clean out the knee which is being troubled by a bone fragment. We await more news but, should that be the case, Assou-Ekotto would apparently face up to a month out.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Evening chaps. Be good sports and take a look at my team, link in user name.

I am pretty sure I need a WC, and am looking for confirmation. I have the keeper combo of death DDG and Fed, Kompany being a very expensive 2pointer and the misfiring Graham up front. I would have added Robson Kanu to that list but perhaps his goal might afford him some game time.

So what you think, I'd it possible to sort this out with a 4pt hit or less? I'm not sure I can. comments much appreciated.

I've tried to figure out the value of a WC versus hits and if I had that team, I would save the WC and just take one or even two hits to get back on course.

Most who took a WC this week probably earned an average extra 10 points, I think a WC should be worth a one week gain of 30 plus points, especially in a DGW situation.

If you want to see the polar opposites of WC played by two great players.... look at Locarno and also at Granville. Granville had to WC early because of assorted bad luck including Rooney and many other players. Locarno picked great players a week ahead of anyone and probably made an extra 30 points this week without any DGW... his Defoe to Berbs transfer shows how fickle this game is.

    Gibbs saved my GW..

Looking forward to next week, captaincy is pain in the bottom. Leaning to RVP or Hazard. No changes unless Cuellar out..

Which two defenders would you play from Davies (EVE), Demel (SUN), Gibbs (mci), Cuellar (whu)?

I think I will be captaining Mr Hazard.

I would play Demel and Davies out of those.

Whats the opinion on Gibbs anyway, is he nailed on for the gunners? I always assumed he was a temporary pick until sagna was fit again. Seems a bargain at the mo.

If you dont have him now I would wait two weeks. I got him in for long run as I played WC over int break.

I expect him to play almost all league games, Andre Santos is hardly 'competition' for his place.

it's a funny old game my sub coming in is 1pt Rangel-who would have believed I should have had the other two 6 pt each(Demel and Robson-Kanu) as preference........

I'm sure some of you will have a good reason why but if I turned the clock back I'm sure I'd do same again.

Yup hindsight is a biatch, but there is no point complaining when it would happen again. I only beat myself up when I make a mistake that I should have known better about. Your unlucky that I went away for two weeks, otherwise, I would have banged on about Tate playing enough to make you reconsider.

        Tate?

Yep not complaining as I would make same decision again(I was tempted with Demel but was already playing Jussi so had to spread risk)

    Evening all

I have 4 lemons in my team

    DDG, Fed
    Zab, Evra

I have 2FT and am thinking of getting rid of DDG, Evra and Zab for a 4ph. Alternatively could do:

    Evra, Fed
    Evra, DDG

    Which is best move?

depends whether downgrading ddg for cash will help you elsewhere. united fixtures are not great for the next few either (from a clean sheet perspective).

it looks like fed is less likely to play than ddg though

so, a rubbish week (again) and the tantalising transfer waiting for me is DDG or Fed > Foster.

    that's just how i roll......

If you intend to switch long term to the Foster/Bego combo, then switch out DDG first. If not then get rid of Fed.

Really interested to see how Ba and Cisse do tomorrow, I'm debating which one would be wiser to bring in for a few weeks.
